A friend brought me here saying how amazing the food was but not so much the service. Well she was right. The food was pretty good, the service… terrible. The waitress basically did the opposite what what we ask. My friend asked for a Diet Coke, she brought a Diet Pepsi. My friend asked for her salad to have the dressing on the side, well the dressing came on the salad. The waitress basically ignored us, she hung back were we could see her but made no attempt to fill our glasses or clear our plates. When she would stop by her attitude was kind of like I’m just here to get paid. Not much personality. Personally I won’t be back unless my friend wants to take me again.

Your standard Italian family owned restaurant that has been around for years. The owners father owned(or still owns, not sure really) a place across town. They pay attention to the details of your meal and have a large variety of choices. The portion sizes are huge, especially dinner portions. So plan on having left overs whether you eat in or take out. Overall the food is good, but not great. This is one of my family’s favorite places, so we are here quite often. It is usually filled with many regulars, as you hear the waitstaff greeting the patrons by name. Many times they already know what the people want to eat as well. So the atmosphere is very homey and inviting. Definitely your hometown kind of place. That doesn’t mean other people that are not regulars won’t like it. Chances are they will become regulars too.

This place was excellent! I am in town on business and thought I would try something different. Service was great and portions were huge! Only reason I gave it a 4 is because I expected fresh parmesan, better oil to dip my bread in and the ranch for the zucchini fries(which was the best $ 5 I have spent in a long time) was store bought.

I came here on a Friday night, and it was packed! Definitely make a reservation if you’re a party of two or more on a weekend. Overall, it was a positive experience. The restaurant was a little tight and the tables were pretty close together. It seemed like there were a lot of large groups dining that night so it was a bit loud. We ordered the tossed salad and a meatball pizza. The food was good but I wasn’t blown away. The place has great ratings which must be attributed to the entrees because I wouldn’t necessarily rave about the pizza.

I have been a long time patron of Augies(back to when Augies dad owned it) It is amazing food, good prices and great service. It’s a winning combination. My favorites are their meatballs and chicken francese.

First time customer here and I had a very pleasant experience! I ordered pickup online through Unilocal.Walked in, got my food, and walked out. They even noted the comment I made about asking for lemon wedges. I ordered the fried calamari. It was a less fried than I would have liked but I think that’s a preference-per-person situation like when you order a steak. Also, they make their own pasta and dressings you can buy in a jar. I saw a women grab like 3 bottles and I asked, «Is it really that good?» She practically shouted, «Oh, yes!» Lastly, they actually speak Italian. So… ‘Nough said lol.

Ate lunch with the family. The service was very good, some of the most friendly staff I’ve encountered in my travels. The cannoli was fantastic, get more than one when you come! Unfortunately our food was just ok, maybe we just need to try something else. Perhaps, the dinner options are better. Either way, I’d recommend you check it out if you’re in the area.

Man this place is amazing went here on a date and damn the portions are enormous. Come here for some amazing Italian food and let me remind you I came from New York which is an hour trip to come get some food. Isabel was our waitress she was very friendly and nice definitely provided fast service too. Will come back here again if I am in the mood for some Italian food

My go-to place was ALWAYS Pasta Garden for a great Italian meal. After they closed my family looked for another place to have a nice meal together… and we happened across Augie’s. I am happy to say it is now our go-to! My brother and cousin LOVE the Penne Ala Vodka… and my mother and I love any of their pastas with garlic and oil! Their fried calamari is excellent and their bread is a hit every time! The only complaints we ever have is not free refills and sometimes not being clear which beverages are bottled, but minor compared to the excellent food. And we hope Augie’s can expand someday! The seating area is a bit cramped for large groups like us! The service could use a bit of a rejuvenation too; it’s kind of a hit or miss! No worries though, we will always be back!

The food at Augie’s is fantastic! It is consistently great and the prices are excellent. Both the red and white clam sauce dishes are delicious and perfectly spiced. The penne vodka and eggplant dishes are also great choices. It can get particularly busy on the weekend nights but well worth the trip!

