I had higher expectations for this place and 2 dishes stood out and were Divine, but I still can only give an over all 3 star maybe 3.5. So my youngest daughter is expanding her palate beyond truffles«thank the gods!» Because she’s into French Cuisine, while on the other hand Hubby Hates everything French. lol This place over all is definitely one of the worse French places I’ve eaten at aside from the 2 dishes I will review about. Service — HORRIBLE! The guy took forever, and the old people next to use came way after us and got there food before we did & We were dying of thirst for more water because he never refilled the bottle they leave on our table. They took our bread, which we had more than ½ left, which was fine if they offered us another bread like he did with the old couple next to us, but Nope he did not! He dropped there dishes and the glass wine right next to me and I was wearing a dress and felt the glass shatter on my leg. Lucky I didn’t get cut, but he didn’t even APOLOGIZE! WTF!!! I don’t like to complain or cause scenes, which is why I Unilocal. So here’s the low down! French onion soup — ABSOLUTELYHORRIBLE! Where is the cheese? there was hardly any, and it literally tasted like Store bought broth, but worse, which nasty bread. What a waste of $ 7. Escargot — The sauce was tasty, but the escargot didn’t seem to have soaked in any of the flavor and very disappointing. Worse escargot I’ve had yet as well! Cauliflower salad — Now this was Out of this WORLDGOOD! I wish I got 2 more of these instead of the first 2 above. My daughter & I aren’t big fans of cauliflower to begin with, but I’m a sucker for anything with capers and anchovies, so we got this and was Instantly in Heaven! Steak Frites — Classique — This was pretty good, but the meat was sliced too thick and it was a bit rubbery, but the sauce was good. The fries were kind of over cooked borderline burnt tasting or stale. Roasted Chicken — THIS was Literally my daughter & I’s best Roasted Chicken we’ve EVERHAD! The sauce was nice and salty and it gave the veggies and chanterelle mushrooms the Perfect seasoning! The skin on the chicken was Divine and perfectly crispy. This was HEAVENLYSINFULLYDELICIOUS! Crème Brulee– THis was good, but you really can’t make bad CB if you offer in in a restaurant, or you’d really go out of business. Over all Even though the 2 Main dishes were Off the HOOK good, I still could not give this place more than 3 stars because service was«THATBAD!» I’ve had Much better service for spending 75% less than this place at Hole in the wall DIner’s! Yup, I won’t even give this place another chance eating in, but maybe a carry out for the Cauliflower salad & Roasted chicken.

This is such a charming restaurant! My husband and I stumbled upon this place the other day and we decided to try it. We sat on the patio, which felt kind of secluded from the Main Street and very romantic. Both of us tried cocktails, which were delicious. We had the steak tartare appetizer, which was really tasty, and then the entrees were delicious as well. The portions are small, but that is good if you want to save room for a 3-course meal with appetizer and dessert. The server also chose the wines to pair with our entrees, and his choices were excellent. Overall, it was a romantic and very delicious restaurant experience for a special date night. :)

I’ve been here twice now. Once for a private event and once for my birthday brunch because everybody kept telling me how great their brunch is. They were right. First of all, the service was nothing less than stellar. Everybody who helped us was top notch, attentive, and totally on point. I have met the owner Beth at a couple of food events, and she’s wonderful. The ambiance is great, and I love the location. Between everybody in our group, I think we tried a significant portion of the menu, and there was not a complaint in the group. The omelet, the burger, the waffles, the yogurt, the pastries… everything was to die for. The cocktails were wonderful, and to top it all off, they ended the meal with a birthday card signed by the whole staff. We’re already talking about when we want to go back. I’m a fan. Can you tell?

Horrible service. The hostess said they were full for the day but we could find a seat in the bar area. We sat there for 20 minutes. Every server walked by and just looked at us. We even asked the hostess if we need to actually go to the bar to order and she said she would send someone over. That never happened. We ended up just leaving. It’s a shame because I have been here before and everything was phenomenal.

Had a beautiful date night in the BV courtyard. What a great little restaurant. My wife and I started with cocktails and finished with a couple glasses of nice white French wines(selections recommended by our server). Our starters were french onion soup and PEI mussels — both were winners. The crostini and cheese on the French onion soup was amazing. Also, the white wine/garlic/butter broth with the mussels was amazing. Our entrees: she had Gnoccis de Printemps(winner of the night). The Gnoccis were slightly crispy and served in a garlic-truffle sauce(totally standout). I had Epaul Boeuf Braisee — a pretty standard delivery of braised beef. It was great but not standout by any means. Our experience was made by the ambiance — what a beautiful restaurant! Great service with proactive recommendations from the waitstaff. A French wine lover would be at home with their nose in BV’s wine list.

