I really wanted to like this place since my date kept mentioning how great it was and I was excited to give it a try. When walking in, the receptionist welcomed us with a smile, and asked us to kindly wait while they were getting out table ready. When we got our table, our waiter was friendly and checked up on us regularly. When we ordered our food, I got a steak and lobster tail with a side of mashed potatoes and broccoli. The meat didn’t taste right, had no flavor, my lobster tail tasted so dry, I couldn’t even finish the broccoli. My date’s fish didn’t taste fresh either. Maybe it was just a bad night, but I’d like to give this place another try. One day.

The absolute best place in Denver for an old misanthrope to go on his birthday, or for a retired drinker to hit up in the afternoon! Let me explain: FFCo has 2 cool deals. The first is that within 10 days on either side of your birthday you get your age taken off your entrée(up to $ 32). So, if you’re 50 years old and you order a $ 30 main course you get it for $ 15(if you have their«Birthday Card» which you can get online for free). No one else at the table can participate. Don’t know what happens if it’s their birthday, too. Didn’t ask. So just imagine when I went their last night with my 88 year old father-in-law. The second deal is that they serve oysters for $.50 a piece from something like 3 – 5 p.m. at HH. So here’s what I’m thinking… Fast forward 35 or so years.(Don’t shrug your shoulders. .. FFCo has already been open for over 40 years so maybe they’ll stick around for this food fantasy:). My family and friends have all died off and I’m sitting alone in my nursing home. It’s lunchtime and it’s my birthday. The staff puts a hat on me, wipes off my drool and sings the«Happy Birthday» song celebrating my 100th year on the planet. Then around mid-afternoon I sneak out and roll my chair over to the FFCo. For $ 10.00 I have a dozen oysters and a big tall beer(with enough left over for an old person’s tip to the bartender). I then go into the dining room. I sit at a table all by myself and order their most expensive entrée that’s covered by my 100% discount. Drunk stuffed and happy(?) I roll myself back to the home, looking forward to what’s going to happen next year when I guess they’ll owe me 1% to eat there again. You now know the 2 best deals at the FFCo. Otherwise, you can go there for the reason we did last night.(It was late. My honey’s parents wanted fish, and we couldn’t find a really great seafood restaurant nearby). Checked out this restaurant on a Monday night for it’s happy hour: have to say, great food and great service! Happy hour deals are very reasonable — minimum of 1 alcoholic drink purchase and they have a wide selection of foods on their happy hour menu ranging from fish & chips, sliders, tacos, calamari, mussels and more! The $ 0.50 oysters are very good as well; the selection varies but tonight we had the Chesapeakes and they were sweet, lightly briny and very fresh. Accompanied by homemade cocktail sauce and a squeeze of lemon and we had a winner! Other items we tried: fried calamari(the breaking was great and the calamari was very tender and not chewy), fried clam strips, fish & chips(hand cut French fries… Awesome!), clam chowder(healthy servings of clam & bacon), & a dozen oysters. HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

I came here with a party of four for happy hour. It was a really great deal for oysters! I don’t think you can beat $.50 an oyster. It was very fresh and delicious. We also got several items off their happy hour menu: coconut shrimp, calamari, crab trash and clam strips. All I think we’re about $ 4 – 5 a piece. For dessert we got key lime pie and the chocolate xtreme which was so delicious. It is a molten lava cake covered which strawberries, chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. We left extremely full for a great price. We didn’t try anything but the happy hour deals so we will have to come back and try other items off the menu. The ambiance is not great, however. It could use a serious update and the bathroom smells like a litter box. I think if they spiffed up the place a little they could draw in a younger crowd.(As we were leaving we noticed that most patrons were in the over 60 range)

Came here with a pretty large group for their happy hour because honestly, 50 cents an oyster is fantastic. I ordered a dozen for myself and I was pretty pleased overall. They were fresh and they were well-cleaned which I was pretty impressed with. The Prince Edward Island Garlic Mussels were also super delicious — ask for more bread to eat with the delicious buttery sauce! The Rocky Mountain Oysters we ordered just as a joke, but as far as the taste is concerned, it kind of just tastes like chicken with a calamari texture. Not sure if I’d ever order it again, but it made for a fun story to tell. The clam chowder was just okay, but it was also just $ 2.50 so no complaints there. My friend had the ceviche which I believe was also just okay. The service was slow which was disappointing because the restaurant was relatively empty, but I’d still come back for the oysters during happy hour! They’re so cheap!

