Solid. Every time. In every state. Love the Capital Grille. The atmosphere, the service(Shout out to Savannah) the steaks, never anything but delighted

Best steak in Denver. Can you say in house dry aged prime beef. I ordered the NY strip med rare Oscar style. The steak was cooked perfectly, but what was even better was the crab cake that topped it. Being kind of a crab cake snob having lived in Maryland, it was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of breading. Our server was outstanding, he knew all the right recommendations to please the palette and very personable. Hot date, business meeting, or family time? Capitol Grille has you covered.

Just moved to Denver from Seattle and I have asked a few locals where to find a good piece of fish. I was told there is nowhere to find a good piece of fish, LIES!!! The salmon at this place was of the best pieces of is ever had. Citrus and honey type glaze with full nuts in there for crunch. The mashed potatoes had a flavor that I couldn’t identify but paired so amazingly, and I mean amazingly; altogether this was a 5-star dish. Good setting, great service and delicious food

I remember the first time I went to a steakhouse where the sides were served«a la carte.» It was a Fleming’s in Austin and was delicious and… very expensive compared to wherever I had gotten steaks previously. We knew we wanted a nice steak dinner while in Denver and even though Capital Grille is not unique to Denver, we didn’t feel like we’d splurge this much again anytime soon and passed on the place with the checkered table cloths and animal heads and made a reservation at CG. Valet was pleasant. We walked in 10 minutes early and our table was ready. Coming from Austin it’s hard to judge appropriate attire since jeans/shorts/flip flops are so widely accepted in Texas but I gussied up a bit in non-jeans and the man felt comfortable in a nice shirt, nice shoes, and dark jeans. We were treated very kindly and not snubbed at all so I think this was fine. Our waiter and sommelier were both A+++ experts. Service like you would not believe. Every little detail was perfect. I enjoyed a variety of beers and P enjoyed a couple of glasses of red that were paired excellently with his blue cheese topped sirloin. We started with crab cakes and corn relish. I hate corn. This was delicious. They kindly brought each crab cake on separate plates so we did not have to serve ourselves. P’s sirloin med-rare was AMAZING. I ordered the ribeye, medium, and it came out over. The server was not having it, whisked away my steak and brought out new potatoes AND a new steak knife!(!!) My mind was blown… a NEW steak knife?! New sides so I wouldn’t be eating cold potatoes? It’s the little things. The correct temp’d ribeye arrived and it was good but next time I would get a sirloin or other as they do tend to char the ribeyes a bit more than I was expecting. When our server found out it was our first time, he insisted we have each of their famous desserts: a coconut cream pie and a piece of brulee’d cheesecake. Ho-ly crap. I hate coconut but just writing this makes me want a piece of that pie. The brulee was deliciously executed. The evening we spent at Capital Grille is one of my favorite memories. The atmosphere was lovely and I feel very strongly that we received every bit of value possible from what we spent.

An excellent meal(although the the price did match that). We didn’t have starters although some looked well worth having a crack at. The mains were all very, very good. The lamb chops were the pick of the lot, very tender and tasty. The rib eye with the porcini rub(the chefs special) was very good and flavourful although the rub did make it come out very dark on the outside. The tenderloin and lobster was ‘beautiful’ according to my misses. The sides were all extremely high quality — we had the spinach, Brussel sprouts, asparagus and potatoes au gratin(the pick of the lot). Desserts stole the show. The cheesecake was the best I’ve had in years. The chocolate pudding was also very good. Service was efficient and effective.

We always stop here for Christmas eve! Best steak I’ve had in my life, one of the few times I requested the chef so I could compliment him. Steak was cooked perfectly. The spicy calamari we ordered was the best I’ve had in my life. The atmosphere and service is what you expect from a top quality steak restaurant!

Probably some of the best service I’ve ever had. Our server — Lane — was very outgoing and talkative and really made us feel welcome there. We started off with the calamari(which had jalapeño’s and peppers on it, which made it fantastic). I then had one of the steaks well done — which is how I like it — and the meat was cooked to perfection. We also got the creamy mashed potatoes, which were the creamiest I’d ever had. They were to die for. I loved it at all. I’ll be back!

The Capital Grille is the just 5 stars all around. Service is impeccable, the food is well executed and delicious and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I had the bone in filet cooked medium rare. It was very tender and cooked well. The table had Sams Mashed Potatoes(creamy and smooth) and the French Beans with Heirloom Tomatoes(simple, but good). Plus the chocolate cake with the port infused cherries(yum!). I can’t say enough about the experience. We sat in a booth at the back near the kitchen, which had a lot of action, but I found it fun to watch. It is definitely a special occasion kind of place, but it won’t disappoint if you want a superior experience.

