Stopped in with a couple friends. I was excited to eat here, I only hear positive things about this place. I would say after eating my opinion is mixed. The food had good flavor and was prepared well(I got the carnitas plate). I did feel underwhelmed by the portion size to cost ratio. Prices were slightly above average for a Mexican restaurant in Davis, but the portions were slightly smaller. They also only gave me three corn tortillas with my plate instead of four like at other Mexican restaurants(another indication of the smaller portions). Another gripe was the less than attentive servers. They were fairly quick to clear the table, but my drink sat empty(despite being empty before the table was cleared) for a while. So two gripes, minus two stars. Nothing super exciting going on here. It’s difficult to justify coming back here, especially with so many just as tasty, cheaper options on town.

I have always gotten very good service here and the food is cooked very well. I had to go on and write a review because of my last experience here. I came in for a late lunch on Thursday. It wasn’t very busy around 2:00 and I grabbed a seat at the bar. The host/bartender/server guy was pleasant and handled the restaurant easily. I’m giving them 5 stars because the Fajitas with carne were absolutely perfect! Seasoning was on point. Beans and rice were fresh and cooked well. Everything came out in a timely manner. Can’t remember the last time a place exceeded my expectations by so much. I hope they passed on my sincere thanks to whoever the cook was that day.

We had an absolutely amazing time. Tres hermanas was able to accommodate a group of 24 of us with no notice. Our food came out hot and fresh, and the margaritas were delicious. It was well worth every penny, and we will for sure come back. We were impressed with how well they handled such a big group. The food was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Jose, the owner, was not only charming, but helpful and one of the most sincere restaurant owners I’ve ever met. Our party had anything from enchiladas to carnitas and more. Not one of our dishes came out wrong. The salsa and the chips are brought to the table as soon as we sat. We were a large group from out of town, and have already made the decision to come back the next time we’re in town. We would highly recommend this amazing family owned restaurant.

Great service — the albondiga soup and chile rellenos were perfect. My kids an I were very pleased with everything, love the desserts, highly recommend, the staff was very attentive to all of us — we will most definitely come back!

My kids couldn’t even eat the chicken tacos. The corn tortillas fell apart and the chicken was overcooked. I left half my meal because it was not edible. My husband and mom in law ate their meals, but both said they’d probably not want to eat there again. I’ve been to this restaurant before and thought the food was better.

Ambience they have in spades. The service was a bit lacking. Things picked up towards the end, but for awhile there I felt like our waitress was purposefully avoiding our table. I came here for a birthday lunch with a friend on a lunch break. The waitress did not understand my urgency to have her take our order prior to her arrival. It all worked out, but it was a bit hairy there for a little while. The food was okay… I thought maybe coming here would be better than their Sacramento branch, but not much difference in terms of quality of service or food. However, the salad here was way better!!! The lettuce leaves were farm fresh and very nicely prepared. Hard to say if I’ll be back. Conveniently near the Amtrak station, however I think the attitude of waitress turned me off from wanting to return any time soon.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants anywhere. LOVE their warm chips and salsa and the food is always fresh and tastes authentic! Great margaritas and drinks as well. Service is always fast.

First time writing a review on a restaurant. I have never experienced such poor customer service. The guy working this evening was wiping the tables down and accidentally knocked the salsa bowl all over me. I didn’t mind and understood it as an accident until he proceeded to blame the incident on me. He said, «you tried to reach for the salsa while I was grabbing it.» My hands were on the side of the table watching him clean the table. Even if I was reaching for the salsa why would you blame the customer? Never got an apology from the guy. The bartender did apologize when she brought out the drinks. Other than that, we had a pretty terrible experience unfortunately. I don’t intend on going back and would not recommend the place to others.

The chips and salsa is good. The chips are the thinner type but good and crispy. The Carne asada is fantastic! The flavoring paired with their Pico and guac, yum!

FOODPOISONINGALERT!!! Came here for the first time a few weeks ago. Had a combination plate with a chile relleno and a pork burrito, NEVERAGAIN. I was sick hours after I had dinner and lasted 4 more days with terrible food poisoning.

Usually come here for some drinks. Margaritas and corona on draft. Usually get good service but on the last three visits we get greeted by Kelsey, the bartender. Absolutely one the worst bartenders I’ve come across. I sit down at the bar and she doesn’t get my drink order until after she is done flirting with the other 2 – 3 guys she’s taking to for extra tips. After about 6 ½ minutes she finally gets my order and I leave after 1 drink. Kelsey needs to be more aware of the other patrons that arrive at the bar in order to provide a better guest service experience.

