We went here for a barista throwdown — very cool atmosphere and event. The space is just inside the main entrance to Hotel Teatro. It does have a very«dark wood, old library, cool study» feel. The coffee made for the throwdown was fun and really good, but not sure of their day-to-day coffee or prices. Definitely worth a stop to mix up your coffee hang out scene.

Warm and cozy. That’s what comes to mind when thinking of The Study, which is in the Hotel Teatro. This makes sense given the study décor, comfy couches/chairs, and a big fireplace. I wouldn’t classify this as your everyday coffee stop — too expensive and not set up for that — but a great place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle, especially on a cold winter night. Plus you can order drinks from The Nickel restaurant next door. Service was friendly and the coffee tasty, though it felt a bit awkward because we weren’t sure if we were supposed to order at the bar-like area or sit down and wait for service. We chose the latter, which worked out fine. We need more coffee atmospheres like this — relaxed and welcoming — rather than upbeat. Then again, it would probably be hard to get enough traffic on a daily basis. So in short, this works great being in a hotel. If you need a break, but also want some coffee, perhaps give The Study a try. Note that the hours are unclear, but are certainly beyond what Unilocal has listed, as we were there around 5:30pm on a weekday.
