I think I’m done with Heidi’s. At least this location. Went in today and ordered the French Dip for the first time. Yuck. Au Jus was gross, and instead of a baguette I got some nasty white roll covered in poppy seeds. I get that you guys were closing early, but maybe you could’ve asked if I wanted that nasty bread?

I’m in shock this place has 2 starts. The sandwiches are delicious! Fresh baked bread everyday. I can’t get enough of the crabcake sandwich! You can get halves of any sandwich which is nice because they are so good you’ll eat a whole one and then won’t be able to move! Friday’s they have free cookies, a recipe from one of the staff’s grandma! Sure they are busy and not the most friendly, but they sure know how to make a sandwich and no one has ever been rude to me! As an office, we will continue eating at Heidis! Yum!

Wish I could pick zero stars. Worst customer service ever. Everyone that works here is so so rude. Like soup nazi rude. With all the other sandwich places right around here, Heidi’s should be your last choice.

I work right by this location, so I go there because the food is not bad, and often I’m with others that want to go there. The problem with this place is the service. Without exception, every employee there is absolutely rotten. Every. Single. Person. Some less rotten than others, but all rotten nonetheless. In Denver, I have never experienced an equally bad staff. They are truly horrible, unhappy people. I have never been anything but entirely polite, even in the face of their rudeness, but it makes no difference. It must just be a terrible place to work. Ordinarily I would assume management is to blame. But the staff there is retained pretty well. I can’t figure it out. While I experience a generally bad attitude from everyone there, I have seen them be specifically, absurdly rude to others. One example comes to mind where a woman ordered a sandwich on a French roll, and asked the employee to please cut the middle portion out of the bread. Essentially, make 3 cuts, instead of two. A totally reasonable request, and one I imagine they get a lot of. Well, this guy flatly, rudely, told the poor woman«no, I can’t do that.» I was standing right next to her and couldn’t believe my ears. I looked at her, and she was literally speechless. I mean, this is a sandwich shop. You make sandwiches. Anyway. Just had to put this out there after just getting a breakfast burrito there. I walk up to the counter and look at the two employees chatting with each other. Finally, the large tattooed Hispanic woman gives me a bad look, and asks for my order. I order a breakfast burrito. Its 10am and they serve them until 10:30. She says nothing, looks directly at her watch as if its too late to be ordering one, then turns away. Just… wow. Nowhere else downtown has service even approaching the level of rudeness you’ll find at this Heidi’s.

Yum! Maybe I was just really hungry, but I ordered the breakfast sandwich, minus the wich part-so it was really just eggs, sausage, and some cheese, but dang it was good. I inhaled it in a way that was probably gross to look at, but I did it. The staff is really nice, and the service it’s pretty quick. I’ll be back!

I have to disagree with the previous reviews. I went with 4 other friends for the first time and all 5 of us loved it. The price was great and the sandwiches were big.

I wish that I had the option of giving zero stars. Staff is rude and acts as though you are bothering them. I am glad to see that I am not the only one that has experienced the bad service. If I was drunk the food might pass for mediocre. «Might» being the operative word in the previous sentence. It is funny how they call themselves«Brooklyn Deli» because the quality of food is so bad that it is an insult to call this a «Brooklyn Deli.» This place sucks! That is my ten cents any way.

Terrible coffee and breakfast sandwich. Please do yourself a favor and walk 1 block down to 16th street, and there are plenty of chioces of deli and coffee shops that offer better quality of food.

I have been to this location several times now and I can safely say that there is nothing good about it. The food is bad(wilted lettuce, brown avocado, inconsistent flavor), and the employees are very rude and unwelcoming. I have also been overcharged 2 out of my last 3 visits. Save yourself the irritation and go to another deli downtown… every single one is better than this location of Heidi’s.

Best sandwiches downtown and great service. The Cajun turkey sandwich is the best turkey sandwich I have ever had.

