Thanks for keeping the family orchard experience going! Love that this orchard continues to be a very inexpensive fun family outing. Every other orchard around is commercialized and way more expensive. Thanks for the great day!

You walk in, and right away, you see goats, pigs, an ox(I think?) with big horns, calves, chicks, a few corn-boxes(like sand, but with corn), sit on tractors, and see lots… all for free. They have a shop to buy apples, etc, and a trailer ride behind a tractor is currently two dollars a person. This is an inexpensive place to tire out the kids and have fun! The owner walks around and is very friendly, the tractor ride was great!

This was definitely worth the drive out to Delano from Minneapolis. The orchard is family run, not as Disney-fied as Applejack Orchards, has great prices and a range of activities and lots of open space for kids. Unlike Applejack, you can pick apples every day, not just the weekend, which is vital — weekends at orchards(probably even this one) are chaotic. We went on a Monday, and there were maybe 30 – 40 people there, despite the perfect weather and abundance of ripe apples waiting to be picked. Lots of little animals for the kids to interact with — baby goats, kittens, chicks, etc. Honeycrisp apples were ready, and we picked out own. They also had the SweeTango and a handful of other varieties. Left with enough apples for many weeks and lots of great photos.

Best Wagon Ride Ever. Is that a weird thing to say about an apple orchard? Maybe, but I cannot say enough about the wagon ride. For $ 1.50, you’ll get to learn about MN apple history(I promise you want to know more about Sweet Tangos) AND you’ll get to touch and taste many other crops(Like soybeans, buckwheat, cotton and tobacco) AND you will get to stop and pick your own mini gourd. The orchard has many many animals including babies.(No touching the baby pigs this year = fine by me! I’d rather just look every year!) There are currently at least two friendly little kittens roaming around. Three dried corn pits = tons of fun for kids. Countless trivia questions to amuse the grandparents. Oh wait — what about apples? Well, we didn’t pick this trip bc we were having so much fun doing other things, but the sign said Honeycrisp only, sold by the pound(some orchards sell by the bag) We bought some in the little store. Also, we were encouraged to pick up apples from the ground and feed them to the cows. Love it. There is some sort of grill open on weekends when perhaps there is more of a crowd. On labor day the crowd was light. The store sells cold drinks and hand sanitizers plus some jellies and jams in addition to the apples. Dont forget your sunscreen on sunny days even as it gets cooler.
