I liked this place a lot! Food was great and filling. My biggest pluses are great customer service, and the place was clean! I highly recommend it if you like Mediterranean food or even want to try something different. I had the Beef Gyro plate and it was so good! Meet was excellent and the humus was great, and I normally don’t like humus. The Falafel was good too and right out of the fryer! Check it out if your driving through Davis or even as destination for lunch or dinner. I don’t think you would be disappointed!

Great Hummus and salads, very decent pricing. This place is a small going in the heart of Davis. My family stopped by on our way to and back from Tahoe. As a someone who has grown up on authentic middle eastern hummus and makes his own through a long process — I can vouch for the hummus served here. It’s very good compare to other restaurants in the SF bay area. Overall, I’ll stop there again if I’m in the area.

Guy at counter was super nice, and gave us a free sample. Id had falafel before, and this was just like the stuff sold on the streets of Cairo. Crispy. fluffy. Delicious. Why, hello there. Let me introduce myself, my name is: Falafel Lover. This place gets it right and the portions are HUGE. You get to pick some of the veggies– pickled red and green cabbage as well as tahini and yogurt sauce. Friendly service and a riddle of the day? Riddle of the week? For falafel this is the right place. Oh, and the baklava is the perfect pastry as dessert or breakfast with a strong coffee or espresso. The Unilocal pics speak for themselves.

Probably one of the healthiest places I’ve eaten at Davis. If you’re from Davis, you prob want to know how it compares to Sam’s Mediterranean Café. Much better by a land slide. I’ve gotten the falafel sandwich multiple times here. They put in hummus, cucumbers and tomatoes for you and then there’s limitless toppings and sauces you can pile on top. There are family size platters you can order here for a family event or party. The mentioned that that cater as well! The servers here are super friendly and chatty. Ample seating indoors and ourdoors. Clean and casual place. New fave place in Davis!

Came here to try some fresh, new Mediterranean food and happy I made that decision! This place is where the old Korean food place use to be by the savemart plaza. It’s a small shack, but inviting place. Ordered the chicken shawarma plate and 2 falafels to try! Omg I was surprised at how big portioned everything was and fresh! Chicken was really well seasoned and cooked evenly, and I love the community salad bar — highly rec the couscous, carrots, and purple cabbage! Even though I ordered 2 falafels, the waitress personally delivered 3 freshly fried from the kitchen — it was awesome! Great service and left a happy full camper :) will come back

This is my new go to place near work. It’s fresh, it’s healthy, and there is variety. It is a bit pricey, but the quantity justifies it. The all-you-can-eat salad bar helps too. If you order to go, you can pile on the veggies on top of your order. It easily can pass for 2 meals. However, my co-workers and I did the math. It’s actually cheaper to get the family platter. Yes, it’s a lot of money upfront, but if you store everything in tupperware at home, you can actually make a lot of meals out of it. Even though the gyro(chicken/beef platter) platter says it serves 6, I think it tends to serve a few more people. Anyways, long story short, when purchasing to go, I’ve done just that. It will feed my husband and I for at least 6+ meals(lunch/dinner). Highly recommend!

THISPLACEIS A GEM!!! I hope it gets good business because this place is really, really awesome. I’m no longer in Davis but am raving about this place to all my friends as much as I can because it really is so good here!!! For less than 10 dollars I ordered their falafel plate, which comes with 5(or 6? I forget) giant nuggets of just-fried falafel(UGHHHSOGOOD) and heaping portions of hummus, baba ghanoush, cucumber and tomato salad, pita bread, AND!!! a trip to the salad bar which has around a dozen more side dishes and toppings!!! HIGHLIGHTS: — That pita bread is SOOOSOFT, SOCHEWY and SODELICIOUS!!! — Couscous salad is A++ — SALADBAR!!!

Came here once, will do so again. Service could be better, but the food was tasty, fresh and not-greasy. There was some buzzing sound that made my years hurt, possibly generated by the meat grill spinner. On your first pass through the salad bar, you can get as many garnishes an toppings as you want, but not after that. I would devise a system where you can taste everything on the first pass through and then on the second one get as much as you want of whatever you liked. It is hard to make the initial decision, if you don’t know what the things taste like. Baba ganoush is good in small doses, otherwise it is a bit overpowering.

