This was actually my second time here. Last visit I had the fried fish, which was perfect! Crispy breading & light white fish. Overall lovely evening on the deck. This visit I had a Caesar salad with steak. I wish there were more steak, but it was well prepared and the dressing was excellent. Service both times was great. I predict this place will be a Delmar standard.

I ordered the Bangers and Mash. It was great. The mashed potatoes with the gravy were awesome. I also got the Irish onion soup. It was also great. My wife ordered the Irish tacos. She loved them. Great food and great service!

We had a good time at O’Slatterys after an afternoon of roaming around the neighborhood’s garage and estate sales. I ordered a refreshing sparkling rosé(or two) and the Dubliner sandwich(turkey, cheddar, granny smith apple slices and cranberry mayo). I enjoyed it and took half of it home for dinner, as it was pretty hefty(the steak fries also do their part to fill the stomach, of course). My husband ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and was perhaps slightly less satisfied with his meal. It was heavy on the bleu cheese in some parts of the wrap and devoid of it in others. I took a bite and agreed that the cheese was overpowering. The chicken, however, was crispy and very tasty. Some attention to balance would benefit this wrap, I think. The ambiance of the dining area in the bar was nice, and the space was open and comfortable. The service was also excellent. We agreed that we would return!

Made my first visit and had no trouble getting a spot in the dining room with a great view of the basketball game on TV. I went with 3 Irish tacos and expected the smaller tacos you expect anymore. And I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions, as well as the local beers. Amanda was a very attentive server and I will be coming back to taste more of the beers and food.

Food was very good but service was very slow… The two of us waited an inordinate amount of time to be served… Since this Restaurant is new… I’m thinking they have to get it all together.

This place was recommended to us by someone who lives in Delmar and we thought we would give it a try for our mid-week date night. We went about 7:30 on a Wednesday and the dining room portion was bustling. We sat in the dining room because there were no high top tables available in the bar area. The dining room had a bit of a fishy odor as a table was all having the fish and chips as we passed — which looked amazing so I ordered that. I was not disappointed — crispy and flaky with an excellent tangy slaw and«meaty» steak fries on the side(they were really good). My beloved had the garden burger which he said was excellent — a black bean burger with a spicy chipotle sauce — he loved it. We would come again. On our way out, we looked at the bar room and the bar itself is spacious and welcoming — I would like to sit in there next time at the rectangular wooden bar. I think this restaurant/pub is a very good addition to the Main Street shops — you can drive right by and not notice it as the sign is on the building but pay attention and discover this gem that has Delmar rushing to it. Family friendly. Dining room is noisy when full. Service was very attentive. Some nice decorations like the front door with stained glass. We will come back and try some new things — the beer menu has about 20 beers on tap that please all — some surprises as well as expected standards like Guinness. While we did not eat dessert as we were full, I noted that they get some of their desserts from local bakeries such as Cheesecake Machismo and Bake for You, which is great. Try this place out, you’ll be back!

Good food and a easy menu. If a place has too many options, they are not concentrating on quality!

Tried them again after first week debacle; order two things for take out… great Buffalo Chicken Wrap, wrong fries. Two things in a slow day folks… really?

It’s a great addition to the neighborhood and nice alternative to Swifty’s, which has its charms but some of its deep-fried food offerings are a bit trying on the digestive tract. There’s a nice bar and standing tables, service is really nice and efficient.

Nice atmosphere, good food. Friendly service. Had a burger with a pretzel bun. I was impressed. Nice, simple way to change up a staple and not hurt the flavor, but rather enhance it. Was a little too warm inside for my liking but with the weather here this winter I’m sure this was not the only place that had trouble regulating the HVAC. I will definitely try this place again.

Got the worst pint ever maybe. $ 7, plastic 12 oz. cup, inch of foam at the top. Can’t say I could ever go to an establishment that treats you like that. Nice place otherwise. Too cheap for a real pint pour and glass is fairly miserable though.

Went for the other day and had a pretty good experience overall, just a few annoying things that brought my rating down… First, the high top tables in the bar area are terribly uncomfortable. I love the look of them, but there is no leg room and I was leaning and uncomfortable the entire meal. Second, I ordered my burger with no bun and it came with a bun. And the server asked if it was ok if he brought me a plate and I could remove it myself. Not a huge deal, just not the way I would have preferred it be handled. Food was delicious, especially the sweet potato fries. All in all I’d go back and give them another chance and hope they iron our a few wrinkles.

