I give the improvisers 5 stars. Talented, entertaining and comical improvisers. However, I give Impulse Theater(from a business aspect) two stars because — When booking my ticket, I was told the show was adult 21+. Someone brought an entire daycare to the show. The MC shot down hilarious suggestions and the improvisers censored themselves due to the little bastards in attendance. THAT… IS…WRONG. Children have no business attending these shows. Grow a spine and keep it adult. Secondly, I tried ordering a Cabernet. They don’t have a Cabernet. Ok, I’ll take a Bud Light, please. No Bud Light because it’s all brewed locally. The server recommended another beer that he said was similar. Disgusting, bitter tasting piss. I told him there was no worries. He did go out of his way to run upstairs to get me a Cabernet, but by the time it came back to me the show was over. What do I expect? Seems to be a theme in sub-par, second-rate, mediocre, redneck-backwards Denver.

Only downside was not every patron had a table, which was disappointing for our party of 2 expecting to have a light dinner during the show but seated in a row of chairs instead. Boyfriend and I had a great time here, comedy was entertaining, the waiters and staff were helpful and very sweet, and the drink selection was okay. This place was cramped for space, as are most improvs, but once the show started I didn’t mind. Just wish we had a table to eat on! Will definitely come back on a rainy day.

Do you remember«Who’s line is it anyway» Did you like that show? If you said yes to the two questions above, you need to go to the Impulse theater. If you answered No to the first, you still should go check it out. If you answer No to the 2nd, you may want to find another way to spend your evening, as that is what they do here. We have been 3 times now, and have had a blast each and every time. Are they TV worthy? No probably not. There is a reason they are in a basement in Denver, but they are better than you and I, and they make me laugh every time. Outside of a couple morons in the audience, and some pretty in inattentive members of their wait staff, it has been nothing but smiles for us. Check it out, see if it your thing too.

PG-13 rated«calm-edy». I think 13 year-olds and church ladies might think this show was funny, but probably not even them on this particular night. I sat in the basement of Wynkoop brewery, at 9:45pm, drinking my «1 drink minimum» drink, and wondered, Why the hell does this show have to be a clean show? They advertise the show as «all ages», which is a mistake because the show suffers for it. It’s too clean and PG-13. I think this show can probably be funny at times, but tonight it was awkward, embarrassing, and definitely not funny or entertaining. A waste of 90 minutes for me, and a disappointing birthday experience too.

The staff was all super nice. 9 of us gals went there to celebrate our friends bachelorette party and had a blast! We ran late and called and Sarah who answered was very helpful with directions and they held our seats. All of us were talking about how funny it was the whole weekend. Definitely a great time for any occasion.

I went last week. We had a Living Social voucher so it was half priced($ 18 for two people with a one drink minimum.). The show was ultra funny. The bathrooms were ultra gross, like really«ewwww.» I will go again, but will use the restroom elsewhere first…

I attended a show last night as part of a Valentine’s Day package. If this is the normal show, it is definitely not Improv; a bit more like sketch comedy. While some scenes seemed to have ad-libbed lines, they were all fairly structured. They got a few laughs out of me but I don’t think I would spend more than $ 10 going back. My friend called me a comedy snob, though… Nothing special.

My friends and I had such a good time at the show a few weeks ago. Weekend tickets are only $ 18 with a 1 drink min. purchase which is never a problem. The 4 guys and 1 gal running the show were very funny and we’re still quoting them. Great for a big or small group of friends wanting a night out. They have a full bar and serve Wynkoop beers.

Excellent little troupe. Came for the early show on a Friday. Only about 25 customers in the crowd made for a very intimate experience. It was fun and witty. The crowd fueled this evening nicely with great completely off the wall suggestions and the players were on top of it! Look forward to going again next time I am in town!

Was it just an off night tonight? Did we as an audience fail the performers with lame input? Something must have been amiss considering the good reviews that came before me. Maybe our expectations were too high. Last weekend we nearly wet our pants at the Comedy Cellar. We missed that naughty raunchiness at the Impulse. It was like a Disney movie where adult jokes only come in the form of innuendo or double entendre. I’m not asking for Andrew Dice Clay but I’m not looking for golly gee-whiz either. Or maybe the other reviewers are being way too generous. Are we so afraid of being critical? Maybe we can’t resist giving everyone a ribbon so no one gets their feelings hurt. Are we giving stars for talent and entertainment or for effort? I saw some ribbon-worthy moments from Adrian Holguin but the rest of the cast goes home empty handed tonight. Whatever the reason, we were not entertained. The comedy was off the mark and borderline embarrassing to witness. The venue has potential, its an intimate space in a great location(a few blocks from home). The service was worse than the show. We were there for two hours. It took one hour for a beer and a glass of wine to show up and then another hour to get the check. Perhaps the delay in getting the check was intentional to keep everyone from walking out. We wondered if the servers were also waiting tables upstairs and just checked in on the Impulse patrons on their way to or from the downstairs Wynkoop bathrooms.