The bread that I just had was so good all I can think about is how I want more! But then I ate the fresh from the oven gooey cookie and I momentarily forgot about the bread. Why didn’t I eat here yesterday? And why can’t I find bread like I this at home in YYC. Questions for the universe I guess…

They have a sign posted on the counter that says something along the lines of: «We will gladly wait for you to finish your cell phone conversation before we help you.» Yes, I love it. People say the staff is rude, but if you’re nice to them, they will be nice to you. Right now, I’m in a rut because for lunch at this place, I always order the Transplanted New Yorker on pumpernickel. It has a whole bunch of Italian meats, provolone cheese, avocado, some sort of Cajun sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion. It is the ONLY sandwich you need to order here because it is so delicious, and it is what I have been ordering ever since I discovered Heidi’s years ago. About 50% of the time, they forget to give me my pickle, which makes me a little upset. But I keep coming back. No biggie. The breakfast burritos are gargantuan and will fill you up through lunch. I like the big olé pieces of sausage in there, and they are served until 10:30AM. You can also get ham or bacon, but trust me… get the sausage. Meat, potatoes, cheese, eggs, and green chile. Yum. Big portions, decent downtown prices. I love Heidi’s.

It’s 2014 and Heidi’s doesn’t offer a paleo brekky sammy option. So I decided to create my own; minus the bread +_avocado. When I checked out I was charged the full price of a breakfast sandwich with an additional .75 for avocado. I expected the up charge but when I asked for $ 1 deduction for the cost of the croissant I was rudely told that wasn’t possible. I suggested she ring me up for the cost of the individual sides: two eggs, meat & avocado. I was told they didn’t have the keys for that. Yet, I just saw her ring a key for avocado $.75 and on a previous occasion I was charged for a side of two eggs and sausage. I know it’s possible which makes me wonder, why the attitude?

Never going back here. Service alternated between rude, indifferent and hostile. They don’t listen to what you order and don’t care. Maybe this was«Brooklyn style» 30 years ago but I have news for you guys: Brooklyn is hip and friendly. You have competitors downtown who get it and I will be patronizing them from now on.

Sad to say it was a bummer day. What used to be the size of a whole Sammie has been cut in half. My bag which is usually hand crampingly heavy was super light. The bread was all presliced and stored on containers which I’ve not seen done before. The service was friendly and the taste was good. Love that Cajun sauce that sets my mouth on fire, makes me tear up and fall in love all at the same time. Not sure how I feel about parting with $ 9 on a smaller portion. For my hard earned money– I’ll go to the 17th and Lawrence location– the service isn’t as awesome, but I do feel like I’m getting my money’s worth there. Sorry 55517th– we’ve got to break up.

The staff was helpful and pleasant as I ordered food. I took the food to a meeting, left, and then got a text from my angry boss: there were no utensils included so no one could eat the salads. Fail.

I’ve worked in the building that houses Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli for three years now, and needless to say, because of its convenience, I’m a fairly frequent customer. I love their food. The sandwiches are always fresh and tasty, with your choice of breads. The only item I’ve encountered that I feel was sub-par is their chicken salad. A previous reviewer mentioned not being a fan, and I concur. While I love dark meat chicken on the bone, fresh from the fryer or oven, it’s my assertion that chicken salad should contain only white meat. Theirs contains shredded dark meat, and the flavor is somewhat questionable(I tried it several times). My favorites are the meatball sub and the chicken parm sub; which I get on either the French or Italian roll. Can’t be beat. Regarding the reviews of customer service at Heidi’s. Since I’ve been a customer for several years, I’ve seen employee turnover. However, the manager has remained, and is awesome. He once forgot something on my sandwich and the next day gave me a free stamp on my card. All the employees are warm and efficient, except one. I would estimate this employee has been at Heidi’s for roughly a year, and he is indeed grumpy. My best comparison would be to the Soup Nazi. No matter how many people are(or are not) in line, even if the next customer is standing RIGHTINFRONTOFHIM, he will scream, «NEXT!!!» without even looking up. I often feel compelled to whisper back… «hey, I’m right in front of you.» It’s odd behavior, to be sure, but we can’t all have jobs working with puppies, kittens, rainbows and unicorns, right? I just wish someone could give him a hug and tell him to chill the F out.