One of my favorite places to go to for Mexican food. The crab enchiladas are SO delicious(MUSTTRY) and their chips and salad is really good too. Also, you have a choice of soup or salad with your meal. I would not recommend the salad because it wasn’t that fresh the last time I had it. However, the soup is good. I will be returning the next time I crave Mexican food!

I came here for the first time with my boss and some coworkers today for a fun lunch. I usually don’t eat Mexican food, but this place was pretty good. The food came out within 5 – 10 minutes, and it was fresh and at a good temperature for everyone to eat. The serving size was great for the price, and we ate outside because it was a beautiful day(Fall season is starting early this year) and there were umbrellas to sit under so it was great. The waitress was kind and checked on us every now and then, not every 2 minutes like some other restaurants’ waiters. I wouldn’t change anything about this place!

La comida estaba delicioso. Este restaurante es ideal para familias. We’ve been to the Tres Hermanas in Sacramento and we love it as it is consistently delicious. This was our first time coming to Tres Hermanas in Davis. We loved the food. It is authentic Mexican cuisine. We loved the chips and salsa. I loved the chile relleno. The cilantro house dressing on the salad was outstanding. Each dish ordered was a generous portion. The staff was friendly & kind. My children loved it all. We chose to eat outside on the patio. It was a great area, large, spacious and pleasant. For a hot summer night, it was cool and shady and peaceful. The décor inside is precious and festive. We love the town of Davis – college town, alive, friendly. Tres Hermanas is a definite must when you are craving for terrific Mexican food.

Carnitas enchiladas are money. Not over-cheesed, good refried beans and really nice verde sauce(worthy of spices designation but not too overbearing). $ 6 glasses of Sauvignon blanc. Can’t go wrong.

Had a huge craving for tacos, and after seeing some pictures of this place on instagram and hearing about their happy hour with $ 1 tacos(with purchase of a drink), I had to check it out. We went right around 3PM on Sunday when their happy hour started. To get the happy hour deals, you have to sit at the bar and we did. We split 6 tacos and a loaded corona. The tacos were pretty good, I think they were extra tasty because by this time, I was starving. Since there only a buck, I didn’t expect much, but they were certainly good. The chicken taco is made a little bit different, but I also liked the carne asada and pastor. The loaded corona was I think a shot of tequila with corona which was actually quite quenching on that hot day. With el burrito and davis taqueria, the only reason I could see myself coming back here is for Happy hour which is every day!

My family used to go here once or twice a month after thinking we had to give up eating Mexican food in Davis completely. We loved their salsas – the spicyness of the green salsa and the flavor balance of the red. I think it’s pricy for what you get, but I do think their food is rich and delicious. Unfortunately, we will not be going again. Our last order, a pick-up, they screwed up and didn’t give us black beans in one order. No big deal, but the follow-up customer service(from the owner, no less) was horrible. We didn’t have a receipt because we paid in cash and I didn’t pay attention. The owner kept asking us «Well, what do you want me to do? I can’t find your order.» First of all, your system is messed up if we call on the same night of our order and you can’t find it. It was under my husband’s name. No reason you can’t find it unless you are disorganized. Secondly, «finding the order» has nothing to do with it. It is not up to US to decide what to do. YOU are the restaurant owner, and I’m sure this mistake happens. The bottom line is, we paid for food that we did not get. The owner’s insistence on us finding a receipt in order to take us seriously – and refusal to suggest any resolution himself – ticked me off so much, and was terribly irresponsible. We won’t come to your establishment again because you clearly can’t figure out how to treat customers.

I’ve been dying to try their Sunday brunch so I finally did, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I ordered an egg white chorizo scramble, although I did not realize it was going to be a scramble when I ordered it. Overall the dish was very tasty and rich in flavor. It came with a side of refried beans– which were not extraordinary but still decent, potatoes, and two tortillas. Oddly enough, my favorite food there was the free corn tortilla chips and salsa, that are cooked fresh to perfection! I’d seriously go back just for the chips!

Happy Hour Review I came in during HH today and it was fairly busy. It took a while to get chips and salsa but it was not an agonizing wait. I ordered nachos today and, BOY, OHBOY, I was not ready for them. They were so good and had a generous amount of guacamole and sour cream. I am giving them 5 starts because I forgot my debit card! But Kylie, who is super nice,(everyone better be tipping her only the crispest of bills!) let me go and get it. I embarrassingly offered to leave my belongings but she insisted that it was ok.
