Planet Fitness – Davenport

Planet Fitness is a fantastic gym. I’m 6’0 240 lbs and need to lose a little weight. It’s kept me busy after work and have actually kept at it for a couple months and feel so much better and energized. They have so many machines that you can always be doing something. Tanning beds are nice. There are 4 lay downs I believe and 2 stand ups. The hydro massage beds are amazing too. To tan and get massages, you do have to pay $ 10 more per month but it’s worth it and gives you more of a reason to go.

It’s really difficult to complain about a gym that’s $ 10/​month. In a sense, you really are getting what you’re paying for, but they do a great job keeping up with the basics: a lot of working equipment, a ton of machines and treadmills, clean locker rooms.
What they’re missing, you definitely notice. Nothing really advanced; enough weights to do *some* lifting, but no punching bags, no indoor track, (obviously) no pool, etc. Pay more and you get a membership to the Utica Ridge Y that has a ton of other amenities and features.
The audience is mostly casual, cardio, some lifting. A couple of gym rats are there but they’re not looking to show off too much. TV’s are in one long row in front of about a hundred treadmills/​ellipticals – standard def flat screens. They’re fine.
I’ve had a gym membership for around five years in all and it’s not the most intimidating place, but my wife didn’t love the experience; mostly because there’s not a huge variety of things to do and the focus is on machines.
That said, this is a dependable facility.

Drove past here after eating the best ribs from a local establishment. I was cross checking wires next to the restaurant with the great ribs. Fast forward 7 hours later to me driving past this gym. Almost pulled in!

This is a great facility. It’s clean and spacious. The televisions are also arranged so you don’t have to strain you neck from looking up so high.

Very large gym. It was clean and on the empty side when we visited on a weekday morning. The attendant at the counter… I think his name was Larry… Was on I the friendly people we’ve met at a PF.

Right next to my home, and the treadmills are amazing. Highly recommend this place.
