The Governor Jack group premiered a new show, Late Night at 8 with host Tom Smaldone. This show is done on a talk show format featuring funny guests, games and crazy talents. It’s a comedy variety show. My guests and I laughed so hard, this show is a must see ! The Voodoo is a great venue to see up and coming comedy talent at an affordable price.

Great venue. Reasonable ticket pricing. No drink/item minimums. Decent value on the drinks. Good location. All this and comedy, improv, variety, etc. being offered on a regular basis? Hot damn! Check it out.

Awesome corporate outing event. Nick was great. Our team loved it and was talking about what they learned all the next week!

I’ve been to Voodoo quite a few times now, and Steve and the rest of the folks make it an excellent time. It’s as much like a family, a true club, as it is a theater or comedy venue. Some of the shows are by students of various levels, and it’s fun and satisfying to see them perform and work on their craft, as well as get better through time. Some of the shows are by master improvisors, comedians, and entertainers, and these are always hilarious. Support local entertainment. Support local comedy. Support local arts. Support the Voodoo Comedy Playhouse. Go, and go often.

My first time here was my birthday a few years ago. Makeshift Shakespeare was amazing and they even worked my name into the skit. I was the one who called out the theme«My Mustang is Awesome» and it is still my favorite improv skit that I’ve seen. Since then we have gone back probably 20 times for various birthdays and we always have such a a blast! The comedy is usually hysterical and even when it’s not we still have fun chatting with the players at the bar. Someday I hope to get the to go to the improv classes. Until then I’ll always be a loyal patron!

Too much fun! What a great fun place. They have a bar. I would give it 6 stats if I could! Thanks for being here to make us laugh!

I Like that the venue is small and in the ballpark area but the show was very meh bordering on dumb. I had the feeling that we were caught on a night that the classes were getting a chance to practice. Two of the players seemed to have some ability but I could tell that several were feeling lost. I won’t go back.

Awesome place if you enjoy improv comedy performed by people who love what they are doing. All the performers and employees have great attitudes and you can tell that they want you to have the best experience possible. I really enjoy the ke-mo-sah-bee show, it’s a competition between teams that the audience gets to vote for the winner at the end of the show and then all the teams do a scene together. Another plus is that unlike their main competitor(the bovine theatre) the voodoo has a full bar. The vibe is totally layed back and friendly.

This place was tiny– so tiny that you have to walk through the audience during a live performance to get to the bathroom… It is so awkward interrupting the audience and I’m sure the audience did not like it either. There was a battle between champions and new challengers. They gave us pieces of paper to vote in the very beginning– as an audience member, I’d prefer to receive the paper at the end so I don’t have to hold on to it during the whole show. I’ve been to a ton of improv shows and this did not compete. There were some funny parts here and there but none that made me rofl. However, because it was only $ 5 per person for an hour of mediocre entertainment, it gets 3 stars.

Okay, this review is coming to you from over a year and a half ago after actually seeing the show, so forgive me if my details are hazy. I believe that a friend of a friend acquired our tickets online with a discount which came out to ten or twenty dollars. There’s meter street parking and we paid for three hours. My friend was already buzzed when we got there around 8pm(don’t worry, someone else drove), but since I had just turned 21, he bought me my first alcoholic drink, which turned out to be a Long Island Iced Tea. Now, I lied slightly when I said it was my first drink because I had had a few Malibu 8oz cans on my 21st and a shot of something else I can’t remember, but hey, alcohol isn’t my thing, so I urged him not to waste his money. But he did and from the first sip, I knew that there was no way I was getting through a 24oz glass of this stuff(the bartender had absolutely packed on the alcohol, so you couldn’t even taste the Coke). I sipped it throughout the show, but in the end, my buzzed friend had to down it for me and suffered a severe hangover for it but I warned him… Anyway, to the show. I was naïve and had no idea what a burlesque show even was, so here I am, wondering what I’m going to see when«Oh, Yeah» comes up on the speakers and I see a woman dancing around the stage, slowly fighting to take her clothes off and I think – , «Oh, lord.» Yep, this was actually happening. I had a very PG-rated mind. I mean, I’m talking extra virgin olive oil, so to see this, it was a bit of a shock, but once I got into the groove of things, I was able to enjoy myself as around five gals came out to different 80s music(it was a theme night) and did their thing. At break, a rather raunchy comedian came out and since I was lucky enough to be sitting front row, dead center, I was the prime victim, but it was all in good fun. The second round of ladies came out and at the end, they all joined together to dance to the more modern, «Sexy and I Know It». Afterwards, they had karaōke, which was my cue to leave. Overall, I think that if I were to come back, I would enjoy it more since now I know what to expect, though the combination of alcohol and shock were big factors made the experience a bit adult, but you’ve gotta grow up sometime. I don’t know the lady’s name who ran the show, but she was an absolute sweetheart and helped me get over some of that shock when I told her I had no idea what to expect.

Always have a great time watching long form improv. Seems like they’ve been doing in a while because the misses are a lot less than the hits! These groups really do a good job of taking audience and have a good time with it.

