Wow! So warm and friendly, these guys run a spectacular local business with local meats. They are not in our neck of the woods, but worth the drive, and the frozen packaging means the product not only makes it to my house but can be stored with minimal fear of freezer burn.

A native New Yorker I often visit Aurora. I’ve found that most of your supermarket’s meat departments are sadly lacking as the taste is so bland. So I went to Unilocal and found positive reviews on Good Eatin Premium Meats. I decided to take a drive to check it out for myself. I was warmly greeted by Kwame and his wife. As we started to talk I learned that long ago Kwame grew up in the Bronx in NYC not too far from where I was raised. We both attended the same High School although almost two decades apart. Kwame enlisted in the Air Force before starting his own family butcher shop in Aurora. I tried their Porterhouse Steak, huge Tiger Shrimp and their angus & chuck chop meat. Folks their meat is tender, juicy and delicious. You can’t find a better meat than the thick, juicy, tasty Porterhouse steak we just enjoyed. It was so tender that you could literally cut it with a fork. I am happy to attest that Good Eatin Meats rate right up there with the best butcher shops in NYC. You will not regret taking a drive to meet Kwame and his family, as once you do, you’ll keep coming back for more. 5 Stars isn’t a high enough rating for this diamond of an oasis right in the middle of Aurora. Enjoy!

I recently moved to the neighborhood, and I decided to stop in to Good Eatin’ to pick up some steaks to celebrate the new house and an anniversary. Kwame and Tim were excellent! They were extremely friendly and I spent several minutes just talking to them about the business and the neighborhood. Plus, Kwame definitely has my taste when it comes to steak: ribeye. The shop was surprisingly clean. It is right next to a 7-Eleven, so I expected much worse. Since I was the only one in the store at the time, Kwame took the time to answer all of my questions about the available cuts of meat, and recommended preparation and thawing methods for the steaks that I bought. The ribeye aged 21 days was amazing. It was perfectly marbled, tender, and I could really taste the difference in the aged meat. Kwame warned me that, especially with aged meats that are vacuum sealed, there often is a pungent odor when opening them due to the packaging and sometimes people confuse that smell for spoiled meat. I didn’t notice an overpowering smell, but I was glad he warned me anyway. I also got a couple of sirloins. Again, excellent tenderness and flavor. Sirloin is generally not my favorite because of the lack of fat, though. I will definitely return to Good Eatin’. The meats were priced fairly(granted, probably more expensive than Wal-Mart, but not much more). At some point in the future, I will be buying a smoker, and I have no doubt Kwame and Tim will be able to supply a beautiful brisket, pork butt, or rack of ribs to barbeque.

I picked some steaks and sausages after using a living social coupon. One word to describe the steaks… terrible. The sell them frozen. Get home and let it thaw for a day or two, the meat starts turning grey and brown. I would imagine the meat being good for at least 2 days. I’ve gotten better steaks at King Soopers and Safeway. Plus the staff was very rude.

I stopped into Good Eatin Premium Meats to pick up fresh ground beef for a meatloaf. I was greeted by one of the owners and immediately helped. He suggested a natural ground chuck from his ground selection which included bison, grass fed, lamb, etc. The other owner was on the phone working with a customer for a package deal. The husband and I do not eat tons of meat so this is not an option for us but if you do have a family, you should check their package prices. Another customer was checking out the Blue bell ice cream selection for a special treat. And they sell Hog Heaven barbecue sauce. The store is extra clean and the meat is as fresh as it gets. Last of all, my meatloaf was delicious. I will be going back to try more cuts from Good Eatin’.

I picked up several steaks there of different types. I am always cautious when picking up froozen prepacked meats. But these were some of the best I have ever had. They were as good, if not better than the cuts I would pick up at the large grocery stores. And, at a much better price! I was very pleased with the meats and the service and will be going back many times more!

I have had 2 separate dealings with Good Eatin and must say, both have been disappointing. I discovered Good Eatin through a Livingsocial deal and tried to redeem the first time on Thursday July 7(3 days after July 4th). Thank goodness I called before hand because I was very briskly told that the voucher would not be honored since they are not valid on holidays and they consider a «holiday» to be a week before and a week after that date. I thought that to be extremely excessive. On my second attempt I called ahead to make sure there was not yet another reason my business would not be welcome and was informed that their inventory was low and it would be better to come in the following week. When I raised a concern I was rudely interrupted, the concern was not addressed and I was simply asked«So, are you coming in next week?» I just hope their product is better than their customer service.
