I made a brunch reservation here for the Mother’s Day because everywhere else on the Ave were full. I didn’t know what to expect but it worked out great! The food was awesome and huge portions, the endless bloody Mary’s were strong, and we sat outside on a beautiful day. Our waitress was prompt and pleasant. I’m definitely coming back for a night with live music and can’t wait to try other dishes

So I’d been itching to check out Free House since trying their mac/n/cheese at Delray Bash last year. Luckily after a long walk on the beach, a cold beer was calling to us and instead of heading to Blue Anchor, I remembered that Free House was tucked away on the other side, just shy of the intracoastal. We opted to sit outside because it was a beautiful day, we had a very friendly waitress who informed us we were right at happy hour. Draft beer and sangria $ 4, house wine and wells $ 5. We went for two cold Stellas, which came to us in the appropriate chalice(yay!). I went for the blackened shrimp tacos off the happy hour menu and my guy had the waygu sliders off the main menu. The waitress asked if we needed anything else, and offered my ranch on the side, so I said yeah(I was charged 75c for that. Not quite sure why, are we penny pinching on ranch Free House?) The tacos were yummy considering this is a pub not a mexican joint, it hit the spot, though they went overkill with the black beans. I didn’t think they were really happy hour price more usual entrée price. The sliders were apparently very good, though cooked very well done(though not requested so). At this point everything was good 4 stars, mainly due to the vibe and food was acceptable but not stellar. I figured I couldn’t leave without giving that Smoked Gouda Mac’n’Cheese which was so firmly in my mind a try, i was after all why I needed to come here. Prosciutto, cheddar, parmesan, gouda and bread crumbs? Many people envision heaven as fluffy clouds, I see it as blocks of cheese… this dish was calling my name. It came, looked great, tasted… well underwhelming. Did I psych this up in my head? Possibly, though the description reinforced it right? It seems like ham had replaced the delicate prosciutto, and cheddar was the main player over the gouda, it was good, but it wasn’t what I remember being blown away with at Delray Bash. As our evening was going nice, we had a couple of beers while a singer set up with her guitar outside under the tree. The casual atmosphere was lovely, I was really enjoying everything… then she began to squark… ooooo… oooo.oooohhh. It sounded somewhat like a cat, held by the tail being swung around like a helicopter propeller. I couldn’t bear it, as she destroyed the lovely atmosphere and made the birds in the tree above her, go to another altitude to protect themselves. So why 3 stars, it is A-OK. It is a good spot for a beer and bite, but it wouldn’t stick in your mind enough to rush back, and that’s my honest opinion.

Stopped in for a late lunch. My Chicken Caesar wrap was really dry and the dressing had a slight tinge. I was starving so I ate the whole thing. The French fries were really good. The local draft beer was fantastic. Seemed like more of a sports bar so the place was totally empty during my daytime visit.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch with a big group of girlfriends. We made reservations and sat outside because we knew we would be noisy. A few mimosas in(unlimited for $ 15, if you ask nicely they’ll bring them to you in a pitcher), we were informed by the nasty women at the table next to us(with their dogs in strollers) that we were rude and loud and they couldn’t enjoy their lunch because of us. The mac & cheese was just ok, but the eggs benedict were delicious. Service was quick and prices were reasonable.

My friends and I had dinner here after the Everclear concert last night. Since it was after 10, we were only able to order of the tiny menu. But we were all able to find something to eat. I got the pork tacos. They were tasty. The service was ok. Had to wait a good 10 mins for my iced tea refill.

I only went here for a few drink but the bar tender was great. She was funny and very generous with the pours. Its located just west of the atlantic and A1A so its the perfect pre or post beach watering hole.

The first time we went, we just had a couple beers. Bartender was friendly, quick service, & cold beer. I went back again recently with my brother for lunch. We got wings to start. They were just okay, I don’t know if I’d consider them buffalo. My brother got a burger and said it was good. I got the Cobb salad. The chicken was rubbery, but that’s not the worst part… I didn’t notice till I was ½ — ¾ way through that the romaine was filthy. Dirt on the stems. It’s a Cobb, there’s a lot of stuff on top covering the lettuce and I’m chatting and not analyzing the salad leaves. So yes, my fault for not seeing it earlier but honestly, I wasn’t analyzing because I just assume my salad is clean and I’m a chatter. After I noticed that, I just picked out the clean pieces and didn’t eat much more. I pointed out to the server the dirty leaves and he was appalled and took 20% off the cheque. Very nice of him, but just a warning, if you order here, check your salad greens for dirt! That way you don’t make the same mistake as me by not paying attention and eating a filthy salad! I appreciate the gesture taking 20% off, but I honestly don’t know if I’d order food from here again. If they aren’t making sure the salad greens are dirt free, what else aren’t they checking? Ick.