This is always my go to place for take out. My favorite is the steak and cheese wrap with fries.

I know I gave Numero Uno a four star previously due to their pizza lacking, but after coming back last night for an in-house meal, I felt like I was too critical for not giving them a five star because of one small flaw. Yeah their pizza isn’t my favorite, but hey, most people love it, it’s just a matter of opinion. Their capellini with clam sauce on the other hand? Out of this world. Get it, enjoy it, love it, be happy. Keep it going Augie, I’ll back you 110%.

I have tried the calzone and a few kinds of pasta. The red sauce that comes with the calzone was excellent. The carbonara was also top of line. The Calzone cheeses were a great combination and the Italian sausage was very good.

Owner is sooo nice! Waitstaff could be better. Food is delicious and comes in very large portions. Penne ala vodka can easily feed 2 people. When i eat there i usually will eat the ala vodka that nignt and the next day my husband and i will share it for lunch. Usually run good wine specials for a bottle.

I ate here once a couple of years ago and liked it. This time I was disappointed. We went at 3:00 so it wasn’t busy at all but the service was very slow. I was disappointed in the pizza. Way too much cheese for me and the flavor wasn’t anything great. I also had the eggplant Milanese. It was drowning in sauce and stuffed with way too much ricotta which was very bland. I had such high expectations. Won’t be going back again.

The nicest family Italian restaurant around the area. Extremely good food(chicken parm, lasagna, sole franciase, are some of our favs). Always friendly and excellent service. Augie is usually around and is a really nice guy. All this and reasonable prices make for a great lunch or inner. 5 of us went for lunch yesterday and it all was delicious! we had chicken parm, chicken Marsala, chicken Francesca, eggplant florentine and lasagna. freshly prepared, nice and hot plus a pitcher of nice ice cold beer. can’ t beat Augies for a great meal and good service. Augie was there as usual and was working the phones. just have to give it 5 stars even thought it is not a big fancy place, just a wonderful neighborhood spot.

Portion size: ginormous. Taste: incredible. Service: attentive and friendly. What does that equal? 5 stars in our book. My spaghetti with meat sauce was ridiculous in size. We ate the left overs for dinner the next evening. There was enough meat, sauce and spaghetti on my plate for three generous adult portions. You definitely get what you pay for. My husband had manicotti and ate every bite. I don’t know how, but he did. We both look forward to our next visit and trying something else on the menu.

Augie and the gang pull no surprises. This is your typical New England Italian restaurant menu, but it’s the taste and the atmosphere that keeps the locals coming back time and time again. Augie, himself, is typically in the back cooking up the delicious Italian food that you are about to consume. He is personable and welcoming, as is the entire staff. They’ll stop for a few moments to chat before continuing on making the delectable food that they are known for. I finally ate inside this restaurant for the first time just two days ago. Any other time that I’ve eaten Augie’s food, it has either been via catering or someone in my family ordering food to go. Most of my family eats food from Augie’s at least once a week, but in all the years that he has been in business, no one has actually gone in to sit down to eat. I think I do prefer taking my food to go because the restaurant itself can fill up very quickly. So besides having a crowd, it gets rather loud(did I just rhyme?). In any case, if you are sensitive to being among a big group of people, you shouldn’t eat in. I think my favorite dish from Augie’s has to be the chicken, broccoli, and penne in garlic and oil. It’s so tasty and full of large chunks of garlic, which is perfect for a garlic lover like myself. This is one of those dishes that you can usually only find in the New England area. The bread that goes along with your meal is homemade, and so incredibly soft. I cannot name a dish that isn’t good from this restaurant, unless it comes down to your personal choice of just not liking that particular item. The Greater Danbury area is chock full of great Italian restaurants, and the majority are very good. Although, if you are in town for a short time and only have time to eat at one of those places, my(and many others) recommendation would be Augie’s. The prices are just right and the food is great. I was visiting home for the last month or so and I ate food from Augie’s at least 5 or 6 different times, and only once was in the actual restaurant. Everyone loves Augie’s.