We had a delicious Sunday brunch at Bistro before heading to the Rockies game. The table started with an assortment of charcuterie and cheeses, all of which were fantastic. We were also given warm baguettes with butter, and some sort of fried«chips» with honey. I ordered the omelet with lyonnaise potatoes(in place of the potato salad) and a side of fruit, as well as a Fleur de Lis cocktail. My omelet was absolutely incredible, and the fruit was very fresh. My cocktail was tasty, and the potatoes were good as well. The outdoor patio where we sat was absolutely beautiful, far back off Larimer street so it was much quieter. Our waitress was relatively attentive and friendly, and was knowledgable about the menu. My only complaint would be with regards to the Bloody Mary, which I personally disliked so strongly that I did not finish it and gave it to a friend. It tasted like I was drinking straight from a jar of cocktail sauce, and just was not for me. Everything else was incredible and I would highly recommend!

I was prepared to return home and issue a two-star review after the first two entrees I ordered were sold out. But exceptional service, incredible appetizers, and outstanding culinary savvy created an experience that is difficult to find in Denver’s mediocre food scene. Try the beef tartare to get started.

Not too many restaurants in this class! Visited here while on business. It is tucked in the alley along with a few more stores. As the name implies, this is as French as it gets! The ambiance is country French and the menu holds many nuggets. We shared their escargot en crote with hazelnuts and it was awesome! I ordered the chicken breast and it was extremely flavorful. Outstanding! My niece ordered the mussels and she loved them! Our server, Shelby, was professional and attentive. Amazing place, amazing food and amazing service! All worth the price!

We arrived early and without a reservation. The restaurant is tucked away inside a historical building, that it almost felt like we were in France. The hostess seated us right away for it was still early in the evening and there were still tables left. Because I have a home in France, you often take me to French places. We were enticed by its beef tartare and goat cheese salad as starters. For entrees we chose the peppercorn steak and bouillabaisse. Peppercorn steak is quite tender and carries a punch. My bouillabaisse was on the dry side, with the broth sitting freshly poured over the abundant seafood, and I quite liked this version more any other ones I have had. Including all the meals I had in France. The menu is very French, in that you have what you would expect to get in France, and not some French-ish restaurant. Wine selection is quite lovely, you find your usual suspects there. Service was spot on. Even though by the time we were finishing up, there had been a steady wait line growing, they let us enjoy the meal without rushing us. I was a perfect stranger in a perfectly strange city, but I was with the same perfect you, who has been in my life for nearly two decades, and through those last sips of toasts we drank our evening away. The sun was still setting in this mile high city by the time we walked out, passing a crowd of people waiting outside for the next available seating. It was a perfect evening in LoDo, and I was with you.

This place is very nice. Right in the heart of downtown Denver, this little French bistro is classy and delicious. We had a group of 7 here for brunch and ended up being accommodated at the small bar near the entrance. The bar seating worked out really well because it was a small half circle, so everyone was able to talk easily without craning around each other. The bartender was stellar, very knowledgeable about the food and drink options and made some great recommendations. I had the Oeufs Bénédicte, which were done perfectly, and the duck confit was a tasty addition to the classic Benedict. The Croque Vendome was also a great choice for a heavier type of brunch meal. My bloody Mary was good, spiced to order, and their whiskey drinks were also done really well. Everyone loved their dishes, and it was great to have our larger group be able to sit a little outside of the normal dining room and feel like we were having a cozy meal. Nice for both a brunch date or special brunch with friends.

Our friend called and made a reservation at this restaurant. She said they did her a HUGE favor because they’re usually really busy. We had dinner at Bistro Vendome on April 9, 2016. When we arrived they had a long table, ready for the 10 of us. It was so beautiful! The doors were open and we could see the back patio, the fountain. So nice. I ordered the steak tartare and it was delicious. Maybe a little bit salty but it has anchovies so the saltiness’ to be expected. Some of the people in our group ordered cocktails and they loved them. I ordered the pommes frites(french fries) but I never got my order. I tried someone else’s fries and they were delicious. I just ordered them because I read all the great reviews about it here. Everybody enjoyed their food and their time there. It’s a very cute place to go for a special occasion. Our server was great, too. The only issue we had was that the next day one of the ladies in our group thought she may have left her credit card there and she called to ask to make sure she didn’t forget her card there and apparently whoever answered the phone was pretty rude. She was told they’d check and they’d call her back. She ended up finding her card somewhere else but she never got a phone call from them either.

