This was my first time eating here… and based on the reviews… it was a good choice. The pizza was delicious and the desert was fresh. Someone next to us ordered pasta and it was a nice size portion. Will be back again!!!

Great place for dinner in Decatur. Wonderful pizza and appetizers and gelato for dessert. The staff is very pleasant and efficient. Mossimo did a great job taking care of us and ensuring we got excellent food and drinks. Patio was enjoyable for a nice evening out.

Awesome place! Make sure to ask questions if you’re unsure of anything! Sometimes the pizza can be a bit wet but if you simply ask for your pizza to be a little well done, they are more than accommodating even to the point of making you an entirely different pizza if need be.

I recently went back to give them another try and it was even worse than the first time.
I was there with my 2 kids and it took almost 30 minutes to get our pizza, and when we got it was not cooked enough (the crust was still uncooked dough) and we had to send it back. Very quickly we received a replacement pizza that was properly cooked and very good.
The server was very nice about it, but when all we order is pizza, that takes a few minutes to make, takes so long in an empty restaurant it is not a place that we want to return to with so many options in Decatur.
(also, I received a very nasty message about my previous review from someone that created an account just to send it to me. Not saying it’s someone from the restaurant, but seems really suspicious)

Pizza is very tasty and we got a table for 2 without waiting on a Friday night. Lively atmosphere and friendly, attentive service. Plus the prices are very good. I will definitely be returning.

Came here with a friend in town and we both love Italian food. Finding access the parking lot was kinda difficult in traffic, but you enter through the East Trinity Place side and kind of pull into the parking lot of another business to get to their lot… really weird. I had to circle around the block and have a friend literally stand where I would pull in so I wouldn’t miss it again. Anywho, got the calzone with my friend and we both loved it! If it was less burnt and a little less dough that would have been perfect… but it was really cheesy as expected (yay for Lactaid) and the marinara was the bomb!

I’ll say a few really great things about Sapori — they know how to handle a large group without blinking. There were a lot of us and they did not hesitate and it was awesome. Our server was great and the service was never lacking.
As for the food, it was ok. The pizza (Sara M puts it best) is very wet. You cannot pick up a slice. I ended up eating it with a knife and fork until I got to the crust. The flavor is really tasty and the topping were delicious and fresh, but something about the crust just cannot keep up with the sauce, cheese and toppings.
We tried a lot of the pizzas and I think the five cheese was my favorite — how can you go wrong with that much cheese? But I want to pick up my slices and devour them. I also tried the arancini which was spot on. The Meaty pizza (I forgot the name) with sausage, ham and sopressata was also delightful, but again, I picked up a slice and the toppings slid right off.
I was driving, so I stuck with water to drink, but they had some tasty selections for my friends who were drinking. If I’m going to come to Decatur, pizza is a great choice and I will come back. I just know to eat with a knife and fork.

Truly Great. One of Atlanta’s best «Napoli» clay oven pizzas. This family clearly takes pride in the quality of ingredients and the execution. Worth the drive!

Solid pizza for the price. Not the best but better than most.

This place was amazing! It is a casual ambiance and the food was delicious!
We had the lasagna and Carnosa pizza. They were both fantastic! The service was great! The employees are friendly and very accommodating.

Following Qiaoyi X’s previous review since we had the same group of ppl, some tips to share:
They are not open on Monday, weekday dinner only. (Very Italian)
1. All the tomato paste/​sauce and the flour are imported from Italy, one of their secret is the tomato paste brand so sweet! the acid level is very minimal, that’s why the base of any red pasta and the pizza taste so good;
2. All the deserts are so good, they are freshly made by the older brother Daniele, while Ambrogio takes care of the pizza oven. Our favorite desert is – DELIZIA AL LIMONE, which is made by their mom — Adriana, since our lovely lady only stay in the states for half of year, do go try it when the lemon cake is still available;
3. I heard for weekend night, the whole Decatur downtown is kinda crowd and ppl waiting to be seated. So why not go for a Sunday brunch? especially, street parking is free on Sunday =)
DO go talk to the brothers if time allows, they are both super nice and would love to hear your comments and suggestions. Plus, the waiter, our Italian uncle Massimo is SUPER DUPER!
4. Ask them for some hidden menu/​seasonal stuff, they frequently change it!
I will def come back to try more options, THIS IS my Italian home.

