Fehn’s is great American food. Hand cut steaks, best fried shrimp and fried chicken, fresh fish sometimes only 48 hours out of the N. Atlantic or Alaska and legendary Macaroon pie. Everything is from scratch and all of the vegetables are fresh. Don Fehn is a 3rd generation restauranteur and his wife Colleen is a second generation restauranteur. Fehn’s has been in the Chattanooga area(and now Dayton) since 1937. The pictures are on the wall in the hallway to prove it. The venue is an old victorian school building built by the Catholic church for the children of miners in the area. Fehn’s doesn’t have adult beverages, but they have the right glasses in which to put them, a corkscrew and sometimes the garnish you may need… like olives. They take reservations at 423−775−1892(I guess 1891 wasn’t available). OK, my dirty little secret… Fehn’s has been known forever for their great fried onion rings, but Don doesn’t have them on the menu. If you call in advance and beg, he might be able to make them for you if he’s not too busy. Please don’t use my name.
