Came here on New Years Eve as it was within walking distance from where I was. Didn’t do any prior research as I assumed it would be okay. Walking into the place, it looked just like I thought it would. Since we didn’t have a reservation, they told us we could sit on the covered/heated patio. Before we could even sit down, the server was asking for our drink orders and seemed annoyed that we wanted to look at the menu. When we were finally able to take our coats off(which we didn’t need to, because«heated patio» was used very loosely), he came back and took our orders. He had to take our IDs elsewhere to look at, because the patio was too dark for him to see our birthdates. We had to ask for food menus, to which he seemed confused at the request. The menu in general was long and kind of all over the place. It had normal bar food, sandwiches, pizza, Mexican, steak and seafood. While diverse, it was a tad overwhelming. Decided just to get a Caesar salad and share the appetizer sampler plate. Salad was fine, but sampler plate was brought out and was just all fried foods. I pretty much anticipated that when we ordered it, however everything on the plate looked the same and it wasn’t possible to determine what was what without biting into it. Same with all the sauces that were brought to the table. Would have been nice to have gotten some kind of description. Finally got our check and was ready to leave. Overall, I was not impressed and wouldn’t go back. Service was below average and food was mediocre.

I came here with small group of friends to sit near the piano. The waitress in the area pushed us to sit at another table instead of the one we had originally sat which I thought was odd. The waitress made a disgruntled face at my friend when she asked for a water in addition to the regular drink that was ordered. The whole thing made me feel unwelcomed there so I wouldn’t return unless a friend really wanted to go there.

Love this place. Best happy hour deal. Huge menu and amazing Greek food. We each got 2 glasses of wine and a souvlaki plate. The piano dude was also GREAT. Will definitely come back next time I’m in Denver!

Really bad service and unimpressive food and drinks. The only good or unique thing about this place is the piano.

We had to stay in town an extra day due to a snow storm on the mountains. We called tons of places looking for a place open on Christmas day that wasn’t a fancy buffet. We found this bar. The food was good. We both had hamburgers, mine was a veggie burger. The beer selection is small. No draft beer in a state were draft beer is so popular. The waiter was extremely good and very patient with me while I found what to drink. After a long day and my crankiness she was very patient.

You can’t go wrong with this place. A cap hill staple. The menu is extensive, they have a late night food menu and service is usually great. If you go on the weekend the piano bar is upbeat and young. During the week however if you want to hear Disney tunes and songs from the 30s this is defiantly the place for u

My boyfriend and I came in for a drink on the walk home from a night exploring downtown. There isn’t much open on a weeknight on that stretch and we were both hungry and thirsty for another drink. The ambiance: Super fun, laid back environment. The wood features and seasonal holiday decorations made the place seem super cozy and homey. The piano bar in the corner was a super fun touch, and you can tell that people really get into the sing-a-longs which makes it even more fun! The crowd: Much more grown up than most bars in cap hill. I would say that most patrons of the bar were in their 30s, super chill, and ready to have a good time. Definitely a nice change not feeling like the oldest person in the bar in my neighborhood! The food: By the time we arrived, they were only serving off the late-night menu. Like most bars with a late menu, the items all appeared to be greasy drunk food. Absolutely delicious if you’re at the end of a long night, but you’d be disappointed if you arrived sober and hungry(unless you’re down for heavy bar food, in which case it’s fantastic!) The service: We were escorted to the bar area as soon as we walked in, then greeted by a server to take our drinks very promptly. Our food and drinks arrived on time, yet once the food was sat down in front of us, we never saw our server again. After waiting one hour for our check(not kidding, we didn’t see our server for ONEHOUR), we attempted to flag him down several times, unsuccessfully. My boyfriend eventually got up and physically tapped the server on the shoulder, five minutes after which he slapped the bill on our table and rushed away again seemingly very annoyed. Bottom line: I will probably come back because it’s just down the street from my apartment, and I would’ve given four stars if not for the service. I’ll give them another chance… everyone has their bad days.

Great place. If you don’t mind cigarette smoke — this has the best patio vibe — takes you back to the old times. Great happy hour. NEVER had bad service.

Fantastic! Had an old — fashioned type of meal of sirloin steak, french fries, salad, vanilla ice cream for dessert, and may I mention several dee — licious martinis; huge portions of everything. Cozy and historic ambiance, great service, and many were having a grand old time at the piano bar(the place is big, so if you don’t care for the music, you can be seated far away from it). What’s not to love???

I’m scoring these peeps a 2.5 because half the time they’re great. The other half they suck. The manager was very accommodating when we asked to move inside due to the cigarette smoke. The waitress however, seemed high af, but was still very nice. This time, they were very rude. Not friendly, seemed«annoyed» at us, and took 45min for us to get our food.

This is supposed to be a landmark and awesome but I was not overly impressed. Just felt old in like a needs to be updated way and less a ‘oooo… This is cool and I feel transported back’. Food was alright and during happy hour our server struggled to keep up.

