I ordered delivery because I was desperate for sushi and didn’t want to leave the house. I was quoted a 45−60min wait but they arrived somewhere between 30 – 45 which was nice! The sushi was great! I had the dentist roll, no complaints.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant. They have good specials and the fish is fresh. The happy hour is nice for sake and their sushi bar is friendly. It’s not expensive, but probably not the cheapest place either. I’m a fan of their Robbie San hand roll.

So I used to go to this place all the time when I lived in Denver back in 2011 – 2013 and then I moved to Portland, Oregon which has some unbelievably fresh fish, and so when I just got back to Denver I had to hit up banzai again cuz it was an old favorite… I don’t know if Oregon ruined me or they went downhill but there was really nothing special about Banzai. Everything was average at best, which was very disappointing because I really used to like this place. Honestly I probably will not be back. Such a shame. I hope a different sushi place in Denver will be able to deliver!

My mom and I go there because we love their small sushi rolls. Todays experience was awful. We got a California roll and was filled with mayo and the spicy tuna roll was not spicy and had avocado in them. We tried a couple of them and then let the server know we didn’t like them. The owner manager was upset that we didn’t like them and tried to talk us into why the rolls were good. We said, sorry, we don’t like them and explained they are different than what we have ever had there. She was trying to tell us that wasn’t true. She said she would take only half off the price on the roll because we ate some of them. How would you know if you didn’t like something, if you didn’t try it. I will NEVER be back and recommend you stay away. I highly recommend Blue Fin sushi!

I really like Bonsai Sushi. Great sushi, great service, great prices. Only thing missing is some fruit(Apple, Mango, etc) in some of the rolls. One of my rolls had lettuce in it which seems a little odd to me. There are a ton of rolls and for the most part they are really good but there is nothing particularly«really special» or appearing«chef created.» I love their large selection of Hand Rolls.

Great selection, quality of rolls, and fast friendly service. I ordered online and drove ½ mile and my order was ready for pickup as soon as I walked in.

Sushi snob here. Their sushi isn’t world class, nor is it amazing, but it’s very good, and much better than what you’ll find elsewhere in Denver for lots more money. They have a HUGE roll selection, and though I stuck to more traditional fare, they looked really appetizing. Service was excellent and prompt. Atmosphere is clean and inviting. Full menu for other Japanese fare as well. Well worth the money, I will definitely be back.

Good sushi here, small place so it stays relatively quiet. Good selection of sushi and some funny names to the rolls too. We took my mother in law here for her birthday and she got wasted off of saki, she claims that never happens so they must be using some secret extra strength stuff in there! They even gave us complimentary ice cream which was very nice. The staff here is also friendly and professional.

The service here is great and the staff is polite and cordial. We had several baked rolls and the sushi sashimi combo– which was outstanding. Our waitress went above and beyond when realized we were celebrating our engagement and didn’t charge us for the dessert tray– compliments of the house. Was it a great experience? Yes absolutely. Was the food great? Yes, to that too. Will be coming back soon.

I’m very surprised this place gets bad reviews. I just want to start off by saying that I’ve been coming to Banzai since 2011 when I moved from Connecticut to Denver. I’ve eaten a lot of sushi around metro Denver area including Sushi Den and I have to say, this place is the best. My boyfriend is from New Hampshire and we know fresh seafood and we go here at least once a month. It’s locally own and operated. The chefs are actually Japanese. They have many hand rolls that I enjoy. I love their yellowfin tuna. The services have gotten better since they’ve hired more younger people who carry conversations.

This is a great place to grab some sushi for lunch. It seems so authentic when you come in. The dish-ware is awesome. The service is great as well. I came on a Monday this time, but I know during the week there can be a wait for lunch. I would call ahead. They also have places near the booth to hang your jacket or purse which I find to be really convenient. They have so many rolls its a bit absurd. If there’s something in particular you like and don’t see just ask. They usually have it. I always ask for white tuna and a salmon skin roll which neither are on the menu. I’m going to put up a photo of the hand roll. The lunch combo comes with soup and salad which is also nice. Today I got the sushi sashimi combo which came with both. The fish tasted great. I ordered a yellowtail collar which was also good. My mother ordered some Uni which came with quail eggs. She also doesn’t like to eat carbs so she orders her hand rolls and everything else without rice. The chefs always happily prepare it the way she likes. I recommend this place. They close at 2pm and re open at 5pm just as a heads up

Quick, decent sushi. Gyoza was very good, however, ponzu sauce was very salty. Service was friendly, but had to ask 2 times for sugar with hot tea, and had to stir with my chopstick as I was not brought a spoon. It’s a cute, small place. Also had a $ 25 gift certificate through . Would return