I hadn’t been to an improv show for a long time but I used to enjoy going often when I lived in NY. I was not sure what to expect but I’m glad we went. For $ 18 dollars a person and a minimum drink equivalent to a $ 4 Wynkoop beer, it is a great offer and a fun alternative for a Thurs evening. Out of the four actors three were brilliant and overall a great evening. It was just my husband and I and can imagine going in a larger group would be quite fun. They also do 1 day workshops which we are thinking about trying them out. After the show one more beer at Wynkoop is a great way to end the evening

I really enjoy good improv comedy, and the Impulse Theater delivers every time. I like that they seem to have a little more freedom to be slightly risqué when compared to a place like Mad Cap. There are so many things that try to bill themselves as family friendly… Some of us want something a bit more adult. The actors/comics here are all quite good at what they do. The one negative has nothing to do with the show itself, but the prices. $ 18 a ticket for less than 90 minutes of entertainment is a bit steep… Two can almost go to a movie for one ticket here. Also, there is a one drink minimum, so be prepared to spend quite a lot here. I also don’t understand why they only serve a couple Wynkoop beers when they are literally in the basement of the Wynkoop. You’d think they could work out some sort of arrangement… but alas. I do like this place, and I like to go as often as I can afford it. I will be back.

What a blast! This was the first time I’d ever been to an improv theatre, and I’m sure I’ll be back. I think I’m pretty quick witted but I was amazed at how quickly these folks have to think on their toes. Ridiculously funny!!! I guess Impulse used to have a two drink minimum, but now it’s only a one drink minimum.

ok so, its a little hidden — but it happens to be underneath the wynkoop brewing company. The easiest way in? — go into the wynkoop and just go downstairs. Impulse theater is the place to go for improv comedy in denver. ok — I’ve been to one other place so far, but this spot gets top marks. Why? 1. It’s true improv — completely created based on audience suggestions 2.they have a full bar — and reasonably priced adult beverages(see comedy works, not so much) and ONLY a 1 drink minimum 3.they have discount ticket nights — we went and it was«senior night», we brought in pics from senior year in highschool and received $ 8 off per ticket(normally $ 18) — other popular nights, chip night — bring a bag of chips for the cast and presto, $ 8 off. upcoming shows — halloween costume nights(all this upcoming weekend). 4. top notch comedy talent — yes, I’m a connoisseur of comedy talent They have a very helpful online show calendar which tells you about events and discount nights. On a side note — they have improv comedy classes and can hire them to do elaborate practical jokes. How fantastic is that? Go see a show — it’s hilarious. It only loses one star for being a less than stellar seating arrangement, but to be fair they are in a basement. book early during the week, they reserve seats for folks based on when you book. Just don’t show up late or they’ll seat you in the back.

I knew this place existed, but i never took the effort to find out about it. We chose Pearl Street Grill for one of our 5280 choices and their extras was free tickets to the show. Sweet! Since face value is $ 18 a piece. We arrived pretty close to curtain time. We were seated on the side. We could still see most of the stage though. Then the real fun started! It was amazingly funny! I was laughing out loud from start to finish. And was thinking — damn they are so quick on their feet, there is no way i could even dream of doing that! It is down stairs at Wynkoop Brewery. There are only 2 waitstaff — but they get to you pretty quick. The only complain i have is the $ 18 a person. For hubby and i with 2 drinks that would be a $ 50 night. Not super expensive, but not something i would do very often. I did sign up for the email list, so if i get some discount tickets there i’m all over it!!! Another cool thing — your tickets gets you a free drink a Wazzee Supper Club and a couple others. So that is a nice bonus as well! Definitely a must do at least once in your tenure in Denver, so yes, support the arts and get your laugh on! «I killed the monkey» — one of the skits where they ahve to re-do the previous line. This was the re-do and was just sooo funny I think it will become part of my every day quips!
