I choose SW when I have a challenging paint issue. I have relied on the expertise of the staff many times… but this day, at this store, with these guys — they were an embarrassment to the SW brand. One guy never looked up from playing on his phone, and the other offered idiotic advice. When I explained I needed an exterior paint with an LVR lower than 50 — he was dumbfounded. A color’s LVR(light reflectivity value) is crucial for exterior paints for many reasons including resistance to heat/fading. He said he had never heard the term, and SW paints did not have LVR ratings. And he said it in the most condescending, snide way possible. I Googled the the term on my phone right there and showed him the SW website that explained the term, and discovered that each SW paint color swatch actually has the LVR on the back. The SW guy said«I always wondered what those numbers meant.» Honestly, the paint folks at Home Depot are more knowledgeable and more friendly. I still opt for the SW products over Behr, but beware of the idiots running the place.

Apparently SW staff needs to be trained in customer service in general. After waiting 45 minutes at the SW store at 2460 N. Druid Hills Rd(see review) we came upon a contractor who had a gallon of paint mixed incorrectly(they have manual mixing, not the computerized type) so the color was wrong. I sat there for 10 minutes without the personnel acknowledging my existence even though I was sitting next to one of the contractors. I could understand if you were swamped, but to have only 1 customer and not look over and say, «Sorry, ma’am, I’ll be with you shortly,» was a bit of a slap in the face after my experience at the other store. I finally left and proceeded to stain my deck the Charwood color with what stain I had. I returned later, after I ran out of stain, and got more only to find out that they don’t carry quarts yet(ended up I didn’t need a gallon) so I wasted my money and purchased a gallon instead. It’s ridiculous that the only thing that withheld my deck staining was the store that sold the stain. If I hadn’t spent so long on settling on the color that SW gave me, I would have gone to Home Depot instead. I recommend you do the same.