I wish I didn’t have to give this place any stars! The margarita was terrible. That should have been my first indicater about the food to come. My wife had BBQ chicken wings, they dry and cold. I had the fish & chips, the fries tasted the fry oil hadn’t been changed in a month. The fish, what fish? 5 times as much breading as fish. Cooked in the same oil. Plus we had to ask for silverware. We never received ketchup or salt and pepper. Needless to say we won’t be going there again or recommending this place to anyone. To bad because it has a beautiful courtyard setting.

I wouldn’t waste my time here. There are so many better places in Delray. I work in the offices upstairs and both times I’ve ordered to-go they get the order wrong(adds onions when asked for none) etc. and the staff are not friendly and have no customer service skills whatsoever. They pretty much just slap your check on the bar. I ordered a salad once and chicken Caesar wrap the other and I could have made it myself much better — soggy lettuce, corn right out of a can it seemed. And the prices are not cheap. No one at my office will order anymore from here.

Freehouse replaced DIG and is simply another average pub. It has the same setup as DIG with a medium size bar and outdoor seating. I had the sliders and wings which were OK. I also expected more from the drinks. The mixed drinks were not very good. I don’t have any reason to go back with the numerous pubs in Delray that have better drinks and food.

Curt, attentive and friendly service. The lunch special is a great deal! The food is delicious. I ordered the pub pretzels and the sauces were great. I also got the margherita flatbread and it was yummy. It only costed $ 9 and it came with a salad. I would recommend for lunch and if you want a fun, family-friendly place to eat.

Food was decent but severely overpriced — drinks were very sugary and also overpriced. Water was $ 6 per bottle. Same as beer.

Best. Hollandaise. Sauce. Ever. Cool spot. Friendly staff, decent beer selection, food menu will satisfy most anyone. The trio sliders are delicioussss. It’s another gastropub but I never get sick of those and this way we have one more east. I think they used to do a mystery beer for 3 bucks and I don’t know if they stopped it but it was so much fun seeing what the bartender pulled out from the bottom cooler!

I was enticed to try this place, tucked in a little shopping division right off Atlantic, for a quick bite to eat. The location is nice — a little off the main road and even has a parking lot. Service was good — we sat outside. A few people had some well-behaved dogs. Their beer selection is OK — quite a few local beers on draft — but nothing worth coming out of the way for beer wise. Food was just OK. We got the pretzels — which were the normal, everybody-has-‘em pretzel sticks with a few sauces. The honey mustard was typical, the morney cheese sauce was interesting, but not my favorite pairing with the pretzel they used. The cheese sauce was good, just used a sweet cheese that was a bit strange with the pretzel. We also ordered the three sliders — a beef, a chicken, and a pulled pork. The pork was very salty and watery. The beef was the best and had some good onions on it, but still wasn’t ‘knock you out of the park’ good. It would be your best bet to get — it would go well with a beer. The chicken was rubbery — but the fried onions on it were good so I picked those off to eat. Overall, it was kind of the same quality of food you find at any sports bar and nothing special. Would be a nice place to come and watch a game with a beer, not necessarily the best place for lunch.

We watched some NFL games here with friends on a Sunday afternoon. The service was friendly, helpful and efficient. It wasn’t too crowded and we easily obtained a nice table inside to watch the games. My only complaint would be that the food was just ok. Nothing special. They did have a nice happy hour/drink specials, including mimosa, bloody Mary’s, and beer bucket specials, which my friends took advantage of. I would recommend this place for a sports bar in east Delray.

A new sports bar has replaced DIG. A very large space with loads of TVs and space. We took the former Unilocalers reviews suggestions and ordered the sprouts and the wings. True to form both appetizers were great. The wings were meaty, fresh and covered with a thin layer of slaw. The sprouts were fresh and tasty although the sauce of these two apps tasted very similar. We shared a plain burger. We had two choices of free add ons and chose grilled onions and mushrooms. The burger was tasty, cooked just right and the bun was fresh. Chose always rather than fries which was fresh but lakes taste. There were two cuties going table to table with a vodka promotion which would be fun if we were drinkers. When the football game started the place really came alive. Great location with parking. Enjoy.

Amazing service! Everything we ordered was recommendable: goat cheese croquettes, Brussel sprouts!, Vietnamese wings to start! To go: the thai wrap and black bean burger. Omg! So tasty! Cantelope cooler was an awesome start and the Ave East was ended the night! Both very very good!!! Overall, go! There are amazing food combinations to love.

Stopped in Free House on a Thursday night. Great new addition to Atlantic Ave. Free parking in their lot — big plus! Special the night I was there was $ 2 sliders. had one of each — pork, chicken, wagyu beef. All were great. Definitely will be back.

Went to check out the new Free House eatery that replaced DIG. Very cool sports bar/pub concept. They have tvs everywhere, including outside. Great menu, simple and to the point. We had the black bean egg rolls that were delicious and we’ll be back to try out the rest of the menu. This place will be hard to beat for the upcoming football season.