Its a toss between 3 to 3.5 stars… Wednesday December 17th2014. My friend and I went to Banzai Sushi for Lunch. We arrived at Banzai about 11:30hrs ish. THANKGOD we arrived early coz by the time its NOON this establishment is packed to the brim. Is this a good sign? I do hope so coz I bet most who came are often the Regulars. If I am NOT mistaken my friend opt to have 1 hand roll, Mercedes roll, and a Soup I opt to have the following items : * Unagi($ 5.75) * Scallops($ 5.25) * Uni($ 8.00) * Amaebi Sweet Shrimp($ 7.75) * Kani Snow Crab($ 7.25) * Tamago($ 4.25) * Takoyaki($ 5.00) Overall they offer unique name of rolls that I have not seen in other Sushi establishment before. ALOT to list, mind you. But I am here for just the Sushi or Nigiri. My Highlight Lunch item is Takoyaki. For one, NOT all Sushi establishment in town offer this item. That is good in my books. But for $ 5, they can do better to «WOW» me, with those Takoyaki Octopus Balls. As for my order of Nigiris, all is OK, for one of the Uni I ate, was a little fishy for my taste bud. *SIGH* Another highlight was the Tamago… Coz its huge and 80% of the Tamago its the egg itself, and have less rice. Why cant every Sushi establishment offer this kind of portion of TAMAGO compared to the sushi rice. I whispered to myself… During Lunch hours Banzai is indeed slam with a lot of patrons who might be the regulars what nots. So please be patient in terms of getting your food or your check. There are only 2 working staffs for the servers when we were there that morning/afternoon for Lunch. My friend likes her soup order and she does not mind returning. As for me, I don’t mind returning too, coz there are other options that I might want to order. If I am NOT mistaken, our lovely server her name is Kat. Left Banzai Sushi about 13:00hrs ish. You know how Jay Cutler is playing for the Bears lately? Little care, no passion? That describes my experience at Banzai sushi tonight. I noted someone else wrote in today(Sarah W.), with a very similar experience. Our sushi roll-gummy, dare I say, chewy, as if the sticky rice had been left out from lunch service and used for dinner. The fish, mushy, and the black avocado-yes, black(we thought it was a cooked mushroom at first), made me push my dish away. Seeking solace in my tea, I warmed my hands around the cup, sipped, and cringed, Sarah W. is right, it really did taste like a hint of mildew. As for service. The server seemed disinterested as we placed our order for(2) happy hour appetizers, soup, and a sushi roll. She recited the whole order and walked away. Wanting to ensure our intention of ordering appetizers as appetizers and a roll as our entrée we clarified with her«Just want to be sure the appetizers are ordered as appetizers-they’ll come out first, right? She responded with«I’ll try, the kitchen is behind tonight.» ??? I’m disappointed. And hungry. We’ve eaten here with GREAT experiences before, I suspect the manager/owner was away this evening, as this has not been our typical experience at this establishment.

Good sushi, but a little overpriced. We went for what I thought was happy hour, but they did not have it that day(it was a holiday).

To update my 2010 review, I can say that I will still give it a five star review. Price, quality, taste, and service are all in tact. I love consistency. I did miss seeing the owner last night who is very interactive and interesting. Staufer(sp?) if you are reading this, its been a few years(I came several times after the first time but not for a while) I’d like to say well done on providing a great variety of menu items that have all proven delicious. The Nigori cold unfiltered Saki was also a hit. Also compliments to our waiter Steven/James(? sorry) for being attentive and curteous in taking birthday pics and splitting the checks. Hopefully you have a happy hour… DT.

I came here with reservations for 9PM. The host knew I had reservations when I walked in without my telling him so. They must have been waiting on us. The place was busy as there was a giant party of maybe 20 people in the middle of the restaurant. They lingered around for a long time after their meal and were chatty/noisy but I enjoyed the liveliness they added to the restaurant. Even so the owner came up to me and apologized for their noise and made a couple funny jokes about how I should tell them to shh. It was a nice gesture. Fortunately, the noise wasn’t a big deal to me. I, in fact, prefer the lively ambience over a quiet one. What I tried: Rolle fiesta roll(on their specials menu) with lime wedge and red spices on top Number 1 with sesame oil, sesame seeds and lemon Number 97 with tuna Edamame $ 5 Our waiter asked us if we wanted edamame and I said sure not knowing that edamame was actually $ 5. Most sushi places I’ve been to give this to you for free. So when it came I asked the waiter to take it back because we weren’t aware that it cost money. The waiter was about to send it back but then he gave it to us anyway for free because it was past 9PM and he said they’d throw it out anyway. My favorite roll of the three I tried was number 97. My least favorite was the rolle fiesta roll. I thought all of the rolls tasted fine but the portion size was smaller than I expected. I did enjoy that the rolls were small enough for you to take a single bite out of them rather than the awkward two bites where your sushi is forced to fall apart. Thirteen bucks isn’t a bad price for a sushi roll but given the small size of the rolls, I would consider this place a tad pricey.

I came here specifically for the takoyaki! It’s the only place around Denver area that I know of that makes takoyaki! Taste is great. There’s only 4 to an order. But each takoyaki is actually quite big. So I think it’s well worth the price. I did a quick take out, but while waiting for the food to be made. The staff were very nice. Came over and offer me water, which I thought that was very thoughtful of them. Overall. The place is small, but has a nice quiet atmosphere where I think if you’re going on a date or something can come to. Their menu also have a very wide range of sushi selection to chose from. Will be back for more for sure!!! — for those takoyaki… Hehe… And maybe bring some friends to try some of their sushi eventually.
