We had a few hiccups upon check-in with the room types since the corporate Marriott website posts photos that don’t coincide with the actual type of rooms at this Courtyard Marriott. Even though we placed a phone call in advance to triple check there was two separate sleeping spaces in the«king suite,» it is simply a room with a bed, microwave, and fridge with a twin sleeper couch. Photos online shows a separate bedroom space and a living area with a double bed pull out couch. Mike(manager) was able to fix the issue for us and accommodate our stay. Recommendation would to stick with the double queen room for the price on the highway side(even if a bit noisier). These rooms have 30% more living space. The only downside is that it does not have a microwave like the king suite. The pool is a nice feature for families but a bit cold. The hot tub is an option as well, but obviously not something our kids can’t take advantage of. The hotel is clean and seemed properly staffed during our stay. I have to agree with the earlier reviews on the breakfast service! Unfortunately, we took advantage of having our breakfast included in our stay for the second night and were forced to wait over 50 minutes to receive our food. When ordering two bowls of cereal and two breakfast sandwiches we thought it would be a quick process. There were several other guests who ordered after us that to received their food in 15 – 20 min. The wait staff was apologetic, but never really explained to us what happened. They offered to credit our breakfast, but we explained that was already included in our room. Other properties we stay at with breakfast included has buffet style for breakfast. I’m not a huge fan of buffets due to hygiene, but there is something to be said about self-service if you’re on a timeline.

I have been back and forth to Dayton for a work project. This is my second of 3 stays here. The staff has been very friendly and welcoming. The pool and workout room fit my purposes. You can go out back near the baseball field and get on a path that will take you along the river in case you are a runner/walker. It was very quiet and seemed safe. The bistro food suited my purposes for breakfast. The one thing, I will say is that it is a bit isolated. You aren’t within walking distance to much of anything. Oh well. I’ll be here for 10 days coming up soon and look forward to being back!

This Courtyard is now sporting a shinny and new décor thanks to the completion of recent reservations. Pros: + Décor– No longer dated. Fresh new look. + Bed Placement– For king rooms, the bed is placed against the bathroom wall. + Wifi– It is two tiered. There is a free lower speed level. For streaming movies, there is a higher speed internet option available for pay, or free for gold and platinum members + Power Outlets — additional outlets are placed on the lighting fixtures, so there is not much need to hunt for one. + Shower Head — It was tall and I didn’t have to duck to use it + Bistro– Love it or hate it, they have the standard Bistro option with pay for food and drinks. They do offer a limited Starbucks menu + Staff– Friendly and welcoming + Gym– Small but functional. It has two treadmills and some free weights Cons: — Shower– Water pressure isn’t the greatest — Sink — More of a pet peeve, but the faucet isn’t that far from the sink bowl — Location — it is right next to the basketball, baseball, and football stadiums, so if there is a game going on, traffic can be restricted when trying to get to/from the hotel. Also, if there is a baseball game going on, park away from the baseball field to limit your chance of your car getting hit by flyballs

I am a marriott platinum member but management will not accommodate a free breakfast. Since Marriott is the only hotel near UD they treat all like strangers despite loyalty. Thinking of trying hilton.

This is update to my original review of only three stars. I received the microwave oven that I requested when room was booked. Now can heat water to boiling for tea and reheat coffee when cold. So now very pleased. Still think that housekeeper shouldn’t move personal items left on desk, nightstand, or bathroom counter and would overlook this and give five stars if there wasn’t a small closet. Comment by the general manager nice. Need to disagree that hotel is for short stay. A short stay facility does not need a laundry mat with coin operated machines on premises.

I never give terrible reviews as I feel my experience is never completely terrible. I’m giving this hotel 2 stars solely because the staff alone earn it. Breakfast in the small dinning room as they are under construction was great. The staff in the breakfast room was very sweet. My eggs were cooked just right and everything at the Buffett was fresh. The other staff that was helpful was the girl at the bar. She made my drink just the way I like it. The reason for not giving more stars is this, as I’m laying in the room right now writing my review I hear the scrubbing from the two rooms next door. I guess they are cleaning up it’s 8:15 am and I can literally hear scrubbing of some sort on the left side and on the right side. I can’t sleep I’ve never been at a Marriot with walls this thin! If u want to sleep past 8 am on a Sunday do not stay here. My review is just based on the scrubbing noise, the staff was very sweet, the rooms are clean(so clean the scrubbing noise won’t let u sleep).

I have stayed at the hotel several times. Constantly under staffed, your bartender is almost always working the bar and the only server for the dinning room and bar area. On my last trip it was almost an hour and a half to get a drink and an appetizer. The staff is great, just extremely under staffed. If you are in town for work and want a quick drink and dinner after a long day. Stay elsewhere.
