Color Me Up Salon

I went to Color Me Up for the first time a few days ago and loved it! I drove past it about 3 times in the beginning before I noticed the sign. It’s a small salon but Lida is an absolute gem! My hair is very thin and there’s not much you can do with it. For the first time in months (if not years), Lida gave me a feeling that I actually have volume in it again. I vaguely described what I was looking for and she showed me a sample picture to make sure we’re on the same page. Then she styled my hair exactly the way I wanted. I’ll definitely be back in the future!

I was in desperate need of a haircut and made my first appointment with Lida. I knew I wanted to cut a lot off, but still leave a decent length. She went over exactly what she was going to do and cut off exactly what she said she would, rather than a few inches shorter like it usually happens somewhere else. I love my new haircut and I won’t be going anywhere else!

I’ve been going here for years ! I followed these ladies from their last shop. They are both fabulous. It’s a very friendly and welcoming salon. I’ve recommended this place to many people.

Lida is a genius! She makes my thin, fine hair look fantastic. I have never gotten nearly as good a cut at any of the fancy salons on Newbury Street or anywhere else. Lida and Maggie make you feel welcome, they listen. Lida lets you know if what you have in mind will or will not work for you and she is ALWAYS right. She also has a great eye for color.
I can’t say enough about Color Me Up. Now, my husband won’t go anywhere else either!

Maggie quite literally saved my hair!
I had gone to an over-​hyped salon in NYC for some subtle highlights — and came out with orange streaks that started about 2 inches from my roots. Once I stopped crying, I went to Maggie who restored my hair to its original tones and worked her color magic to give me the exact color mix I had desired. She knows how to mix colors properly, and how to listen to clients about what they want. That is RARE. This was my first visit to Maggie, and it will not be my last. I am VERY picky about my hair, and now I will travel back from NYC just to see Maggie.

Lida does the best job ever on my son’s hair, which is very thick and hard to cut. He always comes out with a perfect cut that is easy to manage. Lida is great!

Great salon. One of the few places where they actually LISTEN to you, and give you the cut you want. I’ve been to see Maggie numerous times for cuts, color and blowouts and she always did an awesome job. I’m sad because I no longer live close or near Dedham any longer, but if you want a place that’s relaxed, clean, a fun environment and where your stylist takes time with you and listens to your wants — go here! I’ve been to salons ALL over — Newbury, downtown Boston, Brighton, Brookline, Newton — and this place is a hidden gem!

This place is amazing! I have very fine flat hair and asked Maggie if she could make it appear thicker. She cut it a way it’s never been cut before and it looks great, full and with more volume!
My second time I went in for highlights with Maggie. Where my hair is so fine it came out lighter than I wanted so I called within in a couple days and Maggie said she’d stay after hours some week night to see me. I told her that wasn’t necessary and I came in that Saturday and she fixed it to exactly the shade I wanted free of charge!
Lida did my eyebrows and they were great as well, gave me an arch I never had before.
The ladies are very friendly and down to earth, they know their stuff and the prices are great. I highly recommend this place!

I’ve been seeing either of the co-​owners — Maggie and Lida — for many years now. Followed them from the previous salon they worked at in Westwood. They’re both great at cut, color and styling and do it all without an ounce of the pretense found in most other places. Quite the opposite — they couldn’t be any nicer or welcoming. The salon is lovely and spotless. Love, love Color Me Up :)

What a fabulous establishment that is seemingly flying under the radar. Since I don’t color my hair I was a bit hesitant to contact this salon but thank god that I did. Upon my initial phone call Maggie listened patiently as I explained my hair needs. I use the ISO Straightening System which is unknown to many stylists and is not easy to find. Maggie contacted the company ordered the product and did a fabulous job on my hair. From the application of the chemical, washing, conditioning, cut and blow dry. She is extremely knowledgeable about straightening systems and the overall care of your hair.
I got compliments galore and I can’t wait to go back. This salon’s space is clean, aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. There is a sense of community at Color Me Up which allows you to enjoy the other patrons, have a cup of coffee and a good laugh. This salon is not just about hair coloring. It is so good to have a stylist who you can completely trust no matter what your hair issue is. Lida even took the time to fill in my eyebrows during my visit. Every hair need is addressed in addition to make-​up. This place is a diamond in the rough!

A couple of weeks I got my eyebrows waxed. Unfortunately, the lady (think it was Lida) that did it had no sense of symmetry. One eyebrow was round, and the other had an arch, although both of my eyebrows are perfectly arched. She only had to clean-​up and do minor shaping. However, friendly staff and pricing is good ($ 20 for Lip and Eyes). I would only go to them again for a very simple clean-​up, no shaping.

Lida does a fantastic job on my hair. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I have been going there for years. She and Maggie are so friendly. I enjoy going there for a haircut.

Okay!!! I love love love Lida! she just knows what the f_​_​_​she’s doin. Really, i won’t go anywhere else.
One time i couldn’t get it with her so i went to Maggie and the results were the same. These women really know how to deal with stick straight hair.
I can’t believe this is the same mop i went in there with this afternoon.

I LOVE this salon! The owners are great and make you feel like part of the family! They do an AMAZING job and have a great atmosphere! I go there and get my hair styled, eyebrows done (which allot of people have messed up, so I was ECSTATIC to find a place that does them the way I like!), and I buy all of my make up there! They have a huge selection of Bare Minerals makeups and they also know how to help you pick out the colors and foundations that work for you! I always leave feeling great and looking even better!
