Five stars to me, doesn’t mean white gloved service. It means, I can’t find anything I’d change, or they did something a little better than expected. So in this case, both. Everything was good and their packaging was smart. We got the #6 sushi roll with 18 pieces of assorted sushi, and it came with miso soup. Ya know how your cold food always picks up some heat from the hot it’s packaged with, well they strategically placed a styrofoam box in between!!! How smart!!! The sushi was great and perfect for a light summer lunch. I’d pay the same for burger and fries. Definitely will be returning all summer!

I absolutely love the variety and unique sushi here. The location is super clean and always has guests. The prices are a bit high and service isn’t always as on par, but this is my go to sushi place.

Oyaki has the best sushi and Japanese/Korean cuisine in the Dearborn, and sits right with the best in southeast Michigan. The fish is fresh and the food is made with care and attention to detail. The dishes are appropriately priced for what they are as well, which is great for a sushi place. So the food is great, and the service is fantastic as well. The wait staff is on point and very attentive and makes sure you are happy. The chefs have even gone so far as to offer me free treats from behind the bar on the house! Little fun items like tempura fish salad and a spicy tuna hand roll. Amazing Oh and the Udon Soups are just fantastic. I really appreciate that. so so good.

Clean, great customer service, and delicious sushi. We’ll go back for sure and recommend it to anyone looking for good sushi in a very nice environment. Only their location(strip mall) and exterior décor(blah) need improving, everything else is fantastic. Our party of six made reservations for Mother’s Day Sunday — at 5:30p to beat the rush. Good thing, too, because it filled up within the hour we were there. The hostess greeted us warmly, and the owner himself seated us and indicated that because they weren’t filled up yet that we could sit elsewhere if we wanted. Genuinely accommodating. Then our young waiter patiently helped us navigate their two slightly overlapping and confusing menus. It seemed he was a bit new and struggled a bit himself, but we got through it and felt unrushed. We don’t often go out for sushi, and for those not entirely familiar with the process, ordering off these menus felt a bit confusing. This place is staffed heavily, and everyone is paying attention. If you need anything, you are mere seconds away from getting someone’s attention, and they’re obviously trained to be very customer-service oriented. Very nice. The appetizers(and food) came quickly, presented very professionally, and most importantly, the sushi tasted fresh and delicious. Appetizers we ordered were edemame and vegetable tempura. Delicious. While we enjoyed everything we ordered for dinner, my favorites were the Michigan(so zesty fresh!), the Michigan State, and the Devil rolls. We also enjoyed the miso soup(comp’d to us as it was our first visit — very nice!), and the Spring, Caterpillar, and Rainbow rolls. We got one other, can’t remember it’s name, but we all liked it. The pickled ginger was perfect as was the wasabi. They also brought out, on the house — with an agreement we’d let them know what we thought — whether they should add it to the menu — some kind of(tempura-fried?) banana concoction drizzled with chocolate syrup. Unusual, but tasty. We didn’t really have a strong opinion about whether to add it to the menu because their menu already seems sufficient, but they were happy that we were happy with the food. I approached the owner and congratulated him on staffing and training adequately to ensure a very high quality customer service experience; he’s obviously interested in making this place very nice, and he’s succeeding.

Visiting from out of state and a big thank you to the Unilocal community for helping us find this gem. This amazing restaurant is located in a plaza and may be missed from the road. It is tucked among a few other shops. Walking in, you are welcomed by the staff and owner himself. Very friendly and attentive, your glass will never be empty. We were walked to our table by the owner who pulled out or chairs. The impression given by everyone was that they genuinely cared. Observing other guests coming in, they were greeted the same. Fantastic. The décor is BEAUTIFUL! Flooring is spotless and clean and artistic in itself resembling aged cedar. Lighting and wall art was fantastic! Gorgeous! The menu is beautifully illustrated and elegant. Many sushi and sashimi items not typically found elsewhere you will find here. Plus an extensive non-sushi menu. We however, came for the sushi. We placed our order for the sashimi boat and a rainbow roll. Additionally ordering a salad and miso soup. When the boat arrived, it was truly edible art. The presentation was amazing to say the least. Every piece was succulent, and prime. Amazingly fresh and again, the presentation was second to none. After dinner the owner stopped to check on our meal and how we liked everything. We couldn’t help but rave about every part of our visit. If you are in the area, this is a must. Hands down.

The Chef’s were very attentive at the sushi bar, the restaurant was tastefully decorated and had good feel to it. The sushi was good not great. The plating was beautiful especially if your into the fusion sushi craze,(everything cooked and covered in sauce) I prefer my raw nigiri and sushimi. I ordered the salmon, yellowtail, and tuna chirashi, spicy scallops, and albacore. The rice seemed neglected in my chirashi and the yellowtail had a strong taste to it, not sure if it was old or got to warm. The spicy scallops just had a squirt of the go to spicy mayo on top of not blended in throughout the scallops, onion, and tobiko, the way that I love them served. The albacore was a little tough and over seasoned. I apologize if I’m sounded to picky or harsh, when I saw the 4.5 star rating I came through the door with high expectations. I drove 30 mins in traffic from my hotel to get here because of the Unilocal ratings. I would definitely frequent if I lived conveniently close.

Because of this community, I am having great luck finding great sushi in a area new to me. The restaurant is in a strip center and may get overlooked as it is next door to Antonios and other restaurants. We went on a Saturday night and, based on the food and service, it should have been packed. Let’s discuss the food. We had three rolls, the Ford, Rainbow and Sunny Day. Each was outstanding. The combination of ingredients(for the most part, fresh slices of tuna, crab salad, shrimp, veggie sticks) and sauces(Oyaki, spicy and eel) were excellent. Miso soup and the house salad rounded out the meal. Service was also very attentive. The owner also visited the table, making sure that we were enjoying the meal. A great experience overall. Highly recommended!!!

