Monarch Beach Golf Course

Such a gorgeous course. Greens were in excellent shape and everything was very well Kept. If I had any suggestions it would be to not let the fairways get that brown but I’m assuming it’s because of the season. Either way the carts have gps which helps a lot. Amazing café server as well, can’t recall her name but she was great. Good pace of play and I will definitely be returning back. Oh I forgot to mention the amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. Flawless.

Great track. Only negative part about it was the amount of people on the course. Great starter (John), great food and great clubhouse.

Played a tournament here and our Cart Girl Toni was awesome!!! Great service and very entertaining for all of us. I will definitely go back to play just because of her. In the course was nice too!

The golf course was a beautiful… but then you ask; why 2 stars?
1. We had a 6:30am tee-​time, they failed to notify us that the yard work and maintenance was also done at that time. (Every hole was interrupted or had a maintenance worker either rolling grass or cutting grass) and if they decided to wait for us to hit… They left their loud lawn mower motors on while I’m teeing off!!!
2. When had to skip holes to avoid some of the maintenance workers… but inevitably ran into another one on the next hole.
3. We went to the pro shop and they were very reluctant to give us our refund but in the end he finally did… thank god for Amex.
4. We then asked the pro-​shop guy… what’s the etiquette when you have a grounds keeper in front of you… he said «hit the ball! If you hit them it’s their fault for being in the way.»
Not cool. I definitely will be back to the hotel and course but will not play my usual tee time.

Monarch is a great track! Service is 2^nd to none in the OC. Valet parking, great pro shop, super friendly cart girls and rangers. Water bottles and apples provided. Par 3 Ocean hole is amazing. Course was double punched this year and is great shape. The spacing on Saturday was fantastic. Our foursome teed off a 9 AM and finished in just over 4 hours. I’ve spent four hours on the front nine at some of the local munis. You will not be disappointed if you play it this summer.
Yes it is a little pricey, but if you know anything about this location you would expect that. It is a high end resort. There are Players Club deals and discounts available online. I have paid a lot more to play some mediocre courses in the area. I love Monarch and will play it every chance I get.

I hate to give this course such a low rating but the back nine is a disaster. The fairways are completely brown and the holes lack a challenge. At $ 170 a round I would expect the entire course to be in great condition. They do offer a 5 hole round which I would recommend since those holes are incredible. You will not be disappointed with the view on 3.