Finally got to try Bistro Vendome for brunch. Came around noon on a Saturday and was surprised it wasn’t packed like many other places in the area. Cute place with a nice patio, very spacious, classy yet casual and laidback for a Larimer Square restaurant. Sat at the bar and ordered the croque vendome which is essentially a croque monsieur sandwich. The sandwich came with thin crispy french fries which is how I love my fries. The croque vendome was also delicious. Service was attentive and fast at the bar and the prices seemed affordable to me. Great place for a quiet weekend brunch instead of waiting at the more popular places.

My g/f and I celebrated our one-year anniversary at Bistro Vendome last weekend — it was our first visit. We had heard great things about it and were excited to try. The pro’s: the wine’s we had were wonderful; the Macaroni Gratin was fantastic, the free bread was good, and the sample they give you before the meal was delicious. The con’s: service was slow, mostly our server. Food came out in a timely manner from the time we ordered it but for being a small restaurant we rarely saw our server and what should have been a nice 1 hour dinner turned into almost 2 hours. The main courses were a letdown. My g/f had the Blanc De Poulet and I had the Steak Frites. Her chicken was a little dry and very average for the price she paid. She did enjoy the base/sauce. My steak quality was flank and I had a couple of pieces with cartilage that I had to eat around. The Bearnaise sauce was good and the frites were wonderful. Overall, we may try it again but since we were disappointed in our two main dishes, we probably will not. In addition, our server didn’t even ask how our food was as we were ready to tell her our honest thoughts. Our bus-lady did and she said she’d let the manager know. We never heard from the manager so I’m not sure what happened there. That was not a great way to end our anniversary dinner.

Wow! There is a new brunch menu since the last time I came here and it is vastly improved! The menu is far more interesting and indicative of the caliber of Jennifer’s other restaurants. I ordered what is essentially a croque madam(grilled ham and Gruyère topped with bechamel sauce and a fried egg). The fries that came with were the perfect fry although they were a bit over salted. Not that I didn’t not eat them because I love a good fry! The service was spot on especially given the fact that we were a large party.

What a charming little bistro tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Larimer square! We decided to come here for an early Valentine’s day dinner on a Thursday night. It’s a perfectly romantic setting for this occasion! The rustic décor, ambiance and stellar food are reminiscent of the time I spent in Paris! FOOD: we started with an amuse-bouche of butternut squash soup with sprinkles of Parmesan, which was just we needed to whet our appetite! We had the special appetizer of the night — lobster bisque served in a baked puff pastry cup. The crispy pastry complemented the creamy bisque and chunks of lobster extremely well! The side of frisee salad with citrus dressing was very refreshing! For entrees, we ordered the Idaho trout and duck confit, which was our waiter Matt’s favorite. The skin was so crispy and meat just fell off the bone — exactly how he described. It was certainly a winner in our opinion as well! The sauteed kale was extremely flavorful! I loved the trout! It was so tender and delicious! And the grape tomato olive oil was excellent for dipping the baguette in! For dessert, we settled on our water’s favorite again! The apple galette was a masterpiece in every sense from the baked apple pastry to the heavenly ice cream — everything just melts in your mouth! SERVICE: our waiter, Matt, was fantastic! He was very attentive and well-versed in the menu! We couldn’t be happier with the service! All in all, Bistro V is a wonderful spot for some old world Parisian dining experience! You will for sure be transported back to Europe with their authentic décor and food! I highly recommend it for special occasions or simply for desserts as all of them are $ 7!

