I had a terrible experience living here. The staff is extremely rude, and have no idea what’s going on. There was broken glass in the pool on two separate occasions, tow trucks are driving through constantly, the furniture is already broken when you move in, and you WILL pay on average 65/70+ in electricity, don’t let them lie to you. Also, if you feel like sleeping at night, good luck. There were parties almost every night with people yelling/running up and down the stairs. DONOTLIVEHERE.

Gateway is a good place for UNT students to transition from on-campus living to off-campus living. Affordable for a student, but you get what you pay for. Wifi sucks, you’re not allowed to buy your own router(?!) so you’re kind of screwed with that. Also, the walls are very thin. However, living here is easy for the most part– especially being so close to the college. Though, I will be moving on to a better place when I have the funds.

Have fun constantly changing internet networks(have changed twice while writing this). I have only had fast internet on two occasions(at night), both times, the following morning we had reps from Airwave(IP) knock on our door claiming they needed to «reset/fix» our router for us(shadyyy). Then it would go back to being dial up speed. They even joke about their terrible internet service on their Facebook page because they don’t care. They also have closed the pool both summers I have lived here for almost the entire month of June so that they can refinish the pool(Again, because they don’t care). They have 12 months to choose from, and they purposely wait until June so that they limit the amount of time people can use it. There’s no reasonable excuse for this. The property manager is either planning poorly, is stupid, or is purposely ripping people off. So, when viewing the pool, remember to subtract June. During Aug. 2013 my car was broken into, and they tried to remove my stereo system. Also in Aug. 2013 a HUGE(we’re talking bonfire huge) fire was started in the middle of the parking lot at 3am after someone set a pile of 20+ couches on fire. A couple months later, someone smashed out the windows of several cars parked in the complex. DONOTSENDMAILHERE. The student workers are responsible for placing your mail into the slots, and 50% of the time you will have someone else’s. There has been numerous occasions where I have opened my mail slot, to have the entire wall of mail open(I could have stolen everyone’s mail) with it because the student employee did not lock it afterwards. Do not have anything important sent here as I had a $ 250 package be lost in the office after it was signed for. This is probably the cheapest 4×4 student apartment in Denton… and with good reason. I highly recommend that any new residents come with an air purifier for the apartment. It only takes one month for the filter in the air conditioner to turn completely black. I wish I could give a separate review for maintenance, as they have always been pretty solid. I recommend you call about your problems,(opposed to using online form) as my issues were always handled within the hour.

When I first moved into Gateway, in September of 2013, I had a feeling this complex knew how to take care of it’s residents. I was wrong. Its definitely an overpriced student living complex, managed by some thick headed students. I’m currently battling them on some ridiculous move out charges, that I’m about to give up on, and pay out over exhaustion of dealing with incompetent 20-year-olds. As you would imagine, customer service is definitely lacking, so don’t expect complex questions to be answered well, or apartment related issues to be taken care of. You’ll receive some excuse as to why they can’t help, and sent on your way. If you’re a student paying you’re own bills(as I am), I advise you to look elsewhere for residence. Same to the parents paying for their child’s stay. Eek! Methinks not, indeed.
