Tried to go today and they are closed. Note on the door saying their lease is up and they are shutting down

Meh. Jambalaya was mediocre at best. Sauce looks to have been thickened with corn starch instead of starting with a good roux. For the price I expected something a lot more favorable. My son even agreed. We decided that we would try the butterscotch dessert, I wish we didn’t. The cake portion was old and rubbery and the ice cream was freezer burnt. I will not be returning.

Amazing all around! Had an amazing meal and everyone enjoyed. Great atmosphere and good mix of music. Service was great and food was to die for! Bottomless Mimosas on the weekends and happy hour almost every day til 6pm. Jimmy the owner is very personable and great! All fresh ingredients and homemade everything.

Interesting ambience and a nice variety of food choices. The hangover burger was one of the best things I’ve eaten recently! Most(or all?) of their things are made in house i believe, right down to the ketchup. Either way the service was nice and everything we had was tasty so we’ll be making another stop at Jimmy’s in the future!

Gross… never…ever…again…the food had plenty of taste… the wrong taste… my stomach is still twisting and turning… I had the steak wrap… sounded good, looked good, tasted horrendous… the a1 vinaigrette tasted like sour extra vinagerey almost bbq sauce in the bad way… the meat was fat chunks… boyfriend got some sort of chicken and rice goat cheese pepper combo thing… equally as bad…$ 60 in the garbage… seriously threw it in the garbage… I don’t recommend it at all

Pros: The gyro was well seasoned and tender. The wait staff was friendly and warm. Unfortunately, the positives end there. Cons: I could not get a sense for what Jimmy’s was trying to be. The décor and the menu offering did not seem to match up. It felt like a sports bar with the abundance of TVs but jazz music dominated the restaurant. The menu offered international flavors such as the aforementioned gyro and tandoori. I opted for the gyro and a side of sweet potato puffs. Both of which were good but I would not recommend the sweet potato puffs. The return value of the five puffs I received does not warrant the extra $ 2. The burger my fiancée ordered was unfortunately forgettable. The burger toppings was a slight reprieve from an otherwise bland burger. Jimmy’s needs to simply pick something they’re fantastic at and run with it. Also of note, the menu seen on Unilocal/Jimmy’s website and the actual restaurant are different. It may be due to the transition from Jimmy’s Killer Cuisine to Jimmy’s Urban Bar.

Very good Bison Chile and African Chicken sandwich — excellent prices(both regular and happy hour) and a chill atmosphere. A small joint I dig in a super location on Blake Street.

Had dinner here before going out on a Sunday night. The place was pretty empty. The décor is sort of lofty with some exposed brick and some cheap wall art. The server was very friendly and chirpy. The place stank to high heaven with truffle oil(think dirty socks) from their signature fries and puffs(sweet potatoes croquettes) it was a bit off putting, but that seems to be their signature thing… so that’s ok. I ordered the gyro with fries(homemade) and it was pretty good. Not as good as other gyros I have eaten in the springs, but not bad at all. The rest of my party had salmon salad and a burger. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Overall nothing that I was super impressed with but def a place I would come back to.

This place doesn’t care one whit about its customers. That is the only conclusion I can draw. Sweetie and I were both served visibly burned food. Clearly, obviously burned. Yet the kitchen sent the food out, and the server delivered it. Burned, sitting right there on the plates. To whit, the housemade chips and fries. We both got burgers, one with pulled pork and one with brisket. The burgers themselves were decent. Didn’t need the addition of pork or brisket. But my chips were dark, dark brown, and tasted like charred cinders. Sweetie’s fries were also dark, dark brown. Shockingly so. We ate only one chip, one fry, before abandoning the rest. Server never asked why we weren’t eating our dark, dark tater products. Truly incomprehensible, the entire tater situation. The staff seemed nice, and as if they wanted to do a good job. I give them credit for that. But they also seemed as if they hadn’t the faintest clue about how to serve customers. They were alternately frazzled, confused, stressed, clueless, or, more fun, all four at once. Pleasant, yes, but they made the experience uncomfortable. Also uncomfortable– it took a long time to get our beers, and seemingly forever to get our food. The place was nearly empty. Two other tables, and a few people at the bar, totaling eleven customers(including us). Between ordering and receiving our food, about 30 minutes passed(no exaggeration). For burgers.(Perhaps the chips and fries were roiling boiling the entire time.) And we could see into the kitchen. Plenty of staff. Who were all standing around talking. To each other. To the servers. For 30 minutes. Also uncomfortable– the atmosphere. Quiet, muted. No energy. And the place also feels as if it doesn’t quite know what it wants to be. A semi-upscale gastropub? Or a sports bar with huge, glaring TVs everywhere? Or a dive where regulars get stupid drunk at the bar at noon on a Saturday? All three, apparently. Jimmy’s could actually be good with a few tweaks. Which, I suppose, can all be boiled down to one vital and desperately needed change. Hire a good manager! Who can wrest control of the place. Do that, and we’ll give the place another try.