As a New England native it has been hard finding good quality fish out here in little ‘ol landlocked Colorado. My husband and me have gone to a few other places but had pretty much given up on fish we didn’t cook at home. This place we wound up actually finding by a happy coincidence: we were hungry and in the area. At first glance, the inside is pretty cool. Who doesn’t love all the beautiful fish tanks around? We are always greeted by warm, genuine folk. The manager even recognizes us despite only coming here about three times. Nifty! As you walk through the restaurant to find your seat… Well, that would be where the star is lost. I love you guys, but ripped seating? I think you can do better. We usually get salmon because that’s our favorite and it is always amazingly cooked and seasoned. They have a large gluten free selection and their gluten free bread actually tastes like. Bread! If you are forced to live gluten free, like me, you understand how revolutionary that is. Wait staff is always punctual. They never let my water(or tea) go empty, and they are always friendly even when busy. They ARE a bit on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. The crème brûlée is also pretty darn good FYI!

Meh. Calamari was very good. Ceaser salads were mediocre. My crusted Mahi Mahi was too heavily crusted and dry. Mom’s shrimp was good and Dad’s prime rib was a good cut. Service was not good. Never brought one salad, never refilled Pepsi, nor water. Listening to other tables, they were having same problems. The interior has never changed-time for an upgrade.

This is based on their Sunday brunch. The service was horrible. They did. It keep our water glasses filled. Some of the dishes on the buffet were good like the salads. However, the hit seafood dishes were all bad. There was a seasoning problem, a freshness problem. The shrimp was under cooked. The crab was good. Desserts were marvelous. We will not so the brunch again but will try a regular dinner service.

I’m not sure why the best restaurants in Denver have lower ratings on Unilocal and the terrible restaurants are rated high. Since moving to Denver from San Diego I have experienced some bad food but this place deserves 5 stars across the board. 1) Pricing is excellent 2) quality and freshness 5 star 3) service, 5 star I’ll be back! Hidden gem.

I remember a time when this place was pretty great. I’m not entirely sure how it started to go down hill — Today my family and I went for brunch because it was my Mom’s birthday this past week. The food was OK, the selection was not the greatest. Most of our party was there for the crab. The one shellfish I did try was a mussel(which I spit out, because it was BAD). I decided to opt out any seafood choices after seeing/tasting that. The service was good; the young lady was attentive and prompt with the water and coffee refills. The restaurant was over crowded, and the traffic flow throughout the buffet line was set up poorly. We won’t be back, and I will strongly suggest to others I know to avoid this restaurant too. There are plenty of other choices in Denver.

The Fresh Fish needs to freshen up! We have been coming here for years and have always been fans of The Fresh Fish Company. The calamari is still the best in town by far, bar none! It has often been the reason we go there. All of that being said the restaurant seems to be resting on it laurels. Still some of the best fish around, but the façade of an upscale restaurant has long worn thin and is getting tattered. The restaurant clearly still has an older following from its glory days, and the interior seems to be dated from when that following was young and hip, guessing the late 80’s. I too thought the ambiance was quite nice, but that was back when I started going there in the early 90’s. I grew used to it and often found it comfortable like an old couch, but now the décor seems tired, tattered and dated. Unfortunately the staff seems to suffered the same hard life, in some cases quite prematurely. It wasn’t just our waiter, the complete staff aside from the host looked disheveled and sloppy. Dingy uniforms that didn’t seem to fit, poor personal grooming. The package didn’t inspire confidence, neither did the individual. I am all for casual, but these guys were plain sloppy, and seemed as if they might be more comfortable changing oil at wal mart. The food… I had the striped marlin. Glad to say it was excellent! Fish like that can keep me coming back. A nice sized portion, perfectly prepared! The sides weren’t so great. Nothing special about them and likely not even fresh. Betting the veggies came right out of a bag and simply boiled or steamed. The mash potatoes had the consistency of pudding and reminded me of school food. Not even good school food, this was like something from a DPS lunch room. Again, the calamari was excellent! If your a calamari fan, you need to have it here. Dessert was hit and miss… the strawberry shortcake looked awesome and lived up to its delicious appearance. The key lime pie looked as if it came right out of a box. Not even a sara lee box. More like the off brand box, like the cheap pie you would get to throw in someones face. I would have been happier with a green otterpop. They have a great happy hour, with great values. Still the same sloppy bar staff. I am sure we will be back as good fish is hard to find in Denver, but were hoping the ownership does some reinvestment before it goes the way of Baby Doe’s, The Broker, or The Normandy… Cheers!