Went on a Monday for open mic one out of every 5 was funny but most people left around 9:30 also no free pizza this time. Still not bad for a free comedy night.

This place has the kind of downtown, funky, cool and VERYWELCOMING vibe I love for a comedy club. We were welcomed by an ADORABLE lady who was actually in the 10 pm. Happy Hour show. She was funny, sweet and even grabbed us a treat that we were drooling over from the green room… shhhhh. There is no attitude here, just a group of creative people that like to have fun. I would absolutely go here again.

If you keep your expectations low, then you’ll be in for a treat. This little comedy club is blocks away from the rescue center, so it is a little shady in this part of the town. However, after we were able to find some street parking we went in. The stage area is small, but it was fine because you can pretty much get a good view anywhere you sit. They have a bar to order drinks. Sometimes after the shows, there is karaōke, which can be fun.

I do a little improv at home, and when on the road I thought it would be fun to see a show. They had a day when all their students performed and a lot of them were really good. I had to buy a ticket, but the good thing was there was no drink minimum like most places by me. If you know anything about improv, they perform Long Form. Which is improv for improvisers. People that have experience in improv like to see the long form. Most general audiences like a short for«Whose line is it anyways…» kinda thing. But they kept me entertained throughout the night.

I really don’t want to write this. But I must. I may. I will. I am. This place was not fun. I laughed, a little, very little. We went to Modern Dating: Unscripted! 3 Blind Dates. I was hoping. Really hoping. For a roll on the floor kind of laugh attack. It wasn’t. And it wasn’t just the show. It was the venue. Good part? Getting a beer at Happy Hour across the street at the Whiskey Bar before the show. Then the show… People walking in front of us to go to the restroom. Oh, the restroom is down the hall and around the corner near Biker Jim’s. Now the best part. Biker Jim’s is around the corner. After the show, they offered free admission to the next show… but after the paying people sat down. I wasn’t waiting… Especially for a seat watching people traipse to and from the restroom. Next time… a beer at Whiskey Bar and a laugh watching the silly patrons. Then a beer and dog at Biker Jim’s.

I love this little theater in the Ballpark Neighborhood. They have all kinds of shows here. While they tend to be Improv focused, they have Burlesque, Stand Up, Comedy Classes, Karaōke and more. We have always had a great time at the shows here. When you buy a ticket for one show of the night, you can stay and watch all the shows afterwards(assuming they haven’t sold out). Ticket prices here are very inexpensive, so it’s a great night out on the cheap. They have very reasonable rates for buying out an entire show. We bought out one Saturday night show for our MeetInDenver Holiday Party for under $ 200(theater holds 80 people), then stayed for Karaōke afterwards. It was a fantastic event. They have a full-bar, but do not serve food here, so we brought in dessert trays for our event. Because this is in the Ballpark Neighborhood, there are lots of inexpensive parking lots nearby($ 1 – 5) and street parking, on non-Rockies Game nights. Whiskey Bar is right across the street and The Lobby is right around the corner for pre-show cocktails and food.

We hit this place on a whim after deciding 30 minutes earlier that comedy would be a good way to kick off Saturday night. I was able to easily check out the evening’s lineup and buy tickets to The Chris Miller Show on my phone within a few minutes, +1 star for a well-designed mobile site. But I digress, on to the good stuff — Would definitely recommend The Chris Miller Show, the dude is funny as hell and he put together a solid lineup of other comics, some with Comedy Central cred. There were more than a few laugh till it hurt moments and some strange, what I would call ‘experimental’ comedy(dude read a modified adult version of Green Eggs and Ham called ‘Cocaine and Heroin’ with visual effects). The rest of the talent was more hit or miss for me but so it goes with comedy. The venue is small which I liked. The drinks were strong and inexpensive.

Small intimate venue for improv comedy. They played modest mouse music during intervention which I thought was cool. I came to see the Hit and Run Musical improv show. I thought that the cast were amazingly talented. Improv is already tough in my opinion but musical improv? I give them my respect for their mastery of singing while being funny all on the spot. The theme that the cast performed was«in jail without bail» which was suggested by an audience member. The other suggestion that someone made was thanks uncle harry but the audience voted on «in jail without bail.» The story was about a son who committed a crime long ago but was let loose by his judge father. The cold case got pulled up in the record when two police officers decided that they wanted more respect by solving an unsolved case. What’s cool about this place is that your ticket gets you into the next show as well. I also got to see a bit of the previous show which was titled Julius Caesar Salad. I got my tickets at a discounted price on Gold Star.

Voodoo is probably my favorite improv theater in Denver with the coolest vibe and atmosphere. It is very laid back, you have the bar upfront serving a variety of bottled beers and drinks, and the theater on the back. Once you pay for your ticket, you can see various shows, spend time in the bar, and there are no minimum drinks requirements or fixed seating. After the shows, you can stay for more drinks or kareoke. I’ve seen various shows and they’ve all been hillarious, and I love that is located in the Ballpark neighborhood
