The owner is such a great person and the food was even better it’s a great place to take your family or a business meeting I will be visiting this place again soon to try something new

This is my favorite lunch spot downtown. I don’t think I’ve ever had something I didn’t like. The service is great, fast and friendly. The only downside is if you don’t get there early the line is horrible. It’s great for business, bad if you are in a hurry. I recommend getting there by 11.

The owner is an ambassador for Dayton, friendly, and engaging. I love the breakfast here and have it every time I am in Dayton!!!

I just get the hype. It’s ok. Nothing interesting on the menu. Seems like everything was prepared off site. Good thing it’s right off the freeway and easy to find.

I was greeted by the friendly owner at the door and I ordered the pancakes with bacon. It was only $ 6! Pancakes and bacon were cooked perfectly! I don’t eat pancakes often but I don’t enjoy soggy pancakes it was nicely crisped! The bacon was also good and crispy. I will definitely come back every time I stop in Dayton!

I wandered into this downtown eatery by mistake. Iowa’s the best mistake I ever made! The atmosphere is very welcoming and pleasant. I ordered food for takeout, and the service was great. The grilled beef and cheddar was delicious. But the highlight had to be that fudge brownie. One bite and I was in love. The prices here are reasonable, and you get what you pay for. I will continue to support this establishment, because they have everything I require: good food, good prices, and good service. I suggest everyone try them.

We decided to go to Carmen’s during a trip to Dayton for a quick lunch after reading the great Unilocal reviews-​had a little trouble finding it initially because the address is actually for the Chase Bank building that it’s located inside. Just walk through the first floor and you’ll be sure to see it! The few minutes of struggle were definitely worth it-Carmen’s was exactly what we were looking for! The food came about as quickly as can be for food that definitely hasn’t been sitting under a heating lamp, and the service was SO friendly. «Hi-​thumb» (don’t know how to spell that, but it’s definitely pronounced that way) stopped at our table to check in, insisted on cleaning up a spilled pop for us, and even threw some delicious baklava in our order! The veggie burger (made in-​house), potato salad (same), and philly cheese steak were all wonderful. A perfect, reasonably priced lunch spot. I couldn’t be happier supporting this local entrepreneur.

All I can say is WOW! My boyfriend and I live downtown Dayton and we are always looking for a spot to go after work to eat and grab and drink. We were blown away by the hospitality and undivided attention we received from the owner. The specials were absolutely amazing and very fairly priced. The owner enjoys good beer and had a wonderful selection to choose from. All of the food is homemade and you can really tell it’s made with love. We are looking forward to this becoming our regular hangout spot!

Excellent food and magnificent service! If I could eat here everyday, I would! Calm and relaxing atmosphere!

Just like everyone else said!!! Its soooo good! Get the philly, Ruben, or Carmen burger. The bread on the Philly was so soft and the meat was tender. Add some chipotle mayo and it’s heaven. The Ruben was slightly sweat and almost as good the philly. The Carmen burger was on the softest ciabatta I’ve ever had. Hythem was so friendly and took care of our whole crew. He brought us some deserts for free and refilled our drinks.

Thanks to Unilocal,I had to check this place out for lunch and needless to say the reviews did not lie. I ordered the Philly cheese steak with fries and a drink for under $ 10 and walked out feeling both full and content with the service and the sandwich. Everyone was very polite and treated you as more of an interesting individual rather than a customer in line. The owner as well as a few other chefs approached me to enjoy some small talk towards the end of my time there. The owner shares a great passion for his craft that clearly is evident through his employees. He was very personable and was equally as interested in my stories as he was sharing his own. The gentleman who made my sandwich took great care to not miss a single small detail. Overall, I felt very comfortable and welcomed in such a small location with a big yet growing reputation. I know that they advertise through word of mouth, which is why I add my two cents saying, if you are looking for a great sandwich combined with enjoyable small talk all under a pleasant atmosphere, Carmen’s deli is the only choice, hands-​down. I will surely stop by my next time in the city.

Great lunch spot downtown! Everyone has said it, but i’ll say it again– the customer service is amazing. You will be greeted, thanked for your business and small-​talked in line. It’s great, but the food is even better.
I’ve tried several sandwiches as well as soup and salad. It’s all good and reasonably priced for downtown. Don’t be intimidated by a long line at Carmen’s– they move fast! Nice environment to eat in, or take it to go.

Great food, tons of choices, this place had something delicious for everyone! Prices are VERY reasonable as well! Staff is super friendly, and your food is all cooked to order right in front of your eyes. They have breakfast and lunch, as well as a bar area with microbrews and wine, which is open until 8. Decently sized seating space. Also live music on Friday nights! Not open Saturday and Sunday. Definitely worth checking out!

Excellent food, very clean kitchen, well maintained dining room. There is attention to detail in everything right down to the placement of the condiment packets in the little buckets.
The owner was actually one of the chef judges that graded me on my final practical exam before graduating from culinary academy. I had been meaning to get down here and try out his establishment. It was impressive.
I have eaten the Jerusalem style Falafel sandwich so far but I will be back for more delicious treats in the very near future.

This place needs more reviews! It’s so good and everyone is so friendly. I’ve been wanting to come here for lunch since I’ve noticed the place and I was finally able to. I got the Ruben and it was delicious. I want to try a lot of the other sandwiches. They have so many. There is definitely something for everyone. Next time I’ll have to get one of the side salads. They have some that looked really good. With so many people here I’m really surprised there aren’t more Unilocal reviews!
