Dos Coyotes Border Cafe

Dos coyotes has Southwest style fusion food. It is basically Mexican food but with American and other flavors added in (I mean that in the best way possible!) I usually get the paella burrito. It had sausage and shrimp in it and it was delicious. I don’t usually like seafood but something about the creamy sauce and sausage combination just works really well. The burritos also come with tortilla chips (not salted) and there is a salsa bar with 3 or 4 types of salsa. I also really like the soda machine because in addition to all the normal types of soda, it has a lot of fruity types of sodas that other soda machines lack like orange, lime, raspberry, cherry, etc. (they have MANY flavors of Fanta!).
All in all I give dos coyotes dos coyotes out of cinco coyotes! (Just kidding dos coyotes is way better than just dos coyotes. More like cinco coyotes!)

Best Mexican food in Davis! Plus friendly staff, casual environment, quick service.

came here again today and found out that torillas meat and veggies are all grilled on the same grill, so i just bought a side of beans and rice with chips and salsa, great food. I was eating the rice and thought to myselfhmm, this takses like it has chicked broth, i asked a employee what it was and I was told they put vegan chicken broth in their rice, very interesting, great salsa, good beans, their rice isnt bad but ive had slightly better elsewhere (maybe im remebering things wrong). overall a good place, not many options for vegans, plenty of options for vegetarians, but dont get grilled veggies because you will get chunks of meat in your food

the website says that they care about vegetarians but when i asked for beans (Anasazi) that were «animal product free» (which they were) i ended up getting my tortillas with specks of cheese on them and specs of burnt and under cooked meat in my food,
if you gave a shit about vegetarians you would not grill my veggies in the same place you grill meat (gross) and you would not get a teaspoon of melted cheese on every single tortilla
i ordered a burrito with a side of tortillas, and got 3 tortillas in tin foil, and all of my burrito ingredients on the side in a bowl, i just wanted a burrito, they could have just wrapped it up and then put two tortillas on the side
salsas are delicious, i asked a worker if one contained dairy and she said no, i went to the website to check, and there was no nutritional information available
dear dos coyotes please
1, grill veggies on a clean side of grill
2. add nutritional info to website
3. have better tortilla food handling

Dos Coyotes is not a place that I would ever actively seek out… given other dining options in Davis… but if you wind up here, not all of their food is bad!

I’m a keep this short and sweet. Get the south with steak burrito. I’ve been coming here for over 20 years and it’s the best burrito I’ve had.

Long time Davis resident and I think the quality /​zest /​flavor of Dos after all these years has gone down as they’ve expanded. I used to love the salads and burritos, but I think everything on the menu has become more and more bland, perhaps in an effort to appease more people. Please bring back more of the spice and flavor! Or at least make the ‘hot’ and ‘medium’ level salsas at the salsa bar mean something!

So you are in Davis and you need a filling, decent meal for minimal cash outlay.
This is the place.
The portions are HUGE and the food is pretty good.

I LOVE THE SHRIMP BURRITO.
I’ve been here at least 20 times, and except for one time, I’ve gotten the shrimp burrito every time. Even now, when I’m living in SoCal, I crave that shrimp burrito.
Their salsas are also really good. I love packing up a bunch and eating them with the chips that I take home (since the burrito itself is filling enough).

Love this place! Great portions, quality, and prices. The food is just always so fresh! Tastes authentic, but doesn’t give you heartburn, yaknow?
Everything I’ve tried here is amazing– from the shrimp burrito to the original tacos! I personally want to try the paella burrito next. Each plate also comes with rice, beans, and tortilla chips. There’s also a salsa bar on the side.
I’m always in the mood for Dos!

The grilled chicken is the reason i keep coming back.
The guacamole can be watery, but the salsa bar is always delicious. I reccomend the dos locos tacos with grilled chicken and add salsa to it.

Never disappoints! Always fresh and delicious.
The Howling Tostada Salad is my favorite. The blue corn chip nachos are another. And The specials are always on point.
I saw right before leaving there was pomegranate salsa. Need to go back soon to try it out!
The food is great the service could be a bit better. The guy taking my order got it wrong. Instead of two steak tacos we received one chicken and one steak. Thankfully they were both good.
I ordered chips and guac and only got the chips. When I asked about it he said I didn’t order quac. I did, maybe he didn’t hear me. Thankfully he didn’t charge us for it.
Even if the service isn’t always great the food always is!