We ended up in Jimmy’s Urban Bar and Grill because of a Groupon that offered beers and burgers at a very decent price. There was outside, sidewalk seating, which would be nice to use on a warmer day than what we had. In scanning the menu for the beer, it was found that there was an excellent selection of tasty craft beers. For the burger sides, I chose chips and my wife took fries with added cheese. I found the chips to be not tasty at all. The fries were decent when first served but quickly lost their taste since they were overcooked. With house burgers like the ones we were going to receive, we have typically found that the pads are so thick, it is not unusual for the insides to be totally raw. Consequently, instead of asking for the burger to be cooked«medium» my wife decided to go with«well done.» The waiter indicated that«well done» meat tended to lose its taste and recommended that we stick with medium and that there would be no raw meat in the middle of the pad. We went with«medium» and sure enough, the pads had a fair amount of totally uncooked meat in the middle of the pad. My wife scrapped out the middle of her burger and bagged it up for our dog. The dog gave the beef a four-tail rating and had no complaints. We found a fly in one of our water glasses – not a big deal, but it cost a few points in our evaluation. Service was actually pretty good – waiters were quick and tried to be helpful – coming by frequently enough to answer our needs, but not so much to be bothersome. The interior had some nice paintings and a reasonably good vibe to it. While we give the place an overall 3 rating because of the food, it is probably worth a second look and has potential to be higher.

The one-star review(the text of which is still below) has been changed to a four star review, based entirely on the attention provided by Jimmy, and the quality of our return visit. ========= Updated review: Nearly immediately after I added my review on Thursday I was contacted by Jimmy(incidentally: not«Jimmy»), who expressed apologetic concern for the service and food quality we’d received the night before. He offered a free meal, for my husband and I «to show you what we’re really all about». Jimmy’s immediate attention and obvious concern prompted a skeptical me(and an optimistic husband) to return to the restaurant Thursday night. We arrived at around 8pm to find a moderate crowd, and were seated promptly. The same waitress that helped us on Wednesday night helped us on Thursday, and with her attention much less divided, and she remained a delight to be served by. Jimmy told us a bit about what happened the night before from his perspective(he happened to be cooking), and then offered us a drink and invited us to order anything on the menu of our choice. He expressed confidence in his entire menu, and that excited me. I ordered the Da Ditka burger, and my husband ordered The Ultimate BBQ Platter. The difference in quality for me was absolutely night and day, and my husband remained impressed with the quality of the food at Jimmy’s. My burger the night before was bland and boring. My burger on Thursday was absolutely mind blowing. The best part of the evening for me was seeing that Jimmy genuinely cared what we thought, and was genuinely distressed over the poor quality of service that his customers had recieved the night before. Also important to note: I didn’t see any evidence of special treatment or specific attention to detail for our meal. Jimmy didn’t cook the food for us, but let his cooks do it. He was just present, checking on us multiple times(without hovering), and then leaving for the night once he confirmed that we were satisfied with our meals. Never did I expect to be writing this update, but even after a few days of considering, it’s absolutely deserved. ========================== Original review: ========================== Summary: Every single good thing I have had to say about Denver was countered by this place. There’s nothing redeemable for me, and I definitely won’t eat here or recommend it ever again. — — — — — — - The good: We arrived at around 6:00 with a table of 8 and were sat immediately. About 10 minutes later a waitress arrived to take our drink orders, which were delivered promptly and correctly. Our appetizers(duck fat fries and artichoke dip) were hot when we got them. My husband was EXTREMELY impressed with his Da Ditka burger. — — — — — — - The bad: There was an older gentleman walking around(whom we jokingly referred to as «Jimmy»). I didn’t really take notice of him until I heard the chef say«You just took that to the wrong damn table», and then I watched as they proceeded to have an agitated disagreement through the kitchen window. He continued to deliver food, but he mostly was just standing and staring at the kitchen. As our appetizers were delivered the tables really started to fill in, and the real problems started to appear. It seemed like there were only three waitresses for the entire place, and it was clear that wasn’t enough. The table that was sat next to us had a reservation, and they were waiting long enough for drinks that they were loudly agitated from the start of their time. The kitchen was extremely slow(it was over an hour before our food was delivered), and half of the orders had errors(incorrect sides, meats cooked to the wrong temp). While«Jimmy» did deliver the food to our table(though he tried hard to hand the wrong food to people at the table), no one came back to check on us and our waitress couldn’t be flagged down. We were all quite hungry, so we all just quietly ate the food that we got, as much as we could. — — — — — — - The ugly: «Jimmy» came back to the table after we were done eating to clear the table. One of the people at the table ordered a well done burger, and was delivered a raw burger, so when«Jimmy» excitedly asked«How was everything?», the man with the raw burger(of which he’d only eaten ¼) spoke up. «Jimmy» was completely unremorseful, and didn’t even seem phased. «Jimmy» offered to have another made, but when that was declined(we were all more than ready to be the hell out of there), he shrugged and went back to staring into the kitchen. As a member of the customer service industry I know that messing up that hard means you take responsibility and try to make it right with the customer, but the reaction«Jimmy» gave us made clear to me: this was the norm, and I won’t be giving Jimmy’s a second chance.

