The food is delicious, one of the best Ethiopian cuisines I have tried yet. The service here is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is small and quite, which is perfect for lunch hour. I will definitely come back for their buffet! The reason why I rated it 3 out of 5 because they didn’t have some of the items on the menu when we tried to order. Also you gotta be a very patient person to eat here, which didn’t bother me at all.

traveled 14 miles to get some ethiopian food, should have traveled further it would have been worth it. i have a very diverse pallet and i thought, that it would at least my pallet would be satisfied with some doro wat, eliche, gomen, just to name a few. however i was not acknowledged as i politely waited in their presence at the counter for a menu. 2 women both came from the kitchen and spoke in their language to other customers with out one word or greeting. as i continued to be ignored. i finally asked for a menu. i decided to order the veggie platter with injera. i placed the order with a guest, yes you read right, the gentleman that gave me the menu was the guest and not the worker. the woman worker or whatever she was, finally came to the counter only after the guest/mystery waiter asked her if she had what i wanted on the menu and whether or not if she had injera. she picked up the phone and dialed out without even giving me any acknowledgement. i then asked whether she had teff or regular injera? she said mixed without barley moving her mouth and she spoke very good english. i politely withdrew my order and encourage my friend to do the same. that was our first time there and our last, well me for sure. there were only a few in there and i should have known something then. if you want ghetto classless service come here. ghetto is a state of mindless and its universal, it does not discriminate, it is very global even if its foreigner in your own domestic home not giving you proper respect selectively.

This place is a gem hidden on a busy road. Very easy to miss and because it has less reviews passess just under the radar. But dont go by the fact that this place is not reviewed enough. Coz most of the people who come visit this place are assuming not tech savvy and not Unilocal friendly. What i mean this place draws crowd from your typical ethiopian/east african crowd that does not care about technology as much as they care about sitting and enjoying coffee and a good meal. This place seems to be managed and run by a family, very homely atmosphere. Orders are prepared as and when needed. Injara is super soft and nice. We had to wait for 30 mins for our order to be out but our wait was worth while. The lady running the counter/kitchen/the whole place was super friendly(shes only one person). Advised us on what to order as we looked confused what to order and took time judging our appetite. Very delicious doro wot adn one another goat curry that we took. Forgot the name of it and the sabusa was good and crisp as well. Liked all of what we ate, and kind of felt bad that we left 2 rolls of injara on the plate. 2 entrees/1 sambusa for 2 people came to about $ 25 bucks! total worth the money! Dont pass this on coz it has less reviews, you wont be disappointed.

I’ve frequented this restaurant in the past month and I’ve been more than satisfied. I love the service and better yet, the food. This place doesn’t get much Unilocaling but it definitely it worth every Unilocaler’s visit. The phone number is down at the moment but should be up and running soon they said. Definitely give it a try! Adding more photos from my recent visits. Their chicken tibs is amazing, their foul(middle eastern bean dish) with a Ethiopian flat bread called keeta is a must try! Their breakfast items are the best and lunch is great as well. They have buffet on Fridays for lunch.

The Clarkston /East Decatur area is now teeming with fantastically authentic little ethnic«holes in the wall.» Darussalam is one of the best. The interior space is pretty bare bones, but the food is fresh, authentic, home style East African and the service is friendly. The menu offers specialties from Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya. Definitely worth a visit!

My wife and I had lunch at this small place yesterday and loved it! It was our first time eating Ethiopian food, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but everything tasted great. We had injera topped w/chicken, marinated cabbage, a lentil or chicpea porridge similar to Indian daal. Also had goat chops on rice. Everything was delicious, including the hot chai we had after the meal. The proprietor, Mohamed, was super friendly and helpful to us in deciding what to order. They apparently have dishes of Ethiopian, Somalian and Kenyan origin. I definitely recommend it!