We stopped at this place while traveling to Sacramento from SF. We were looking for something lower in carbs so we starting Unilocaling Mediterranean food. We thought this place was decent, the gentleman working, perhaps the owner was very kind and helpful with the menu as we aren’t overly experienced eating this cuisine. It had the feel of fast food style with a little extra more, price was very fair. The condiment bar was a nice option and the flavored were decent.

My friend suggested to try out this place after I discovered my beloved Sam’s was closed on Sundays. The cashier was very friendly and explained their menu to us. The plates included the chosen meat, hummus, baba ghanoush, a cucumber and tomato salad, pita bread, AND one trip to the salad bar where you could add as much as you wanted to your plate! O_O I ordered the chicken shwarma plate and was very excited for the salad bar. I love the idea of unlimited toppings for anything. The salad bar was full of fresh and pickled veggies and also had some couscous! There were a lot to choose from so I tried not to get too crazy. I added chickpeas, black olives, beets, couscous, and pickled cabbage to my plate. You only get one trip to the salad bar, so LOADITUP! The chicken was very tender and flavorful. The hummus was kind of bland, but the baba ghanoush was super garlicky and delicious! I really liked all the added toppings and was regretting not getting more until I got super full. I recommend the plates because it comes with pita bread and you can basically build your own pita with your chosen toppings!

I came here once the restaurant had just opened and I was happy with our decision to try it out! I came in and they have a salad bar that’s very fresh! They have great customer service and are always helpful when ordering. The hummus is very flavorful. The only thing is that I wish their pita was warm. The pita is served cold and is a bit of a turn off when served. Prices are affordable and is a great place to try out! However, it didn’t appeal to me too much. So I don’t think I will be coming back.

Chickpeas is amazing. I’m a regular customer here, and am never disappointed by the quality of the food. Their falafel is by far the BEST I’ve ever had! This place is a vegan haven, with the pita bread, veggies, babaganoush and tahini sauce ALL being vegan-friendly. Surely enough, my go-to meal here is the falafel sandwich! It’s SOO good, that it’s one of my FAVORITE restaurant meals in Davis. All the veggies in the salad bar are FRESH and are seasoned to PERFECTION. I usually add their carrots, onions, garbanzo beans, red cabbage, black olives, and pickles to my sandwich. I then dress it with tons of tahini sauce and chilli sauce, and the end product is HEAVEN. Also, I would stock up on their sauces(they have small to-go plastic containers) to keep flavoring the meal. I keep coming for more, it’s too good. The staff is also extremely friendly! I already got two coupons for a free side :). I definitely recommend this place!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon for a bite to eat after church. I’m always up to try new places in the area. And who doesn’t need a pita bread fix every once in awhile? I don’t shy away from the carbs. I’m not an expert on Mediterranean food, but the food was so-so. We tried what the cashier said were their most popular items. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate($ 9) and my friend got the falafel plate($ 8). They use foam/plastic plates, forks, etc. The plates come with pita bread, 2 scoops of hummus, chopped tomatoes and cucumbers, and anything you want from the salad bar. I would call it more of a «toppings» bar. Among other things, there are seasoned onions, carrots, cabbage, olives, pickles, and a couscous salad, along with three dressings(tahini, yogurt, and spicy). I loved the tahini and yogurt dressings; they were very flavorful and creamy. The pita bread was superb; fresh puffs of warm bread with slightly crisp exteriors. The hummus was very smooth and they were generous with the portions. That’s where what I loved stopped. I didn’t care for much of the salad bar toppings(it could just be my tastebuds though). Some of the cucumbers were very bitter. The falafel seemed overly fried and the chicken shawarma was a little dry. BUT props to the friendly workers! The cashier was full of smiles and kept assuring us they were there to serve us if we needed anything. Also, the walls and chairs are lively and colorful and there’s a sweet outdoor seating area, which is refreshing on a lovely spring day!

I actually decided to come here because I bought a groupon a while back and I wanted to use it before it expired. The lady who helped me at the cash register was so helpful and friendly. I wasn’t too sure what to order so the lady explained it to me and also explained to my friend and I what all the sides were. They have a self serve salad bar if you order the plate and I decided to get the falafel plate and get 6 extra falafels to go. Upon hearing this the lady behind the counter offered to fry the falafels for me when I was ready to go home so I can bring home fresh falafels. The food itself is very good, I just tried the falafels and I thought they were delicious, they were a tad small but for $ 0.50 each I can just buy more. The salad bar had some pretty delicious carrots and I liked the hummus and pita they served with the falafel plate. All in all excellent customer service and delicious food. This is going to be one of my new go to spots in Davis.

