I have been coming here since it opened. They recently remodeled the restaurant some what. their service needs some serious work. My mom ordered shrimp tacos and she ordered no onions. She emphasized this part several times. What did the do, they put onions in the tacos. I ordered Asada and al pastor tacos. They hardly put any meat in the tacos. The pictures you see on Unilocal show a lot of meat. It’s not like that anymore. I will give this place another shot again and hopefully give a better review.

Went there on a sunday and was told there was only one cook, thats why my order was not taken. Why does a cook have to do with a drink order? Does he prepare the sodas too? Wtf? Anyways, both times I’ve been here, the customer service has been horrendous. The food is good but the service HORRIBLE. I MEANHORRIBLE. Dont come if you wanna get waited on fast. It will never happen.

I am impressed. I am from Michoacan the tacos were the closest I have taste to my hometown. The only bother is the corn tortillas needs an update. Everything to expect from a taco joint perspective. My variety 5 taco plate cost me $ 6.25 Need I say more?

Meh. We both got tortas, which were huge. But they were flat tasting and somewhat lifeless. It’s like they were missing something. I got the carnitas torta. Meh. I make better carnitas at home. My dining partner got a Torta Michoacan. The steak on it was fatty and not great. They didn’t have the advertised kid’s macaroni, so we had to buy an adult quesadilla for my 3-year-old. It came to $ 25 for the two adults and a child. We just got water to drink. Not exactly the cheapest. The salsa bar was big, but nothing tasted extraordinary. The chips were kind of stale? The service was lackluster. It reminded me of service in Mexico. But I’ve had way better tortas both here and Mexico. Meh all around. No me gusta. It’s worth noting that it seemed like nobody really spoke much English there. That’s not any reason that I’ve downgraded my rating. Usually, that means it’s gonna be good. I just give that as a thing to be aware of because the menu is in Spanish. You’ll have to order in Spanish. My dining partner tends to freak at this, so I take over. Which is fine, but I just make a note of it for the Unilocalers.

$ 1.25 tacos al pastor. And they’re great. Salsa bar was terrific as well. So many great taco joints near S Federal Blvd and this is one of them.

Saturday April 13th2013, 12NOON, 7 friends and I opt to have Lunch here for our Meetup. This time around I opt to have the Fish Taco and Strawberry Aqua Fresh less than $ 5.00 in total. I like the Fish Tacos, though I cant deny, my previous options of Tacos are way better. The service was slightly slow that afternoon. Furthermore, there are also other Patrons having their Lunch, so I can understand the sentiments if the kitchen was swamped. If I am not mistaken the first order to arrive at our table was about 12:27hrs ish. All in all my friends like what they order, with the portion they received that afternoon for Lunch. From what I could recall the items that my friends order were : * Several orders of Tacos * Michoacán Torta * Several order of Smothered Burritos, one of which just contains Beans for my friend who opt for the Vegetarian option. * A Supreme Nachos Piled MILEHIGH! aka HUGEPORTIONS * Enchiladas * Quesadillas I left this establishment about 13:10hrs coz I have a prior engagement later that afternoon. @84/2013

I enjoyed Carrie’s memorial taco tour so much that I took my sister-in-law and son here the next day for lunch. We had a total of 10 tacos, two aquas frescas, and a licuado.(I’d definitely choose the licuado. The aguas were not very flavorful to an American taste but were refreshing. I had the nearly sugarless lemonade.) Slow service may be a hallmark of this place, but we passed the time enjoyably with the free basket of homemade tortilla chips — not warm like they were for the taco tour, darn, but still fresh and tasty. The salsa bar is wonderful. The tacos were wonderful. We all were full and had drinks to take home for under $ 20. The menu has many other delicious-looking options, so we hope to be back soon.

Ironically, I only had the buffalo wings here. And if the wings were indicative of the tacos — the restaurant’s specialty — then this is a damn good taco joint. Tucked away among the many taco spots that line Federal, this one really seems to stand out in both food and service. Sure, the aesthetics leave much to be desired, but it’s exactly what you’d expect from an authentic, hole-in-the wall tacqueria — seriously good tacos and nothing else. Now back to the food. The salsas were a plenty and even got people who can handle the heat sweating. From what I heard around the table, the al pastor and carne asada were definitely worth returning for, which I will be doing in the near future… if I don’t get enticed by their delicious, perfectly sauced, perfectly crispy, and huge chicken wings first.

This was the second stop on our Taco Tour of 2÷16÷13. This place is located around the side of an unassuming strip mall off of Federal. After having eaten the tacos here, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an excellent street taco. The tacos here are on the smallish side, but they each come with a relatively hefty serving of meat. My Carnitas(my normal favorite) taco was moist, flavorful, piping hot, and delicious. The flavor was solid. Best of all, this taco, like most of the«standard» tacos here was a mere $ 0.99. So, here you are eating a wonderful authentic taco, at tacobell prices! My Chorizo taco was also quite good. It was a little well-done for my taste, with some interesting crunchy bits. I had to try a third taco(I couldn’t help myself). My taco al pastor was very nice. The salsa bar they had here had several selections of sauces ranging from mild to en fuego. I particularly enjoyed the green avocado based sauce. They were also quite generous at this establishment with bringing out baskets of tortilla chips for the table.

This was the second, and my favorite, stop on our taco tour. First of all, tacos are only 99 cents! And, they didn’t skimp on the meat. Pacing myself, I again only ordered one taco. This time I went with the asada. The beef was flavorful. And, I really like that you can help yourself to whatever fixings you would like from their sauce bar. I was a big fan of the avocado sauce. Some of their other sauces were a bit too spicy for this white girl, but I enjoyed them in small doses. The other added bonus is that they brought chips to our table. The chips were fantastic, again with your choice of sauces from the bar. In fact, I ate so many chips that I was too stuffed to order a taco from our last stop. You definitely get your bang for your buck here! And, the staff were very friendly as well.

Carnitas Estilo Michoacan was our 2nd stop on the illustrious Carrie C. memorial Taco Tour. Wow! The lovely food and cornucopial(yes, I have made up this word) complementary salsa bar were just so yummy! Fish tacos were what I ordered. Good beyond description. Next time I dine here I would like to try their Rellenos. Good service, beautiful food, low low prices, clean cheerful atmosphere. Many thanks to Doug Y. for finding this place and sharing it with all of us. I have taken the liberty of sharing Matt P.‘s photo of us enjoying our food this afternoon during the event. I have given him credit below the picture. Try this restaurant… it is a real treat!
