Three Lions

Terrible service! I left cash for the approximate tab plus tax, but no tip. No one noticed me even when I walked out. I regret paying now! I will NEVER go back!
«Spam Prevention» kept me from contacting The Three Lions. They probably have no interest in my comments.
I do not normally write reviews or comments, but the service at this place SUCKED!

I came in to Three Lions on this past New Year’s Eve with two friends for a drink before our 7PM dinner reservation at another nearby restaurant. I had high hopes, seeing the design to be just like the Scottish and British pubs I frequented during college. It was early, and there were only two other occupied tables in the whole place (not a problem for us, we didn’t mind the quiet).
A young man – the bartender/​server/​host? – came to greet us as we sat down, and was incredibly friendly; again, a step in the right direction. He gave us the beer and food menus, and we asked if we could also order mixed drinks from the bar (it is stocked full of liquor). He told us, «Oh sure! Just order anything you want and I’ll make it for you.» However, upon naming a few pretty common drinks, he got a little nervous and said he would definitely try.
Then, he checked our IDs; completely understandable, as we are college-​aged. My two friends were fine, as they are Colorado residents. However, I ran into some trouble. Apparently, this pub requires you to have a horizontally-​oriented driver’s license in order to drink there (for a reason our server was incapable of explaining to us). I am from out-​of-​state, and my state does not require you change your license from vertical to horizontal when you turn 21. I cannot state this more strongly: it is a perfectly valid driver’s license, but he would not accept it because of this establishment’s inane rule. Three Lions is essentially guaranteeing that anyone from out-​of-​state with a vertical license (regardless of its validity) cannot drink, unless they happen to come to the pub with their passport. Who in their right mind would do that? It is not a requirement in this country to own a passport, and many states allow you to retain the orientation of your license until it expires. Simply put, they are losing business for no logical reason.
Though he took almost 20 minutes to make our drinks (why have a full bar if your workers aren’t trained in making drinks?), our server was incredibly apologetic and gracious, and I do not blame him for the ridiculous policy of his place of work.
Drinks aside, I was hoping for more from the food. We ordered fries and fried artichokes, your typical, easy pub fare. The fries were hot, but completely unsalted; the artichokes were flavorless as well, and cold by the time they reached the table. On top of this, there was another server, a woman, who was incredibly rude to us upon bringing the food, practically throwing the plates and silverware on the table and giving us dirty looks. She did not even respond when I thanked her.
Finally, we were ready to leave. I turned and smiled at the man who had been serving us, and he seemed to recognize that I wanted the check; however, 10 minutes later, he still hadn’t come over. I got up to go to the bar (keep in mind, there were only 2 other tables with people!) and both he and the woman walked away when I came up there. I sat back down. The woman brought the check over, saying, «You want this?» and tossed it on the table, walking away again. We paid, and left without a goodbye from the staff.
In short, this place has rude staff members, slow work ethic, seriously sub par food and drinks, and an insane policy blocking certain patrons from drinking there. Will not be visiting again.

At first glance, I actually didn’t expect much from this pub, but Three Lions was pretty solid. We came in a group of 10, all ravenously hungry after arriving from the Denver airport. There were a number of TVs strewn out all over the place, most playing soccer, but a few TVs had college basketball and NBA on. I would say this is a good place to watch the game, but if there’s an important soccer match on, you might want to try elsewhere. It wasn’t too crowded, and since our group was so large, we opted for Three Lions.
We ordered a bunch of starters, including the scotch eggs, the pretzels, and fries. The scotch eggs were pretty good, and each order came with 3, which was a lot of food for $ 9 bucks. For my entrée, I personally went with the Lions turkey hoagie, so as to eat something that wasn’t fried. The bread was soft, which made it have a bit of a soggy texture, but the meat was actually pretty good. Overall, the sandwich was only okay, but I also tried some of the fish and chips, which were excellent. The fish was breaded and fried quite nicely, and it came with a huge mound of fries. That’ll teach me to stray away from fried food, heh.
Prices were reasonable, with beers running from small to large, and while they mostly only had imports, I personally went with the Fat Tire. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and remembered pretty much our entire order to a tee. I was actually amazed that she got all the little requests down, even with our fairly large group.
I can’t say I’ll be back any time soon, since there really wasn’t anything unique about the experience that would specifically bring me back, but again, Three Lions is a solid pub in its own right, and definitely a good choice if you’re in the area, perhaps looking for some good pub grub and somewhere to watch sports (soccer).