Giving them a middle ground 3 star rating because while I feel there are a few things to improve on, they get a lot right, and it is an overall cool place with a ton of potential. The good: Location — From what I’ve heard/seen, there aren’t many options for bars in the area, so I see them doing well based on that fact alone. They bring something different than a chain establishment. Ambiance — I’ve only dined in the bar area, which can get loud, so be prepared. But I love the décor and feel of the space. The tables are made of natural wood and whiskey barrels. The service and staff — extremely friendly and attentive. The bar staff especially. The drink options — They have some cool choices for draft beers and ciders that you probably won’t find anywhere else locally. The not so good: Unfortunately, I found the food to be lacking quite a bit. For one, I just noticed online that they have dinner specials, but I don’t recall being notified of that when we sat down. Our table ordered a couple of orders of «Irish nachos» which were just waffle fries with cheese sauce, a small amount of chili, and some sour cream. I think to bring some more authenticity, some homemade potato chips with more interesting toppings would be so much better. Most at my table opted for some sort of burger. Those looked pretty good, as they were served on pretzel buns, but the sides of fries were a bit sad looking. There were hardly any on the plate, and the couple that I tasted were soft and nothing special. Those at the table who ordered the fish and chips seemed to enjoy their entrees. I ordered the Irish cottage pie, which was their version of a Shepherds Pie, which I’ve had at multiple establishments and really enjoyed. Sadly that wasn’t the case here. The meat and vegetables were way overcooked and lacked flavor. The mashed potatoes on top were extremely dry, and again, no flavor. Their prices are also a bit steep for what you get. Husband ordered a side of mashed potatoes for $ 5 and it was a small container, slightly larger than a ramekin serving. These were the same dry mashed potatoes that were on top of my dish, so we didn’t feel that was a good value. Domestic bottle beers are also $ 4 a pop which is a bit excessive. I would definitely recommend sticking to a burger or something simple if you choose to order food. Aside from that, I really hope they step their kitchen game up, because that would really work wonders and solidify their spot in the area. I think the bar is great, and if you are visiting strictly to have a few beers, you won’t be disappointed.

Had a great meal! Hopping in Saturday with a 30 minute wait at 6:30. Nice beer list. All 4 of us enjoyed our meals. Will definitely return.

I came here last night for dinner with my wife and sons. The place was crowded. Despite the crowd, service was reliable and courteous. The burgers are off the wall good. It’s a great mixture of sirloin, short rib, and brisket topped with bacon, Irish cheddar, and garlic aioli sauce served on a pretzel roll with a generous side of fries. The flourless chocolate cake is amazing. I washed it all down with a black and tan and I left very satisfied. I like to eat and I like good portions; this place hit the mark on both. I’m looking forward to bringing my parents here and devouring some fish and chips next time. But the burger was so good, I just might have another one of those. 5÷20÷2016 I did come back, but I had the Irish nachos(made with brisket chili) and the onion soup. It was terrific. My Irish father in law told me that he hadn’t had Guiness this good anyplace outside of Ireland. Again, it was crowded, but the service was great and so was the food.

As other reviewers have stated, I really want to like this place. I’ve eaten there three times now. Granted, I have had different types of burgers only, but they are nothing special. The best part is the pretzel bun. The idea of ordering a burger, though, is wanting a flavorful meat experience. Service can be very slow and for the most part the servers are nice. But the«it’s a new place» thing isn’t working for me anymore. Yes, it’s loud and crowded. It’s a pub. Having been in pubs in Great Britain, they are not as loud unless there is live entertainment. This evening was the last straw. Two of us arrived at 5 to be seated for dinner. There were two tables for four in the dining room and a table for two that was smaller than a school desk. You guessed it… they would only seat us at the tiny table. We asked to be seated at the larger table and the worker refused stating, «I can’t. It’s a table for four.» So if we had a party of three? One shudders to think what might happen. So after tonight, I won’t be back. Last time, I had the burger with the pastrami. I love pastrami but couldn’t eat most of it because it was fatty and thick. I brought it to the attention of the server but was never offered a reduction in price. Not willing to make a fuss, I let it go. I hope they figure it out but I won’t be there to see it. And for the record, I also don’t care for the place«up the street,» so don’t categorize me as a member of a turf war. I just wanted a good meal. Thankfully I went elsewhere and found one.

I WANT to like this place. I WANT it to be so much better than it is. But two visits have convinced me there are better places to eat. First visit was for dinner. Service was fine and another waiter(who was also there at lunch a few weeks later) is great at making the rounds, conversing, making sure everyone’s happy. Husband ordered the dinner sized fish and chips($ 15); when the three tiny pieces of fish arrived, accompanied by a tiny portion of tiny chips, we asked if they had mistakenly sent out the snack size portion($ 9). They assured us it was the dinner portion – but generously offered either another piece of fish or a reduction in price. My husband chose to have another piece of fish – this one a bit larger than the other three. He said the fish was very good. I had their version of a reuben. *sigh*. The sandwich should have been grilled much more. But the corned beef! Way way way too salty. And in the second half, I discovered two large chunks that I was unable to bite! When I mentioned this to the waitress, she thanked me for letting her know and… that was it. I went back another day for lunch. 50 minutes after we were seated, we were finally asked for our drink order. The food was ok, but just ok. My friend had the Irishman’s burger – it was fine but not as good as other burgers in the area – and she was disappointed in the very small amount of sauteed onions and mushrooms. I had their special chili. Ok flavor but very watery – and the tiny portion was way overpriced at $ 6.95. Oh – and serving it with half of a corn muffin just does not look good. Either serve a smaller whole muffin, or a square of cornbread cut from a pan. And the noise. Both times it was so loud; the space is in dire need of some sound absorbing materials. This place will do well because people seem very happy with the bar ambiance. But if you’re looking for a restaurant, there are many other choices with much better food that is not overpriced.