This review may sound exaggerating things, but it’s not. This restaurant worth every attention. I haven’t found anything that was not delicious yet.
One of my favorites is their pasta. Theirs are always handmade daily. The sauce and cheese are also exported from Italy. What’s more, when they combine everything together, it becomes the most authentic Italian pasta dish I have ever got. There’s some magic in the recipe that makes the pasta sharp and tasty. I couldn’t stop eating even though I was totally full.
Pizza: 15 inch supposed to be quite big. But because of its thin crust, everything goes away quickly. We ordered SPECK, an Italian ham, on the pizza, making the pizza outstanding among other competitors. I started to wonder, does Antico have this ham on top? The mozzarella cheese is not average mozzarella too. It’s light, fluffy, and not too strong to stand out in a bite.
Dessert: Our server is a good sales man. He described all these deserts so well, that we all ordered one. It turned out to be true. All of them had a wonderful taste and a nice presentation. TIRAMISU had abundant coffee flavors; PANNA COTTA, milk pudding was more creamy than any cream cheese; DELIZIA AL LIMONE was the best! It was sponge cake with lemon and cream. Anything with lemon and cream is good, but this way, the cake has three different flavors.
Our server Masimo explained everything to us with details. The service was unparalleled.
Parking: They have their own free parking lot. Unfortunately, when I went there this Sunday, it was blocked.

Their pizza can be five stars, especially when the owners are there making it.
Loved the Filetto pizza. The homemade pasta special sounded like a wonderful dish and had some great elements (arugula, shrimp, homemade pasta) but was way over salted (this coming from someone who enjoys salt).
But when it comes to pizza I will definitely choose this restaurant over other pizza places in the area closer to my house!

Overall a very good experience here. Unfortunately, I lived a couple hours from Northern Italy for 2 years so my bar for Italian food is set pretty high. That said, the pizza was good, the highlight was the dough, light and airy, which our server explained that they let it raise for 24 – 36 hours, which helps give that effect. The pizza was authentic, but a little light on the cheese (we had the margarita) for my taste. We also tried the lasagna, which was also very good, and had the caprese to start. Service was very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place.

It’s very small in this restaurant and I wasn’t too fond of the set up. I order first and hope to find a place to sit. When u don’t, u have to wait in a cramped back «bar» area to wait to be seated. We had the fried Mac n cheese which was fried really well and moist on the inside. Not too cheesy on the inside but still very tasty. We also had pizza with 3 meats, spicy salami, ham and sausage. My hubby really enjoyed it. I wasn’t too fond of the cuts of the meats on the pizza. It kinda made me think of school pizza. The pizza was very thin which I love. The meats were flavorful and it had just enough sauce. Our service was great! The owner or manager was very attentive as well as the waiter.

Great service and great pizza! One of the top pizza places in Atlanta! Relaxed, casual, authentic Italian feel.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday per recommendation for an authentic Italian pizza. Started with a caprese salad and then moved on to the Margherita pizza (FYI, it is 15 inches so more than enough for 2 people; I would even say it is safe to share with 3 people). Worth checking out since it close to other bars if you are interested in going out after dinner. Loved every bite of the pizza — even though it was more than enough for 2 people, it was that good that there was no leftovers. A fan of their dough.

One of the best Napoletana pizzas I’ve ever eaten was from here, and I’ve literally had some of the best in the world. Atlanta has a great pizza scene, probably one of the best in the country. Let’s start by saying that I typically do not eat anchovies, but on the recommendation from our server, I ordered the pizza named the Napoletana. The salty brine of the black olives and the salty oil of the anchovies blended with the thin san marzano sauce. Add in the mouth feel and creamy texture of authentic Buffalo Mozz and this pizza was truly something special. It really required the high heat and short cook time of the acunto ovens to pull this pizza off. To this day I won’t order anchovies on a pizza, but I fondly remember the blended flavors from this pizza.
The pizzaiolo was kind enough to describe their dough rising methods and I liked the down to earth, rustic, and simple feel of the place. The five stars is simply for delivering one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Sapori Di Napoli is one of the most traditional of the Atlanta pizzerias when it comes to pizza Napoletana.