We came here for lunch on a Saturday, around 1130. There was the perfect table for 3 on the patio and we were quickly seated. Service was very friendly and prompt even from the start. To drink, we had their bottomless mimosas for $ 10. Servers throughout our meal were very diligent about ensuring our glasses were filled at all times. Greatly appreciated! For food, I had the smokehouse burger with the brisket, and half fries/half coleslaw. My friends enjoyed the mac and cheese, and the ditka burger. Our food came out quickly and everyone exclaimed that their meals were delicious. Prices are right and food is delicious. The happy hour menu lists options not otherwise available and so I look forward to coming back to try the cheesesteak and brisket sliders!

Food was fine but not great, nothing to rave about nothing to complain about either. I bought a coupon on Unilocal and it was kind of annoying that they wouldn’t let both me and my friend use ours. I know its in the fine print but normally people are nice about that. Also they wouldn’t give you the happy hour price if you used it which was double lame. Probably wouldn’t come back except that I have to use my coupon. ;/

Great place! Came in here because Freshcraft was packed before an Avs game, and have ended up coming here more than Freshcraft, more than any other place before Avs games. Staff is great. Food is pretty solid. Mac n Cheese is amazing. Cheaps drinks, good location, and a great place to hang out for a pregame.

My son and I came here for lunch over the weekend. I did not know coming in that it was a Chicago themed restaurant. But being a Chicago native, I was thrilled! The space was very impressive. High, vaulted ceilings with plenty of sunlight streaming into the dining area. My son and I happened to get there at the beginning of happy hour. We noticed the happy hour specials displayed on the table and decided to try a couple things. We ordered the hot wings and I had a jalapeño cilantro margarita. It was excellent! The hot wings were a little on the small side, but the flavor was excellent. For lunch I had the Greek nachos. They were fantastic! Crispy pita chips topped with hummus, gyro meat and drizzled with their version of tzatziki key and some sort of a aioli. Unlike anything I had ever had before! I absolutely loved them. My son had the Ditka burger and liked that as well. I wasn’t overwhelmed with it, but as long as he liked it! The service was really remarkable. It was incredibly busy but all of the servers who were working really pulled together as a team. Every single person working that day came over to our table at some point. Great example of teamwork, & a wonderful way to keep the customers taken care of when the restaurant is very busy. The icing on the cake was that after we left my son and I began walking down Blake Street, and the waitress ran out after us because I left my sunglasses on the table. It really means a lot that she would go out of her way to chase me down the street when she clearly had her hands full with the customers in the restaurant. I am looking forward to coming back here again and trying more of the fantastic happy hour offerings!

Found a deal online for here and decided to try it. I’m so glad I did. My husband had the gin gin mule and although, I’m not a gin drinker, I thought it was awesome. I ordered the barnyard mac n cheese with the bison red chili. Yep definitely in heaven with that dish. My husband ordered the vodka gnocchi and it was absolutely divine. The service is a wonderful balance of attentive and leaving you to enjoy your meal. The restroom is clean with the stalls made of slats of reclaimed wood. The sink is a frosted bowl with a waterfall faucet. Definitely a must experience!

We found this gem on a whim during opening day. On OpenTable, it was billed as «Jimmy’s Killer Cuisine and Cocktails» — how can you NOT check that out? We were pleasantly surprised with our overall experience. It was steady the entire time we were there. The two bartenders were awesome. They acknowledged us when we first walked in, and then apologized that they were so busy. One explained that the bartender had called in sick and this was only her third week on the job(she is a server). It wasn’t an excuse, just a quick explanation to let us know she’d be with us shortly. That is all I ask for my service, and we were in no hurry. The restaurant is small and cozy, great ambiance. I had the grapefruit martini, and then a basil passionfruit one. Very creative cocktail list. The menu here is one of the more unique I’ve seen, with flavors from Africa, Asia, and American(Cajun/Southern), great twists on different items. I had the African chicken sandwich, a crispy chicken breast coated in an addictively spicy/sweet sauce on a fresh brioche bun, and served with homemade french fries and homemade ketchup. I wished my appetite were bigger, but I enjoyed every bite. My husband had the king jambalaya with salmon. The flavors were explosive. I had a few bites, including the perfectly cooked salmon, and it was amazing. The owners were present and walked around greeting people and making sure everything was good for the customers. This was one of our best experiences so far with a restaurant in Denver. We will be back!

Nice ambiance, great place to grab some drinks and bite. We went here to grab a small bite before we went out to party, we had beer, hot wings and sliders. The hot wings were okay, nothing special. the sliders were also mediocre. But the ambiance is nice if you want to get drinks and a small bite.

Went for Sunday brunch and were immediately seated by Tessa, who then also was our server. Great variety of food on the menu. We started off with the bottomless Mimosas and then ordered the African Chicken and Waffles and the Green Eggs and Lamb. Everything was very tasty and the bottomless mimosas just kept coming at a good rate! :-) Place is trendy and had some great artwork that you can purchase. Found meter parking right away and just had a very good brunch experience(not that expensive either).