I’ve been going here for years but I had a terrible customer service experience recently.
One of the workers, Carina, was very rude to me regarding my order.
I feel like this franchise is really slipping. It’s no longer the friendly dos coyotes that I grew up with. Don’t appreciate the attitude and don’t plan on coming back to support the business anymore.

My favorite is the Border Burrito which comes with cheese, salsa, beans, rice, sour cream, guacamole (!!!), and choice of steak or chicken! I always order the steak w/​no cheese and it is never dry! ITS SO TENDER. I wish they had lengua though! :) The meal also comes with chips and their is salsa bar is awesome! The only down side is that that meals $ 10 :((must be the guac!) But besides that, the food comes out fresh and fast.
The restaurant is spacious and has lots of seating (accommodates outdoor seating as well) It’s also located in a plaza next to Safeway, Teabo Boba, Common Grounds Coffee with lots of open parking spots in front of the restaurant.

I’m a burrito lover and I approve this place. Even though it’s not authentic Mexican food but the burritos here are made just right. I forgot the name of the burrito that I got but I got it with chicken and the chicken was really moist and tender (whew not dry at all). It was also flavorful with all of the guacamole and sour cream. There’s also a salsa bar! I love eating my burrito with the sauces. The only thing I kinda didn’t like was that there was way too much beans in my burrito. Next time I’ll just tell them to lessen on the beans.
I came here again another time and I was a vegetarian. My friends wanted to go to dos coyotes and sadly they don’t have a huge variety of vegetarian options :(I got the rice and bean burrito. it wasn’t the same lol.
Anywho I’m excited to try more of their burritos (with meat of course).

In Folsom recently and stopped by the Folsom dos coyotes… geez…what a shock… food portions bigger and much, much better here! Border burrito so full of sour cream, guacamole, etc!!! Davis dos locations pitiful offerings by comparison!!! Not fair! Someone fix this… PLEASE!

This place is great for a multitude of reasons: their mango chicken quesadilla (when they have it), the ranchero burrito plate, and their proximity to where I live.
The mango chicken quesadilla was the absolute delicious thing I had here. I loved the bites of sweet mango and chicken with the dipping sauce that they provided. I don’t believe they continue it any longer, but they had it for a limited amount of time last spring.
The ranchero burrito (with carnitas) is one of the few burritos that I will actually order. I love this burrito because personally, I don’t like the tortilla that wraps the burrito. When the ranchero burrito is covered with enchilada sauce, the bitterness of the tortilla goes away and it becomes yummy goodness. The plate usually comes with beans and rice and I also usually get their spicy salsa. So delish!
Can’t wait for my next visit here! :)

My favorite shrimp burrito place! I tried dos coyotes 6 years ago and i have not found a better place. This is the only place i will ever go to for a shrimp burrito! They also have really good salsa. Every time i’ve visited its always fresh! I have yet to try the other burritos. Maybe when im feeling adventurous i’ll try something else.
But seriously, you NEEED to try the shrimp burrito!!!
The staff is super friendly and give great suggestions. Whenever my friends don’t know what to order they’re always really nice and try to help them pick something. Most places just want to get to the next customer, but the staff here is great!

I’ve been dining at the North Davis Marketplace location since 1993 but tried the newer South Davis Dos recently. Love it! The food is just as good, if not better. Great service and the same delicious salsa bar.
My go-​to is the chicken ranchero burrito a la carte with sour cream. It is so good! The chicken had an amazing char flavor and the sour cream tops off all this goodness. If you run out of chips, feel free to ask them for more. They’ll usually give you a free refill.
Located in the Safeway shopping center. It is across the parking lot next to the coffee shop. Conveniently off highway 80.
I can’t wait to go back!

Supposedly the best county in yolo county, but i was a bit underwhelmed. salsa bar is decent and the burrito i ordered was a little greasy and messy. it is very filling for a meal but nothing too special.
overall food is good but not great, i guess its in a convenient shopping area

Huge portions enough for two meals OR to share. I’ve only tried the salads and nachos, which I don’t think you can go wrong with either options. A salad could last me for two meals.
I recommend the navajo nachos, santa fe nachos, and yucatan chicken salad.
Next to one of my favorite coffee shops, boba, pet shop, mr. pickles. Cute décor. Americanized Mexican restaurant. Chain locations in Arden Way and Elk Grove.