I’ve never had a bad meal here. The wait staff is fun and pleasant. If you can plan to come when «mama» is in town, you’ll be in for an even better meal.

Awesome pizza, so fresh and tasty. The sauce was amazing as was the quality of the ingredients. All the pizzas base ingredients are tomato sauce fresh and delicious, mozzarella cheese, olive oil and basil. We had a salad (two since it was so tasty), pizza and appetizers fried mac n-​cheese, and angini a fried rice ball with ground beef, carrots and corn (surprisingly delicious). The waitress Candice was great and very attentive. Definitely a must if you love great authentic Naples style pizza.

Flavorful pasta with unique ingredients! Like the free parking and convenient pick up option. Seems like a cool outdoor seating area too.

I actually think the food here is very good. I’ve eaten here around 8 times (or so) and always find the food fresh and authentic. The reason I’m giving it only 3 stars is the fact that they serve such small portions. Particularly of their Eggplant Parmigiana. I’m not a big eater. In fact, I usually split my meals or take a lot home. Here, I ordered the full meal (of the Eggplant Parmigiana) and was still hungry and ordered more food. I never do that. It was an appetizer portion for a full meal price. And it came with an equally small (and delicious) dinner salad. I’ll need to go to other Italian restaurants like Ippolito’s, for that dish, I guess. Just don’t know why they do that.

So, in another foray out of my usual dine-​at-​home experimentation, I’d gone to a social gathering at this establishment, tucked away in downtown Decatur; *surprise*, it has its own lot with free parking!
It’s a little tight on space inside, but it’s partly probably to promote the intimacy of communal dining with the friends and family you’re more-​than-​likely there with.
I’d gotten a heads-​up from one of my friends that one would order and pay in advance of sitting down, which I think is a very organized way of doing it: you take care of your bill in advance, those who have an ethic about a specific way of tipping can get that out of the way, and those who have qualms about the pricing can take care of those qualms however it is they wish before sitting.
I’d decided on the eggplant parmigiana, which comes with a side salad and bread, and a cappuccino, one of the few hot beverages it seems they have. The side salad ended up being an artisanal lettuce salad with a delicious balsamic-​type dressing, and the bread was artisanal-​style too. From the notices about the establishment as one waits to order, they do a lot of their baking, preparation, and ingredient-​picking on-​site, which adds to its charm, but adds a little to the price since this style of preparation is a little more costly. Still, it’s well worth it to know they’re taking charge of how their food comes out.
One can even see the brick oven on a far wall that they use to do their cooking, which, marvelously, is as efficient as the ordering/​payment system and just as quick. Within ten minutes of sitting down, all 9 of us had our food and drinks, which varied from a three-​topping, medium-​sized pizza to the parmigiana, to three colossal calzoni.
I can say I did enjoy my meal, though it wasn’t mind-​blowingly out of this world (and I was one of three to have the same dish), which they presented in a horizontal triad on the same rectangular plate: salad on the left, bread in the middle, and parmigiana on the right. My cappuccino had come before my meal, and it – in what’s been seeming to be a trend in most places I’ve eaten out in Georgia — was pretty lukewarm and relatively weak-​tasting. The flavor did get slightly stronger as I’d gotten towards the bottom of the cup, but it could’ve been hotter, I think.
Perhaps the milk wasn’t as hot as it could have been and it cooled down the drink entirely, or it sat for too long before I’d received it? Who knows? I’m not one to complain often; I buck up and take it, usually.
Others felt the food was absolutely superb, but the general consensus was it was a good dining experience, complete with a muted Audrey Hepburn film on television that could serve as another conversation piece.

