I found this place to be historical but quite acceptable! The building is from the early 1900−1910s, when the Dayton stockyards and meat packers were near their location. Neat older décor, dim mood lighting but quite clean inside. Appointments like entry couches are worn and stained, but all antiques. It wasn’t busy, but a hostess heard me come in and was right there to seat me and answer questions about the location. Menu is simple with a couple twists like sauerkraut balls and a garlic greens salad(sorta like a greek salad w garlic powder). Had the ribeye au poivre; it was a fantastic steak(and I am a bit of a snob) and a good but average double stuffed potato — all food came out perfectly timed. Not all selections on the house menu were available(ie, prime rib). Desserts were all ice cream based, wine & liquor list was humble. I would definitely come back :) …which is a relief as I was worried based on the prior Unilocal reviews! There wasn’t many wait staff, so a large dinner group might find slow service on an early weeknight(I was there Thu, 4:30 — 5:30).

Worst Restaurant experience ever!!! First, it took 10 minutes to be greeted by a hostess. Once greeted, she made us out to be stupid because we didn’t have reservations.(The place was nearly empty at typical busy time for restaurants). Once seated, the drinks were brought and the tea was clearly instant tea powder(tasted terrible/had powder all over it). The food took over two hours to get out and when it came it had to be sent back 4 times. They seated another table right on top of us, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. The waitress, who kept bumping into us the whole time, got an attitude and started screaming at us. The food is way over priced, the service is the worst(only got one refill the entire 2.5 hours we were there. Bottom line, this place is a dump.

started off with pieces of the ceiling laying on the table, a large chunck was actually cover up with the napkins. Salad was warm lettuce only, no onion, tomato, or anything, just plain lettuce with nasty old crotons. Rolls were warm, however just store bought dinner rolls. The steaks the 4 of us ordered were actuall pretty good and tasty, However the rest of the meal was just down right terrible. This used to be one of the great places to eat, sadly though it is one of the worst now. DONOTRECOMMEND at all!