My wife and I were just in Denver and we decided to visit Bistro Vendome for a nice dinner and to celebrate the 7 years we’ve shared since we started dating. This is actually our 3rd time going to Bistro Vendome even though we live in STL — clearly we have never been let down!!! Service is always spot on and all of the people we’ve interacted with have been friendly, helpful and very polite. I overheard our server mention to another patron she had been there for over 10 years and it doesn’t surprise me the least as she was really an expert in caring for the customer. As for the food, they serve a nice crusty bread which has great flavor and almost an everything bagel style seasoning. I’ve had the french onion soup and it’s been some of the best I have enjoyed! My wife has tried the salad verte and enjoyed it very much also. For the mains, I have only had the hangar steak frites(au poivre) every time — it’s so good so I just can’t convince myself to try anything else. The steak is always cooked perfectly and the sauce is expertly crafted — but one cannot forget about the frites. One cannot divulge in the frites without eating almost every last one. They are glazed in a sweet and sticky vinaigrette that makes them seriously the best fries I’ve ever had!!! Wife has had the scallops in the past as well as the pan roasted chicken most recently and given rave reviews for both. I tried her chicken and can also offer up that this is another solid option — but seriously, why are you still debating? Get some steak frites and be done with it!!! In terms of the ambiance, the service and the food, Bistro Vendome over delivers and we have had the best times at this restaurant! If you’ve never been or you’re looking for a romantic spot with really amazing food with very fair pricing, this is a really great option — go now and you can thank me later!!!

Cute place for a romantic dinner. It’s tucked into a little alley on Larimer with sparkly lights overhead. Fantastic service. Food was good though not amazing… great desserts! We had french onion soup(yum), the trout(so-so), steak frites(fries were fantastic!), crème brûlée(drool…) and fig tart(not bad). The ambiance and service makes this place.

Bistro Vendome is literally a hidden Denver gem. I did my undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado Denver and had often walked on Larimer to get to school. Never once had I noticed this place. It is tucked away in its own little private space on Larimer street. I have never been to France, but this place makes you feel as if you are there. There’s plenty of seatings inside and out. Luckily, it was a nice evening so my party decided to dine outside. It was a very beautiful view; nice, quiet, and private also away from the busy streets of Denver. As for the food it was quite delightful. My party went all out and did a three course dining experience. We started with escargot and mussels. The seafood was fresh and delicious. As for entrees, my brother-in-law ordered the hanger steak and frites, my sister had the baked salmon, and I ordered the braised pork ribs. The sauce on my pork ribs was a little overpowering and sour. However, the ribs were really good. I also enjoyed the accompanying salad; the apples was a nice sweet touch. I also had the privilege to try their entrees as well. The hanger steak was perfectly done; juicy and tender. The baked salmon appeared quite odd and did not look as good as it tasted. Wow, we were really surprised on that one. As for dessert, I ordered cherry macarons with cheesecake filling and my sister had the crème brûlée. Both were divine and very tasty. Our server seem a little off that night, but the food, the ambiance, and my company made this a really good experience.

We had a reservation for 6 people at 7pm. We didn’t leave until past 11. This place is that good. Their customer service is top notch. Everyone around us last night was just super accommodating. Including the valet that stayed past 10 to let us have some more fun at the bar. First of this area is so cute! Very French. It really has the Paris feel to it. I can’t stop admiring everything around me. Romantic. The menu was small but interesting. Three of us had the duck confit. The rest of the three had the Steak Frites. I had it with their Au Poivre(green peppercorn sauce). I think this is the best sauce with this dish. It was very flavorful and un-boring. The meat I requested to be prepared as the chef wishes which was medium rare. Perfectly tender and pink. My friend summed the way the chef prepares the dishes: He said the chef kept it very French. Not too salty or too bland. Portions not too big. Restrained I said. Perfect example was their escargot. Most of us wanted probably a pile of garlic on it. Instead we got served a very reasonable amount to let the escargot taste come out. No wonder he’s the chef and we’re not! The cute macaron for dessert was so adorable but packed with freshness and flavor. The very cool female bartender has been working there for six years. That says something about this place. They have been making customers happy for thirteen years according to Matt our awesome server. Valet available for $ 10 with validation. Just hand your ticket to your server for validation.

Welcome to Paris on the Platte! Ok, honestly– I think this is one of Denver’s better restaurants. First of all, you really do get the«I am in Paris» feel in this restaurant. Perhaps it is that it is tucked in a weird little passageway off of Larimer. Tres Parisienne! Perhaps it is the Edith Pilaf music on the speakers, maybe it is the rabbit or snails or Duck Confit, or even just sitting on the patio on a cool summer evening… This place just exudes a certain je né sais quoi. Most recently, our group of hooligans went for brunch. Our reservations were ready and waiting for a larger party of 8– no problem! Our server split the checks, no problem! I even ordered in French, feeling all sassy on a Sunday, and the waitress got it, no problem! I tried the Duck Confit Oeufs Benedictes, others tried the waffle, the omelet, and the burger. There was NOTONE complaint. That rarely happens with this group. What a pleasant pleasant morning! Thank you Bistro V!