My wife and I dined here on the Bosses dime. I typically don’t eat at high end restaurants because I never feel they are worth the money. Roadhouse and Outback are my kind of place. I have to say though I was blown away by the food we received. I ordered a 16oz filet mignon, when asked how I want it cooked I said however your chef makes it. I figured they know what they are doing. It came medium or medium rare can’t really say. Hard to judge a steak that thick. It was the most amazing piece of beef I have ever had. My wife was eating it too and she can’t ever eat meat that is not well done. She thought it was amazing as well. The bill was high for my kind of dinner budget but it didn’t matter because my boss was paying. I have to say though we deffenitly plan on returning on our own dime because it is worth every penny. Highly recommended.

Took my mom and dad here when they were in town over the summer. First, the place is a bit too dressy for my tastes. Granted, I get that it is downtown and blah blah blah, but why does downtown have to equate to pretentious dining? It doesnt. Anyways, on to the food. In one word, i would describe their food as mediocre or average. At 50 – 60 dollars for a steak, I was expecting to be blown away, especially by their aged steaks. Well, they were just about as good as something you’d get at Texas Roadhouse but 3 times as expensive. The drinks were ok, the appetizers were ok, and the desserts were ok. And I think thats the problem. Nothing blew me away, and for a restaurant that charges as much as they do for house wine($ 60pb), I expected more. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone I know for two simple reasons: it is way overpriced for what you get and the pretentious atmosphere just isnt my cup of tea.

While the food was great, it was the service here that really stood out. My wife and I made reservations for our anniversary and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Even the manager came over to our table to congratulate us and wish us well. Yes, it was(really) expensive, but I didn’t feel like I got bent over when paying the check.

I entertained clients at Capital Grille during the week. The location is perfect, right in the heart of LoDo. My problem is that, unless you order their 3 course lunch, you will overpay for your food. Two of us ordered from the 3 course menu(the sirloin was excellent) and found our entire experience to be excellent. The third guy ordered a filet and cup of French onion soup. His bill was the same as the other two. I find it difficult to believe that a small filet should be the same as a 3 course meal with sirloin. Regardless. the restaurant is beautiful, is situated in an ideal location, and works well for business outings.

My boyfriend and I went to Capital Grille for our one year anniversary. We worried a lot about what to wear and decided to go for casual formal. It seemed like a lot of people were very formally dressed, but casual formal was just fine. The environment of the entire restaurant was very classy with the dim lighting and was absolutely beautiful. Seriously, all the staff that we came across were very professional and friendly to us. We felt very comfortable and the food was delicious. We had lobster and crab cakes, dry aged NY strip, filet mignon, lobster mac ‘n’ cheese, and Crème Brûlée for dessert. We highly recommend the lobster mac ‘n’ cheese! It was the perfect amount of cheese and balanced well with the lobster. Overall, my experience was wonderful and I would highly recommend for a fancy, special occasion dinner.

I was over here on Saturday. Mygawd, excellent steak and cocktails. The staff is awesome and gave us 5 stars service. Our waiter was named Mark and was very good. The food was good but I needed a doggy bag for the double layered chocolate cake. They’re a very class act.

I asked around for the best place to have a steak, cocktail, and be able to catch a game in downtown Denver and everyone I spoke to recommended the Capital Grille. The recommendations were spot-on… The Filet(mid-rare) was cooked perfectly, sides including Brussel sprouts with bacon were awesome. Had some chocolate-espresso magic for dessert which, when all bundled with a vibrant, live atmosphere, all made for a great evening. I will be back…

Kudos to the waiter for leaving all the women in our party roses! ENVIRONMENT As a chain, The Capital Grill had a standard décor that evokes masculine streak house. This location is on a nice street with shops things to do. SERVICE Super knowledgable. Please keep the jokes coming WINE A vast and excellent wine selection available on iPad, which provides interesting descriptions and category filtering. They let us try one, which we decided to go with since we knew they couldn’t reuse the opened bottle. I’m spoiled by wineries and wine bars so I’m used to trying first. APPS Calamari — good and standard Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella — great app. The dish almost felt like a cheese stuffed steak. The cheesy bread that comes with this dish is my FAVORITE. SOUP Clam Chowder −8÷10 compared to real New England clam chowder SIDES Mashed Potatoes — Delicious, salty goodness Brussel Sprouts — really buttery, so they’re amazing Mac n Cheese — can I describe mac n cheese as light and refreshing because it’s runny? Fries — crispy garlic fries Asparagus– perfec ENTREE Filet — rare BESTFILET I’VEHAD. SOTENDERANDPERFECT, THANKYOU

