Dr. Thomas Gill is an outstanding surgeon and a great people person as well. He operated on my torn meniscus with miraculous results. I was on crutches for 1 day and had no pain after the surgery. The 2^nd day I was literally walking with no pain which I could not believe! The operation from start to finish was done very professionally and he has a wonderful staff. I would highly recommend him and believe he is the best in his field!

Dr. Gill is by far the best doctor I have even been to. I live in Rhode Island and we really don’t have doctors like him! Its definitely worth the 40 minute ride. I have never had to wait in his office which is a huge plus for me. He’s a great surgeon but also a great guy. He never rushes me out of the office and he always takes the time to answer my questions and really listen to me. I personally will never go anywhere else. His entire staff has been fantastic!!!

Dr Tom Gill performed orthroscopy surgery on my right shoulder repairing the torn rotator cuff, a SLAP tear and shaving the joint. 6 months following the surgery with twice per week PT sessions, I have full range of motion and most of my strength back. He is an excellent surgeon and a great doctor who takes time with his patients and answers all questions as needed. His staff is very knowledgeable, responsive and helpful.

I am a 57 year old female and tore my ACL and PCL. Dr Gill performed surgery on these tears and within 4 months my knee was as good as new. There is no better Sports Orthopedic Surgeon in New England!

Dr. Gill has taken wonderful care of me for more than ten years. He is an attentive listener, and is a caring, skilled, and realistic surgeon. Dr. Gill has consistently made accurate diagnoses of my injuries and ailments; with each injury or ailment, he has prescribed treatments that resulted in improvement. Dr. Gill performed surgery on me at Massachusetts General Hospital and at MGH West (in Waltham), and I have maintained the highest level of confidence in him throughout my worries, aches, pains, surgery, and rehab.

I came to Dr Gill with 1 problem and left with another. I have not been happy with the service through Dr. Gill’s office. I started haveing pain in a completely new area in the post-​op period after going through PT. It was extremely difficult to see Dr. Gill. I often had to travel to a separate office despite working next door to his main office, just to see him in a reasonable amount of time. After returning to him multiple times with similar complaints, there was either reassurances or offers of injections. I would have appreciated a more complete approach, including speaking with my PT, evaluating me biomechanically or at least referring me to a physiatrist or someone else to take a look at the problem. It was too difficult to see Dr. Gill in the post-​op period. I often saw fellows who were not involved in my surgery, despite being a physician myself. The only thing that helped was getting a new PT, who evaluated me more completely. Eventually a visit to another orthopedic surgeon helped with the diagnosis and supported this treatment approach. Treatment consisted of IT band work, stretches, and focusing on specific muscle groups. I’m writing this a year after my surgery, because I still have pain in this new area, despite strict adherance to my PT exercises. What would I have liked better? 1) being able to see my physician, the one who operated on me, in the post-​op period rather than fellows who were not at all involved in the procedure, 2) better attention to my specific complaints, some of which I thought were dismissed, to look for a diagnosis/​mechanism of pain rather than a cut or inject approach, 3) communication with my PT, which I had stressed was important to me before my surgery. Of course the PT (MGH sports med) wasn’t very helpful either…

It has been more than 2 years since I torn my right ACL. Although it’s not as same as before the tear, it has been far, far, far, far better than the time I was playing sports with torn ACL.
My knee is so steady that I am now able to enjoy boxing, kickboxing and brazilian jujutsu! One last piece is wrestling. I am working on it gradually.