Wow, all these 1-star and 5-star reviews from brand new Unilocalers sure do seem authentic! Smells like a turf battle. But have no fear; Michelle B. is here… without any bias toward this establishment or the competition. Anyhow, the truth(and you deserve the truth) is that the Husband and I came for dinner this week and had a great experience. The few minor flaws were outweighed by good service, a nice atmosphere, and tasty beer and food. We were greeted very warmly and were offered to choose seats in either the bar area — a larger space with hightop tables and pub décor [pics] — or the dining room — a smaller space with standard tables. We chose the bar area because it seemed more… special. I was immediately struck by the number of customers here at 8pm on a weeknight; every seat at the bar was taken(about 15), and multiple tables were full. With roughly 20 beers on tap and a list that includes descriptive flavor profiles(awesome), we took a few minutes to choose from the long list of draft beers [pic]. The food options here include a nice blend of traditional Irish flavors with a modern twist. We had the Snack Fish & Chips appetizer [pic], which was a perfect portion for two. The batter was light, it tasted very fresh, and was complemented nicely by the homemade tartar sauce. For dinner, I chose the grilled Dublin Gobbler sandwich [pic]. I loved the bread, and the flavors were a nice combination, but I would suggest adding more apple and maybe slicing it thicker to maintain a bit of crunch. I initially wondered if the apple had been forgotten, but found it in there when I opened up the sandwich. I was intrigued by the pretzel bun that came with the Husband’s burger [pic], but he doesn’t like to share, so I didn’t sample his dinner until he was done with it. The burger was delicious. Juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked. I didn’t get much of a taste of the bun, though, so I’ll have to order my own next time… or create a distraction to steal a bite of his. Last but not least: the sweet potato fries here are REALLYGOOD. And I don’t type in all caps unless I mean it. Never before have I met a thick-cut sweet potato fry that I liked, but these are AMAZING. They were even better than most thin-cut sweet potao fries I’ve had… if you can believe that. I need to know O’Slattery’s secret to achieving such firm texture and crispy edges on a thick sweet potato fry. No mush to speak of. Wow. My one minor complaint about the service was that the entrees arrived almost immediately after the appetizer. But the food was piping hot, so aside from crowding the table with extra dishes, it turned out to be a non-issue. Each of the staff members we encountered during our visit were very friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be here. So, I’m looking forward to another visit to try more beer and food, and obviously to order extra sweet potato fries.

Excellent new addition to the Delmar — and Capital District dining and pub scene. Great beer list and knowledgeable bartender. The meals are reasonably priced and delicious. I had the steak sandwich, true steak(not shaved mystery meat) on a delicious roll with sautéed mushrooms and onions and a horseradish sauce. Wonderful. I opted for the waffle fries and was glad I did. My wife had the Irish Reuben sandwich, which she loved, and the«black and tan» onion rings, which she said(and I, having grabbed a couple, agreed) were among the best she has had locally. Our server was friendly and efficient. All around, a great experience. I don’t know what the negative reviewers are talking about. Do yourself a favor and try O’Slattery’s for yourself.

O’ Slattery’s is about 2 weeks open now. New restaurants often take months to have all«systems ship shape». My first experience also required a very long wait for the food but that was the second night. So patience and a sense of humor is advised. Liam, Michael, Jackie and their other partner have labored very hard to get the place opened by Christmas and they succeeded! So far I’ve been there 3 times; tonight will be my forth. I have faith enough to go for NewYears Eve with a party of ten. Each time my experience was better. It has all the makings of what will be one of the best places in the Capital District. The owners have the charm you would come to expect in an Irish pub. It’s not an «Irish Pub Inc.». It’s an original in our own back yard. Give it a chance. I brought another party of 30 in and all; I say All; thoroughly enjoyed«The Craic»(ask an Irishman for a translation); the food and the ambience. What’s needed now is perhaps routine Irish entertainment, lower lighting and better acoustics to hear your conversation. After all the pub is about friends, good food, storytelling and humor. If you come without it’d be better that u stayed at home. Welcome O’Slatterys to Delmar Slainte!