The Fresh Fish Co has one of the best happy hour menus. For seafood, it is so affordable. Whenever I go with a group of friends, we always start with rounds of oysters. Do not expect different varieties of oyster; it is one basic type, but delicious nonetheless. Its clean and fresh. Although, there has been a few times where it wasn’t so clean nor fresh, but for 50 cents, you can’t complain. We are also a big fan of the crab trash. We do not understand why it is called crab trash because it contains all the best part of the crab; legs, claws, body and everything. The garlic mussels and coconut shrimps are also my faves. Honestly, I do not think you can go wrong with anything on their happy hour menu and if you do, its only $ 4. However, now that I think of it, stay clear of the calamari. Its not good. The Fresh Fish Co also host special brunch/dinners for holidays. I have gone on one of their Father’s Day buffet brunch. It was definitely nice.

I had not been here in well over a decade. My memory of the place was just okay. A friend of mine suggested(okay, insisted) on coming here for happy hour on a Friday afternoon. I walked through the door right at 4pm, and 2⁄3 of the tables were already claimed in the bar area. I staked out a 4-top and waited for my group. The seating area is a bit tight. There are several high tops by the windows for couples, but more limited options for larger parties. It is tight enough with steady traffic, that many people probably felt like they were in the way of others. They had a decent selection of craft beers and they were serving them ice-cold in largish glasses at happy hour prices. .. so all was well in the world. I also tried the sangria and though it was okay. Since I had some time to kill, I started with some oysters. These were basic(Chesapeake – Maryland) oysters on sale during HH for $.50 each. They were very fresh(no surprise) and were served in the classic no-frills style with horseradish, cocktail sauce, and saltines on the side. You were also provided a small bottle of Tabasco. They were quite good for the price. I also tried the beef sliders. This was two beef sliders with gorgonzola sauce and fries. The fries were nothing special, but the sliders were juicy medium-rare beef in a decent size. The coconut shrimp were good and the calamari were fine. Our service was excellent from start to finish. Prices on HH food are excellent. This outing was only marred slightly by a person later noticing that too much had been charged to their credit card(and the cash not applied to the bill first), but a quick call back to the business straightened this out.

Well let me start off by saying I love coming here for Sunday brunch I come occasionally for dinner and I do like their happy hour in the bar we came this evening there was a little mix up on our steaks so we change steaks our selves so they didn’t have to but pretty much when I cut into it was raw and just not good but nobody checked on us for quite a while so I basically just ate everything else on my plate and lost my appetite so I didn’t want another steak but they were very good about it and offered to give me another steak but I didn’t want it but they really do have great customer service and they treated our big group very good… you can’t get it right every time

Went here for happy hour for a birthday party. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about(with one exception). The service was absolutely horrible. The waitress almost never found her way to the table, so there was a ridiculous wait between ordering our drinks and ordering our food, and an even worse wait for the food to arrive. The waitress blamed us for that, saying that she was waiting for us to finish first round of oysters before bringing out our order(we had finished them some time ago, but it’s not surprising that she didn’t know that). They get two stars because they have a ghost pepper sauce which is absolutely delicious. I’m going to have to go back just to buy it by the bottle, but then I’ll go eat somewhere else.

Based on some of the reviews I didn’t have the highest expectations for The Fresh Fish Co, but I was nonetheless looking forward to dinner there(admittedly, for the company). Just before 8pm, there were only a few tables occupied, so being seated was not a problem. Our server was initially helpful, quickly taking our drink order and providing happy hour menus. After that, it was a bit difficult to get her attention. Happy Hour orders are small, so our strategy was to order early and often! We started with oysters, delicious! The other food we ordered was decent, but not something I think I’ll be craving. I might be back for the oysters though :)