When reviewing, I usually comment on the food, first and foremost, then the service. However, the service here was exceptional — definitely a headliner. Both our table server and the restaurant owner were attentive to our table. The miso soup was on point. The sushi was very good. There are some creative offerings on the menu so we tried some selections that were new to us. All the rolls we ordered had chopped tuna — I prefer my tuna sliced in one piece. We enjoyed the nicely balanced flavors and combinations of fish.

Really liked this place. Been here a few times during work. And staff is always friendly and funny. Foods always good, and comes out pretty quickly. Really like the sushi, salmon and tuna are actual junks not like other places that it’s mushy and doesn’t have a good fresh taste. But this place always tastes fresh, the avocados are freshly sliced and have that great green color too it. The ginger salad, was great and a pretty good size. And the ginger dressing really tasteful.

I regularly sushi. Oyaki is absolutely delicious food! I felt like my sushi palate raised a level or two my first time eating here. I’ve been back about a dozen times since then and have allotted some favorite items(spicy tuna salad, fried octopus/calamari salad!, hwendubop, their amazing tempura udon, chef jin’s special roll, popcorn lobster roll(name?), bibimbap, agedashi tofu… And more!) and still, even their simple rolls are so fresh they’re equally satisfying. Very friendly staff and a chill, relaxing setting. I recommend a visit. It is impeccably clean always, a great yogurt place next door, although their desserts are great, presentation always cute… temp ice cream, mochi. Their green tea is refilled; nice full flavor too. A+, Good work Oyaki!

I can’t stress how excited I was to finally try this place after reading all the raving reviews. With that said maybe some will understand the low low ratings because I was deeply disappointed. My boyfriend ordered the spicy meat stone meat bowl thing. It sounds amazing and unique however upon the actual taste test my boyfriend could not even finish it. There should be more guidance when it comes to it because we had to take it out of the bowl to actually eat it as it does not cool down and without the sauce it’s inedible. After adding the sauce my boyfriend did eat some but never finished. We came hungry and my boyfriend is a lean 230lbs that never not finishes his plate. Now for the sushi I couldn’t even tell you the names because I didn’t care for the sushi nor the bland taste. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was for the very nice set up and design and exceptional server. I forgot what her name is but she is Asian and is always smiling a very sweet lady! I can assure you that I won’t be back. I’m upset because after the fact I took another look at the reviews and it seems that maybe the reviews are biased. The Dearborn/Dearborn heights is a tight knit area with close families and family businesses. Therefore, I truly question the credibility of a few reviews and seems to be maybe family or family friends of the owner. I’m not 100 percent sure but I’m 100 percent sure I’m not an idiot either. You will see that a few Elites either liked this place or gave it a mediocre rating. I’ll choose Kabuki even with its slow service(sometimes) over this place any day. #sorrynotsorry

Sushi is amazing! I love the fish salad that they give you complementary. I love the Vegas Roll and all the Shasimi is all fresh. The décor is amazing. The head sushi chef and owner both came to our table to make sure everything was good which was really nice. If you go on Wednesday and love raw fish make sure you try the Tuna Belly. It’s $ 8 for a piece but well worth it. They are located in Ford rd between inkster and beech daly in Dearborn Hgts. Hope this helps guys :)

Bad service and bland food. Also my roll was not made correctly, falling apart. No flavor complexity at all. It was dead in there and our waitress would just walk past us, didn’t acknowledge that we needed refills 3 different times. Chicken katsu was done before my one roll. Cucumber salad had little little flavor, almost no crab. The food looked 100 times better than it tasted. Won’t be coming back here.

I’ve been to many Japanese restaurants and I have to say I was impressed. The inside was very modern, and welcoming. When I walked in the restaurant was very clean, but I was skeptical when almost all the tables were empty, especially during lunch time. Anyway, we sat down and our server was Susan, she was very nice and accommodating throughout the meal. We only ordered sushi, so I cannot say much if anything about the meals, however the sushi was good. The rolls were wrapped tight and held together, and it came in a boat! I think this business deserves more service, they’ve got a great atmosphere, sushi, and staff. Definitely will return!

Glad to have tried this place. We usually dont venture to dearborn but this is definitely a place I’d go to again. I love the decore inside, so modern looking. We had a huge party, so we had a dinner boat. The sushi didn’t have a lot of rice which is nice because you get more of the other ingredients. I felt like the flavors of the rolls went well together. They also offer some korean? foods, so non sushi lovers can have a choice of other option. We had the beef namayaki as an app and that was very delicious. Never had anything like that at korean restaurants before. The prices are pretty reasonable and kinda cheap for such a nice restaurants. Especially the edaname! So cheap for what you get. And definitely fresh edaname!

I think I have been spoiled-the sushi here isn’t bad but I have had fresher/better. I realize this establishment is located in Michigan where certain fish is not easy to come by. The sushi bar has seating so you can watch the Chefs make your sushi-they are very friendly and welcoming. The décor is fresh and up to date. It even smells new and it very clean! They do have a TV(maybe 2) but nothing important was on. The waitress was attentive and refilled my water often. They do not have a gluten free menu, so I asked for no brown sauce, fake crab or soy sauce. The chefs listened and my rolls came out just fine. I ordered a philly roll and a Michigan roll and one other roll that I can’t remember. They all have good flavor, just could have had fresher fish. Bill was average price for sushi, I think for my 3 rolls it was around $ 30. The rolls filled me up and I will most likely come back on my next trip to my jobsite-mostly due to the lack of any good sushi options in Kansas. While I was there they were celebrating a customers birthday, they made it fun for the person and even sang in their broken English! Very welcoming atmosphere.