A soccer fans paradise
This is definitely an English pub, it is not meant to have the best food. You cannot go to a bar and expect to eat 5 star quality foods. The food here is typical bar food there is nothing special about it. The dishes are relatively bland however are great for snacking on when you’re watching a game or three.
I cannot really comment on the service, I came in with a huge group on New Year’s Day when there was only person working the entire bar and floor. The service was painfully slow however it was relatively busy and they were very understaffed. However when we were finally able to get our order in the waitress/​bartender was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Overall you simply cannot beat this place if you’re simply looking for a place to hang out and watch the soccer games.

Laid back, nice bartenders and cheap drinks. It’s easy to make Three Lions your permanent hangout. Also, they make one of the best Irish coffees I have ever had

Food was good. Awesome fish and chips but service was sub par. I’ll definitely be back. Just hope service is better the next time.

Claims to be a soccer bar yet I walk in on champion’s league day and everyone of their tv’s was set to wolfsburg — man utd. There are 7 other games happening on that day. To me that is not a soccer bar. There should be a tv set to every single game broadcast there is on that day. Until then they will not be getting any of my money

Maybe my new favorite pub in Denver, but at least the best I’ve found to watch a match-​it feels like it could be in Europe. The service was unexpectedly personal when the manager met us at the door to fill us in on the beat seating to watch our match. When the scotch egg wasn’t at usual standard they adjusted our bill, and several of the servers checked on us, including checking in when one of our group was having a tough time coming to terms with the score. The pub grub was decent though basic with a good selection of English drafts. I particularly enjoyed the orange ginger beer!

A decent sports bar if you like soccer. Worst food I’ve ever had, stay away from salads! Have an ok service. Sometimes it can get pretty loud. Would recommend only having beers in this place.

Came on Sunday game night. Waited at the front door, inside the door and at the first table for 20 minutes and nobody ever came to help us or greet us. There were maybe a few tables full but not busy by any means. Sadly, we left.

I didn’t get to try any of the food here, but it did smell yummy. The staff here is incredible! Absolutely wonderful people!

Hey, if you’re gonna be up at the crack of dawn watching soccer, you can at least enjoy a comfortable environment, good food, and booze starting at 7:00am. One game is shown on the main TVs in the pub, but there are also designated sections for each match being broadcast so fans can group together and watch even if other matches are happening at the same time. The food is always served hot and tasty, and includes lots of traditional British favorites. It can take a while to get the check, but the servers are always friendly and come around often for refills on coffee or water. This is, by far, my favorite pub to watch BPL games at in Denver.

I love soccer, but don’t enjoy watching it here. It’s overpriced, overcrowded, charmless and the service is terrible.

I think this place is great. It looks like a real English pub.
I was looking for a place to watch Real Madrid, and I found this pub. Service is being great, they have many beers for sale, and food was good. I had a black and bean salad made with definitely fresh ingredients, an Indian type.
I will be back for more. Maybe at night is even better.

Great place to catch the soccer matches. Food was average pub food but still good. Liked the Fullers on tap.

OK, first things first. You go to this place for football matches. As a place to catch a game or three VERY early on a weekend morning its the best place in Denver.
You don’t necessarily come here for the food. I can only comment on the breakfast menu cos that’s the only time I’ve been here. But the breakfast is average at best. It takes a long time for food to arrive and is usually half cold when it does.
But if you’re coming here for food, you’re doing something wrong. The atmosphere for big games is great. So many big screens that there’s hardly a bad seat in the house.
For everything I’ve said about the food, there isn’t another place in Denver I would go to see a match. If you’re die hard enough to get up at 5am to watch a match, this is the place to be.

Best place in Denver to watch a soccer match. Really fun atmosphere for any of the big games, but make sure to arrive early for something like the champions league final (I made this mistake…).
The food and drink selection is much better than I expected from a soccer pub. They have a lot of delicious British drafts on tap and all the food that I have tried so far has been really great. My favorite gameday combo is a pint of Guinness and the shepard pie (DELICIOUS!). The curry chips (fries) are an awesome snack if you don’t want a full meal.
Prices are not low, which is the main reason I’m giving 4 stars; however, they do have a limited happy hour menu, which is always good.