Been to this place a few times, and every time I’ve gotten the chicken shwarma plate. The service is great! The staff is always super friendly, and helpful in making your decision. The price is predictable. But if you’re craving those middle eastern flavors, and don’t want to feel like shit afterwards, this is the place to go. The plate itself comes complete with a generous portion of seasoned chicken on top of cucumbers and tomatoes, hummus, 4 slices of pita bread and an additional side(I’m not familiar with it, but I’ll check next time). The chicken is delicious, the hummus is good, and now they always have fresh pita bread prepared and ready to go! In addition, there’s a side-bar complete with garbanzo beans, black olives, quinoa mix, beats, and more! And they also have chili sauce and the tzatziki sauce(I always grab at least 3 cups of this!!). In a sense, you can really get your money’s worth if you fully take advantage of the bar. LOVELOVELOVETHISPLACE! This is definitely a way healthier alternative to comparable places like Alibaba or Sam’s Mediterranean.

I came to Chickpeas early evening on a Friday, hungry with excitement and a ready-to-use Groupon voucher. This place finds its home in the middle of the Andersen Plaza in West Davis, neighboring Quickly’s and Guadalajara’s. It’s really easy to find, offers plenty of parking, so I was off on a pretty good start. But then… The service — mehh. Not one person greeted us as we entered :(It’s okay though I forgive them, at least they got my order down correctly, but nothing to really rave about here. One girl was on the register, while another guy was distractedly preparing the food. Overall, the service was not too friendly or helpful, but they get the job done. The Atmosphere — Three stars. Not very impressed. The walls were a little too bright of a green for my taste but that’s just a minor peeve. There are also only five or so tables, so definitely not an ideal place to bring the whole squadron. The Food — Four stars. And here’s where Chickpeas redeems itself. Every plate entrée(each costing roughly $ 8 – 11) grants you access to a rainbow of salads and fresh vegetables. Whether it be Moroccan carrot salad, Moroccan beet salad, Tabbouleh, onion salad, green cabbage salad, red cabbage salad, or the choices of tahini, yogurt, or spicy sauces… you can definitely get your money’s worth by piling these on to plate, so go ahead’n do it. Exercise your freedom and right to drown yourself in as much tabbouleh, garbanzo beans, and yogurt sauce as you damn well please. Also noteworthy, were their Falafels. Delicately crunchy on the outside, and soft and delicious on the inside(the plate comes with around 5 small, but tasty pieces). Chicken shawarma was also decently seasoned and well cooked, but very light on the portions. Plates come with baba ghanoush, diced tomatoes and chopped cucumbers, again with significantly lighter portions than you would find at Sam’s. Hummus was smooth and delicious, but the pitas served with them were cold. General feelings: Coming from a girl who mixes three cereals and two milks in every bowl, I say options are not only a privilege, but a right. I say yes to freedom, yes to democracy, and YES to a help-yourself type selection of Mediterranean salads. Yes, Chickpeas, yes. For your falafels and salad bar, I will be back for more.

Decided to give this place a try while I was in North Davis. FOOD: As a somewhat of a «health-freak», I love how they have veggie bar! I ordered the Beef Shawarma Plate but used a coupon to get $ 1 and came out to be around $ 7.36. The«Plate» comes with beef, a side of hummus, a side of a mashed veggie, raw cucumber and tomato and pita bread on the side VS «pita» order would include everything but stuffed in the pita. In addition, you can add any veggies they have from the veggie bar to your order. The«plate» is pretty big especially if you get lots of veggie so you can split between 2 people or 2 meals. The beef taste really spongy to me, which I didn’t really like. But their hummus was delicious! AMBIANCE: very clean and bright. Has outdoor seatings SERVICE: very friendly people. The girl there was very helpful in explaining to me what each dish was and what each dessert was. Overall, I might come back, but I heard they raised their prices. so if I happened to be in North Davis and want something on the healthier side to eat, I would stop by. But wouldn’t make the effort to drive all the way here.