There’s something off about this place, can’t really put my finger in it, but Charlie Brown’s has an odd vibe. It’s not a dive bar, but it may share a few characteristics with them. But why«odd» you say? Let’s start with the staff, there doesn’t seem to be enuf of them at any given time, like when you want to order a drink or some food. This is probably more of a management issue, but it takes its toll on the employees and in turn, the customers. The drinks were decent, but nothing to run home and tell momma about. Can’t vouch for the food, this was a drinking only night, altho the food we did see making its way to the tables looked pretty good. Presentation counts. There is also a separate piano lounge area in one corner of the establishment, the singer was good, belting out the classic piano bar mulch, but still, something was a bit off. Before I can recommend this bar, I need to go back a few more times, there’s something in the energy of the place that put me off from the beginning, but quite possibly another visit might create a much better experience.

Drinks and food here are great. The BIG issue I have is with the management not having enough waitstaff on each shift. I especially love going here on weekend evenings for the live piano sing-alongs, but when just one waitress is working her butt off to try to serve the entire half of the restaurant, I find myself sitting and waiting for a drink more than I find myself with a drink. I wish management would get it together and staff the place appropriately. The wait staff is great when they’re finally able to get to you, but because of the slow service I find myself not wanting to come here as often as I would if the service was quick.

As others have said… decent food but crappy service. Don’t know how many times we had to flag our waitress down. Unless you are here for piano music… stay away… seriously!

I’ve been here before and absolutely loved it. They give $ 30 of free drinks if it’s your birthday, which is great. We went in for a birthday, a party of about 15, and had probably the worst service I have ever had. Our waitress was running around the whole night. We got seated at a table and she came around getting drink orders, but cut off half the people before she even got their order. She returned about 10 minutes later to ask the orders again. She was racing around the whole place and almost ran me over when I was coming back to the table from the restroom. A few minutes later, we saw that she was at the piano singing a song instead of getting our orders from the bar and we put a food order in with a different waitress while ours was singing. We had to constantly flag her down and she never came to check on us until we grabbed her attention. She acted like it was the busiest night at the restaurant while we were trying to get here attention and order and once she left casually danced and chatted with other staff very leisurely, losing all sense of urgency she seemed to have at our table. About half of the drinks we ordered were either incorrect or watered down, and they came out not being cheap. Shots were at least $ 7 because they have to use the top shelf liquors. Come the end of the night, we get our bills, which we had to wait at least 15 minutes for. They were all added wrong, missing items, or inconsistent with other bills at the table. We asked her to get the manager, who she said had to go to the patio for a problem. More than ten minutes later we had to ask to get the manager again and after the manager came over, we realized that he had walked by our table at least 5 times in the span that we had been waiting for him. While this was all going on, the waitress was badmouthing us to the table next to us, and anybody that would listen to her. Needless to say, we were very disappointed with her service and will probably never go back there.

What a surprise this place is. We happened upon it last night and it has to be one of the best places in inner Denver. Plenty of parking but the inside goes back to the 19 Century and so the atmosphere is great. They have an everything pizza for $ 7.75 that is to die for and many other pizza choices as well. The pizza is great for one person or two if you are a small eater like Jim and I. Plenty of sauce on the pizza. We started out sitting outside on the patio but no one knew we were there since it is separate from the covered patio. I would not advice the covered portion of the patio if you are a non smoker. When the manager discovered we were moving because no one saw that we were seated away from the covered seating area he gave us free drinks, including a gin martini made with Beefeater Gin, a much higher quality gin than a standard well gin. The service was excellent – very attentive and nice – plus an added bonus in the bar is a piano player, who plays most of the selections that are everyone’s favorites from the 40’s and 50’s. This is a quality place – a hidden gem in Denver’s happening neighborhood.

Historical, Nice old time piano bar with great variety of food. Wonderful local hangout with people from all over the place. The prime rib was excellent with garlic smashed and veggies. Will definitely be back for more.

I’ve always wanted to like this place but I just can’t. First of all, the service is so awful. Without fail, I’m flagging someone down to bring me a drink and then waiting for a half hour to get it. The last time I was there, my waitress was smoking on the covered patio(about 3 feet away from me) over and over for 20 minutes at a time while I tried to get a drink or some food or some silver wear. I try to always tip well because I know its not easy to be a waiter/waitress but I have to be honest that I left her almost nothing. We asked her for water at one point and she brought us more mixed drinks… I guess we’ll pay for those… thanks. The food is just not good. Do NOT get the nachos thinking they will live up to your expectations. I think they microwave the cheese on? Not sure, but not worth it. Also do NOT get the sliders. Order food at your own risk, really. There’s a deal on your birthday: I think its a $ 30.00 bar tab for free. Cool concept, but I would suggest ordering beer maybe. Oh, they also don’t have any on tap so bottle it is.(Don’t even get me started on that.) They don’t put alcohol in the birthday lady’s(or gentleman’s drinks). Seriously, they severely water down the free drinks. I got tipsy on a couple regular drinks while my friend who was«drinking for free,» felt nothing(and this has happened a few times over the years). We’re such suckers for continuously trying. Trust me, I’ve tried so many times with a wide open mind. There are just so many better options on Cap Hill.