I cannot explain how upset and disappointed I am after my experience at Three Lion’s last night with my friends. I’ve frequently visited this pub after moving to the area last summer and grew quite fond of it. After last night, I will never be returning to Three Lion’s again.
My friends and I decided to go to TL for the ‘geeks who drink’ trivia night since it was so close. We arrived around 7:50 and made our way to the bar to grab a drink and tell the bartender that we would be sitting outside and would like menus for appetizers. He said that he would send a server out to our table as soon as possible. We grabbed our response sheet for the trivia and headed outside. We waited for about 20 minutes (already finished with the first round of trivia, drinkless) and then went inside to grab a server ourselves since no one was tending to us. Also, I must add that this whole time, the busser is going in and out grabbing other parties empty bottles and glasses. Maybe a bit of communication from the staff would have helped in this situation, but apparently if it’s not your problem, it’s not your problem.
After we went inside to grab a server ourselves, she came outside with an attitude and when it was my friends turn to order (she was the one who grabbed her from inside) she said «what do you need» and looks at my friend. Really? You’re that frustrated that you had to come do your job that you have to be rude on top of it? Anyways, she took our drink order and brought us out some menus for appetizers. After she brought us our drinks, the already bad experience continued to get worse.
We finished our first round of drinks and were ready for our second and our server was no where to be found. We literally had to go inside AGAIN and grab someone to take our second drink order and appetizer order as well. By this time about an hour had already gone by since our first round. The second server (whom I’ve saw several times prior and has worked there since I’ve been going there) came out to help us with an attitude as well. She apologized and said «sorry, we don’t really serve here». I literally looked at her and said «you don’t serve here, but you have menus?» After that comment, I was so frustrated that we gave her our second drink order as well as an order for a plate of fries and continued to play trivia. She comes out to give us our second order of drinks and says to my friend and I (who ordered a couple of Fat Tires) that she doesn’t know why they’re advertised for $ 4.25 online for Wednesdays, but that they’re going to come up as $ 6.25 on our bill). She didn’t even try at all to speak to a manager to see if there’s anything they could do instead to make up for it. Talk about horrible customer service skills.
Our drinks came out as well as serving plates for the fries, but absolutely no fries. for at LEAST 30 minutes after making the order. We physically had to ask the busser for a manager after going on 45 minutes. He looks at us and asks «so why do you need a manager?» I told him that it was nothing concerning him and that we needed to speak to a manager about a couple of issues we were having.
Low and behold, the very FIRST server (actually, they don’t ‘serve’ there so I don’t know what to call them honestly) came to our table and said «so you guys need to speak to a manager? Well I’m you’re manager, what’s up?» After explaining our issues, she said that she would make sure the beers were put in as the advertised price. We also told her about the fact that we ordered fries that never arrived to our table. As soon as she left, the fries arrived minutes later. That couldn’t have been done in the first place? The second server that gave us attitude came out and set the fries on the table (at this point, we’re done with the whole experience and just wanted to leave) and says «we good?» then walked away.
We didn’t get our check until we had to grab a bartender to get it for us. We told him that we mentioned we didn’t want the fries to the manager, but she still brought them out. He said that he would comp the fries, but then made us feel like we were just trying to cause issues after saying «how do I know if you really didn’t enjoy/​want the fries or if you’re just trying to get a free meal». We didn’t even touch any of the fries, at all. The cherry on top of the night was when he stated how busy they were and tried sticking up for the manager and second ‘servers’ horrible customer service skills. If you tend to get that busy, maybe you should hire more staff members that are equipped to handle high pressure situations in the service industry.

Hands down, coolest thing about this place is the décor! Super high ceilings, guilded column topped pillars, dark green and burgundy paint that compliment the exposed brick and dark wood tables and walls which are adorned with a variety of scarves and other futbol paraphernalia… I could go on. It reminds me of the pubs in Ireland and Northern Ireland. I originally heard about this place from some friends during the World Cup. My husband and I recently moved to the area, and were looking for somewhere good for lunch at the end of a long day of painting. Admittedly, Three Lions was not our first choice, but it should have been!
We tried the mushrooms, pastrami sandwich with pub salad, and the shepards’ pie. We didn’t order beer, since my husband still had to go to work later, but next time for sure! The food was delicious! The pie was topped with cheese, which I haven’t seen done before. It was good though, as was the ranch dressing for the salad (sounds weird, but very few places have good ranch).
Three Lions has large windows, perfect for people watching on Colfax. And there are tables out front if you like to sit outside. There are also plenty of TVs inside to watch every game (or Sports Center), and a schedule of futbol matches. We’re so glad we stopped in! PS to Three Lions, encourage the taqueria across the street to have more Pinche company parties ;)