I was in Denver for the AORN conference with two other people from the company and we decided to have dinner here. I’m glad I went right after the conference otherwise I’d have been utterly under-dressed. This place is classy, and I mean CLASSY. Dim lit décor and music from the Prohibition Era. Fancy silverware clinking from all the steaks and the ambiance like that like of an old school posh NYC joint. Apart from the excellent maitre d, the service was impeccable. The waiter knew the menu back and forth and also suggested wines to go with each dish. We ordered drinks and I wanted to try something other than wine. Sure enough, I was adventurous and ordered the Hennessy VSOP. The smoothest most tantalizing cognac I’ve had in my life! What really REALLY impressed me about this restaurant was its accommodability. Being a vegetarian, obviously I knew I was in the wrong place. I mean a traditional American steakhouse? Talk about axing my own foot. Nonetheless I asked the waiter if they had something that was vegetarian but not on the menu. He immediately said the chef could whip up some baked tofu and vegetables if I liked. My eyes lit up like a Christmas tree and I was almost starting to look like a drooling pup. «YES, please!» escaped my mouth as I was so awestruck by this one single act. And the rest, as they say was history. We enjoyed our dinners which was no less than spectacular. Tofu so soft and well balanced on the spices, it could be stored in a Museum, vegetables perfectly roasted and succulent. I definitely walked out of there a happy customer. If and when you find yourself in Denver, definitely come here.

I want to give this place a 3 but because I only paid $ 30 for the restaurant week deal, I really cannot complain. You get what you pay for! So my assumption that their regular menu and less busy weeks might offer better stuff prompts me to bump up this review by 1 star. I really dug the atmosphere of this restaurant. It was very 18th century but in the government-library vibe rather than the frou-frou Victorian light colors & flowers way. Walls had wainscoting & lights were dim. There were paintings on the walls with decorative gold frames. Paintings I saw were of flowers, farm animals and dogs. I came for restaurant week & was kindly seated @ a table inside a private room with four tables despite being half an hour late for the reservation. The server/hostess were very kind/accommodating. We had a blonde waitress who was pretty funny/sarcastic despite the serious demeanor of the restaurant’s decoration. A friend ordered some sparkling peach moscato & she had her taste it. «Have a taste & see if you like it. If you don’t, I’ll have it!» Restaurant week = $ 30 a person & comes with a pre-fixe menu with some options to choose from. Appetizers included: clam chowder, wedge salad with bleu cheese, tomatoes & applewood smoked bacon or a Caesar salad. The main entrée options were filet mignon(8 oz), bone-in aged sirloin(14 oz), porcini rubbed tenderloin with heirloom tomatoes & aged balsamic sauce(the waitress’s personal recommendation & favorite), seared citrus glazed salmon or all natural herb grilled chicken. Entrees came with the following accompaniments for the table to share: Sam’s mashed potatoes & French green bean. Dessert options were: crème brûlée with berries or espresso chocolate cake with raspberries. The verdict: I got the clam chowder, the filet mignon & the crème brûlée. The clam chowder was my favorite dish of the 3. It was flavorful & not too salty. The clams weren’t too chewy & the portion size wasn’t too filling(about a ½ cup size). They gave a bag of chowder crackers in a plastic bag & there were probably too many crackers for the size of the chowder. I had the filet cooked medium rare & it was slightly more rare than most places do it(but most places overcook their medium rares). This made a perfect piece of meat for leftovers because I couldn’t finish my 8 oz & had to take it home. Because it was on the rare side, I was able to reheat my meat without it becoming dry. The filet was standard: lightly seasoned & tender. I would have liked for the French green beans to be cooked a little more than the ones I had. I thought it tasted a bit uncooked. The chunky mashed potatoes were good & so were the breads that they gave prior to the appetizers. The crème brûlée was almost too creamy & the caramelized sugar coat on top wasn’t warm. The crème brûlée seemed like it had been sitting out & ready to serve. I couldn’t finish mine because I was too full. I tried a friend’s espresso cake & thought the flavor was good but the cake was slightly dry for how dense it was. It was also served with a squeezed whip cream(?) that was thick and dry like mashed potatoes & had a horrible consistency(for whipped cream). Again it seems like the dessert was probably sitting out ready-to-go. I liked that the wine/alcohol selection was all on an iPad. It was easy to navigate & made an interesting contrast to the the old-world feel of the restaurant. I had a cabernet sauvignon that went well with my filet for $ 10. $ 30 really is a great deal for the ambience I got & the amount of food. I was stuffed to the rafters, no thanks to my tight dress, and even had food to bring home.