I feel this is a shame because I love Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli just not this one. My experience here over two years has not been good. When I did go I would usually order the Cajon turkey with avocado on sour dough, this can be a very tasty sandwich! I feel they have a real attitude and look bothered all the time. Now that is just some of them, there are some really nice employees there but I never seem to get them, I just get to hear the lady in front of me get the nice one. There have been a couple of times where I am in line and am excited to see one of the nice employees working, If I am up next and it is one of the grumpy ones I will pretend I don’t’ know what I want and let the person behind me go next! I will do this till I get the nice one. Yes it makes the big of a difference, plus my sandwich is not just tossed together it actually is on the bread when I am lucky enough to get the guy who knows what he is doing. Besides the grumpy people that work there I was really turned off at a time when I was pretty much a regular off and on throughout that year and had only discovered they had a punch card by seeing the man in front of me pull out his… I had asked about it when I paid for my sandwich and she said«Oh yes you just never asked!» I did not go back for awhile after that. One day I thought ok it has been awhile and they have probably gotten better. So I tried it again, same old attitude, but I was over it just excited to get my usual order. (You know that feeling when you have been craving something for most of the day and are so excited when you get it because you know it is going to be a party in your mouth just from remembering the last time you had it and it has been so long?) Yeah… except this was a surprised mouth full of slimy turkey and brown avocado! I was so done and just wanted to get out of there. I did not even bother to complain, just left it out on my table for them and others to see and walked out, have not been there since! I do hope you try other locations because they can be very good, this one I just don’t know how they have gotten so bad. It really is a shame for the name of the deli.

Don’t eat at this craphole unless you have to. Eat at Salvaggio’s across the street, the food is 10x better and the service is always top-notch. I’ve eaten here several times over the last couple of years and the food has been mediocre and the service terrible, but today was the worst. I waited in line for 5 minutes before finally reaching the counter. I don’t know if they were having a bad day or what, but there were five or six people behind the counter and they overlooked me TWICE, calling on two people standing immediately behind me. It was preposterous. I must have shrunk a few inches because I’m normally 6’2″ and hard to miss. I immediately waved at them and asked if they could help me. One of them looked over at me and patronizingly asked me if I could take a few steps to my LEFT and they could help me over THERE. I finally made my order and got my sandwich. With the wrong side. With the wrong cheese. With the weakest turkey ever. The entire ambience behind the counter reeks of discontentment and I’m glad the employees stay behind there because they don’t seem to be like anyone I’d want to have lunch with. I can say with assurance that the only reason this place survives is because people who work in the building eat there all the time for the convenience. Like I said, don’t eat at this craphole unless you have to.

I wouldn’t have come here solely because of the reviews.(total Unilocal fan!) However, my co-worker insisted. So hey, I figure I’d give it a shot. I got a sandwich… transplanted new yorker? I can’t remember but it was awesome. Had a spicy sauce as well as meat and avocado. Yum. Plus it was huge. I saved half for later… hours later, and the bread was not soggy. Happy about that. It could just be luck though. The lady did take FOREVER to make the damn thing. My friend was half done with his meal by the time I got mine. They also annoy the HELL out of you if you don’t know what you want right away. This is actually typical downtown business district and I hate it. I usually look up menus online before hand because I hate that anxiety. You say«oh, I’m sorry, I’m not ready yet» but then they just STARE at you and you find yourself not even comprehending the menu because you are so uncomfortable. I worked at Blimpie as a kid, so I know how it works on the other end too. You gotta be ready for when the customer is. Yeah…I HATE that. Usually why I come after the lunch rush. Cost wise I would say its typical lunch prices. $ 10 sandwich across the board.(I find this annoying and really should start bringing my lunch.) Also you have to pay extra if you want to «upgrade» your chips. This is stupid because for $ 10+ most places let you pick the good stuff. Also Drink not included.