The real Italian pizza in Atlanta. What can I say more?
The atmosphere is really cozy and friendly. The patio outside is perfect for a summer dinner with friends.

I’ve had some great pizza here, but this time wanted something different. Chose the arugula salad (simple but tasted wonderfully fresh), the Arancini (meh) and the burrata with prosciutto.
My husband chose the sausage dish (with mushrooms and side salad)… which tasted fantastic. Definitely would order that again.
Service was spotty, great at first, then our waitress was m.i.a., so we had to ask someone else to bring our check.

Sapori di Napoli is a delicious pizza restaurant on Church St. in Decatur. I should first recommend that if you’re at all able, try to sit outside. It’s not a very large space inside, and when busy, it’s loud enough to be unpleasant and very difficult to carry on a conversation.
You’ll order at the counter, and as others have pointed out, since this place isn’t at all cheap, table service should be offered. We ordered the fittatine di pasta, fried macaroni basically, for the appetizer and it’s absolutely delicious. It’s served with a side of Sapori’s delicious marinara sauce. I must say that I found their sauce to be substantially above average. It’s not too sweet, and seems to have a generous helping of black pepper in it, which I love. For my pizza, I ordered the Carnosa, which is topped with ham, Italian sausage and salami. Everything about it was delicious — the cheese, toppings, crust, sauce. Absolutely no complaints, it was one of the better pizzas I’ve had in Atlanta.
Insofar as service, you’re more or less on your own. The staff is very friendly, but you may have to flag down the server if you want extra beer or refill, or go to the counter to ask. After our server visited our table a few times and still didn’t give us plates, napkins or utensils I found where they were kept and got them myself. The pizzas usually cost at least $ 20 or more, and that obviously doesn’t include any drinks, appetizers or deserts so I think for this price they really should offer table service. Here’s where I wish that Unilocal had half-​star ratings because four stars is a little high to give a restaurant where the mere act of having your water refilled can be a chore, but damn that pizza was good, so screw it.
Pros: Delicious, wonderful pizza.
Cons: Self-​service.
Verdict: Recommended

Love that this place is in the neighborhood! Every hood needs an Italian restaurant that offers hand made pasta, authentic pizza and fried rice balls, right?
Well here’s the thing, I think my palate has been exposed to manufacture pasta for far too long. Unfortunately, I didn’t care for the authentic taste of theirs. I rather Barllia, mueller or even the Kroger or Publix brand.
Their pizza however, is to die for! It’s like visiting Naples/​Napoli but minus the long flight. They have the crust and sauce ratio down pack, then top that with their toppings. Incredibly delicious! Da truth!

I had this place bookmarked for a while and my interest rose with the reviews from a UYE held here not too long ago.
Very nice, helpful and attentive service, at least until it got jammed. Then we had to flag a guy down a couple of times but even that wasn’t a problem. These people care about their customers, for sure.
Sat at the window bar looking out on the street. There were tables available but we like bars.
Small draft beer selection. They have a rotating Three Taverns brew on tap. This night it was the Russian imperial stout which sounded good to me even though the ‘imperial’ in the name suggests (correctly) that it’s high ABV. I had two, so was feeling fine by the end of the meal. Wife wanted a sprakling wine and went with the recommended prosecco.
Fried mac & cheese — super well executed. This could have been a greasy mess but instead comes as four nicely breaded and fried rectangular cuboids of densely-​packed M&C goodness.
Italiana salad — big, nice dressing, long strips of prosciutto, long on leafy satisfaction.
Mista Sapori salad — likewise big, likewise good. Everything is good here.
Filetto Pizza — now we’re getting into the serious stuff, eh? Nothing more serious than pizza in a food review. OK, maybe BBQ. This pizza is just about top notch. High quality toppings, well-​baked. In drawing the inevitable comparison between this pizza and that of Decatur’s other (in my estimation) well-​regarded pizza — Avellino’s — SdN comes in a close second and I think it’s the dough. Avellino’s is a touch better. Mind you, Sapori di Napoli’s pizza delivers the goods. I intend to come back for more, mainly because I didn’t order a pizza this time, instead opting for the special of the night, which was …
Lasagna — check my profile. I’m basically Garfield the cat when it comes to lasagna. Sapori’s is pretty good, but perhaps not as good as I expected. Theirs is the ‘mushy’ type of lasagna where the pasta is cooked down until is almost melds with the sauce and the other ingredients, becoming almost homogenous (I exaggerate for effect). This is a personal preference, but I prefer the pasta to be more of a structural member of the dish. Still, as with their pizza, I will order and eat this until the cows come home.
This is a freakin’ popular place. The line to order/​get seated was about out the door when we left. Don’t come here on a Saturday night expecting to slide into a table right away unless you do what we did — get here about 5:30 PM, or before. The restaurant was almost filled at 5:30.
It’s loud, from children earlier on, then from the massive hoards of people. Somehow even though I don’t like loud restaurants, this time it didn’t bother me. Maybe because it was the sound of people having a good time.
Parking — it’s Decatur, so you park where do for any other restaurant around the square. Except Sapori’s does have a few reserved spots in the lot next door, right up against the wall. We scored one of those.
Decatur is like foodie Nirvana. Sapori di Napoli is part of that.

I have been here ¾ times. I like the ambiance and service. Pizza is good but not as good as antico pizza. That’s just my opinion. But I don’t mind going here again.

A continuation of my Decatur foodie adventures, next stop, Sapori di Napoli.
My friend claimed this to be his favorite pizza place. Finally, on a Sunday afternoon, we got a huge group to fill the nearly empty restaurant. One of my friends had already ordered a large pizza for three to share, the number 9 Mergellina, although there were mushrooms on it that I don’t think was included in the list of ingredients on menu. No problem, I love mushrooms! The sauce was savory and intensely seasoned. The pizza was meaty and needed to be folded to catch all the heavy ingredients.
We also ordered the fried rice balls, or the Arancini, which comes in an order of 4, with marinara sauce for dipping. It reminded me of fried risotto. The texture was odd, the flavor was different, but I liked it, although not everyone thought the same who had a bite of the Arancini.
We were on such a roll with our meal that we couldn’t turn down dessert. We ordered the tiramisu, which turned out to be the last slice they had left. It was light and fluffy but heavy from the sauce at the same time. Not bad for the last slice in the tray.
I had no complaints with my food! The food came out quickly and was pretty tasty. Will be back for sure!

Sapori di Napoli has been on my list of restaurants to visit for ages now. If you know me, you know I love Italian — bring on the carbs, and Sapori’s menu definitely hits cuisine highlights (pasta, pizza, calzones, and various appetizers and desserts).
I’ve had the pizza a few times prior for takeout, and it was enjoyable enough: fresh toppings and fairly favorable — a little bit on the pricey side however.
On our last visit we decided to delve into different aspects of the menu. For an appetizer, we ordered the fried macaroni and cheese — and yes, it is good as it sounds — it was the highlight of the meal! Crunchy and cheesey are the adjectives that come to mind but trust me, it’s good.
The panini — the classico — was more on the mediocre side, a farirly standard sandwich. I enjoyed the pasta quite a bit more, though I do wish the pasta sauce was smoother, creamier, and more flavorful.
All in all, I am a fan of Sapori, it’s a lovely space with a nice serving staff, but I think their pizza is their strong point. Next time, that’s what I’ll be ordering.

Recently, we have had a lovely UYE Neopolitan Pizza Tour, visiting Varuni Napoli, Sapori di Napoli, and Don Antonio by Starita. Sapori di Napoli wins as my favorite for its service, its quality of toppings, comfort, and overall taste. Nestled in Decatur Square, they seemed humbled and honored to welcome our big Unilocal family. Sapori has a beautiful story that they share on the website, prided and owned by two brothers from Naples. They brought their brick oven over from Italy and it is tucked over in the corner for all to watch.
On our little excursion, I tasted both the Diavolo Pizza and the Carnosa. The Diavolo is red sauce pizza topped with thick cuts of spicy sopressata… if you are pepperoni pizza type – this is what you should order. The sopressata was like pepperoni with character, fresh and packed with distinction and quality. It made me appreciate every bite. I am very saucy girl so next time, I will probably amp up my pizza with extra sauce. Even though the Carnosa is topped with not only hot sopressata but also ham and italian sausage, I still preferred the zest and simplicity of the Diavolo. The Diavolo is definitely spicy so just be forewarned but I loved the heat on it.
Our server was on point and didn’t miss a beat even though we had a big crew. We all had separate checks. He zipped through splitting the checks and I was super impressed that they were able to divide our pizzas and app by 6 even down to the penny on the bill (I think I uploaded the pic of the check so just see what I mean). The restaurant is cozy and inviting. They have several other options aside from pizza too – Trevor, that was one sexy Eggplant Parm you ordered! I have been raving about this place to all of my friends… Sapori, I will be seeing you again very soon. Thank you for an exceptional pizza experience.

Okay, so my issue with the pizza the first time I ate here was that it was wet. Not greasy. Just… wet.
And that was just weird, so I hadn’t gone back.
Until a couple of weeks ago, for my first Unofficial Unilocal Event! We tried a variety of pizzas, along with the arancini, which are little fried rice balls. They were outstanding.
The pizza? It was also really good. BUT STILL WET. So I think that is just their «thing» at Sapori di Napoli. I’ve tried many other Neapolitan pizzas (Antico, Varuni Napoli, and Double Zero Napoletana are all excellent) and none of them are wet. So it’s a little strange, but really, the pizza didn’t taste bad at all. There was just a lot of dripping, and all of the cheese and toppings slid right off the first slice I tried to wrestle from the larger pie.
Here are the pies I tried:
«Five Cheese» (it was on their chalkboard in Italian) — This pizza was the special of the day, and man you could really taste the smoked mozzarella. The blobs of ricotta were also tasty.
Diavola — Spicy! It’s a little weird that they cut their sopressata into little matchstick-​sized pieces instead of slicing it thin. But whatever, it was delicious. And spicy!
Carnosa — For the carnivore in your life, this pizza comes with Italian sausage, sopressata, and cotto ham. Yum.
I am upgrading from two to three stars because, as I said, the taste is good, if you can get over the wetness of the pizza. Additionally, the crust was pretty good, as was the service. And they have very local beers on tap (I had a great Three Taverns imperial stout). Probably the best thing about this place, especially being in Decatur, is that they have their own lot and it’s free!

I this place is located right off church st walking distance from the marta station and decator square. The amabaunce is not really itailan feell. It more american just wood everywere. And At Sapori you have ti order at the counter. Then the entrees are served to your table. This restaurant is closed monday and open for lunch only on Saturday and Sunday. Parking is free but limited and seating is also limited.
The pizza…
1^st Margherita consist fresh tomato, bufula mozzarella and fresh basil. I like the fresh tomato sause and basil taste to the pizza.
2^nd Daviovia consist fresh tomato, buffula mozzarella and spicy salami. If you are not into spicy foods stay away. The meat itself make s the whole pie very spicy.
The Apps and more.
–Arancini — Five rice lightly fried rice balls with a side of tomato sauce. Really good.
–Out side there great pizzas they offer house made pasta, calzones and excellent salads. Over all great great spot for pizza.
Service.
Not bad, but for the price you pay for a pie waiter service is more appropriate. It can be a hassle if you decided to order a drink in the middle of your meal and get up to the counter to pay again, or even a refill like water. The place is not fast food. But surprisingly I will be back.

This place was great! It came recommended by a mom who said that this place is kid friendly. She was so right! We had a large group of 6 adults and 4 kids at around 8:30 on a Thursday and the staff was very accommodating. We ordered a cheese pizza double cut for the kids and it was giant. We also ordered some salads which were so fresh and tasty. I ate to quickly to remember what else we had.
One thing that I love is the parking. Free parking adjacent to the restaurant is not common in downtown Decatur.
