All of the prices are erased from their whiteboard so it’s a mystery how much the items cost. I ordered a veggie burrito and Veronica said that it was $ 12.90??? I honestly thought she was joking at first. I’ve ordered carne asada, shrimp, etc. and it’s been $ 9 at the most. $ 12.90 for a veggie burrito! I live down the street, but I can tell you that Veronica has permanently lost my business. I’m going to stick to Tapatios in Alpine where they charge $ 5.50 for the same thing. Recommendation: Forget this place and go somewhere else.

Super friendly atmosphere. A nice stop over for a late breakfast. I asked for the egg, potato, cheese and carne asada burrito on corn tortillas(like tacos) and a side of their whole beans. It was all tasty and the beans where homemade, fresh, and pretty good! They were grilling the meat fresh outside. It was also not greasy. Prices were also reasonable and service prompt. Someone gave a two star review? I’d like to hear more of why as I don’t believe it. No reason that I could see. There was a steady flow of customers. And regulars.

Food was pretty good and the owners are really friendly. Food took a little longer than I thought it should be all in all not bad

This place is just good! The burritos, tacos, tortas, are delicious. They have a great variety of foods on the menu. Sandwiches and BBQ look amazing. It is obviously family run. I will say they are not the speediest, but good food made with love takes more time. There are so many other items I am waiting to try. I’ll definitely be back!

The food is excellent. The environment is horribly loud. The service is terrible. Only a valid choice if everything else is close or full

I am moving to the area & have eaten here 3 times now. While the place is not«high end» décor it is perfect for the community it is located in. I loved the green salsa & had probably the best shrimp burrito I have ever had here. The service was excellent & I will be back again for sure.

The food was okay but the thing that really got me was the price. I ask for a torta without any meat since I am vegeartian. Now get this the price of a Carne Asada total at the time was 8.99 $ the charged me 10.99. So they charged 2 dollars not to put meat on my torta and it is not like they put anything extra on it all it was, was at torta without meat. I mean come on I don’t mind paying the same 8.99 $ but charging more to just take off meat. I talked to the person and asked them why it’s more money and she said that’s the price and should wouldn’t even listen to me or adjust the price. I live near the resturant and since no one there was willing to listen to me I will no longer be eating at this establishment.

I came here after hiking 3 sisters falls as it was adjacent to the closest market. I ordered the Ribs and Chicken special which was decent. Their portion size was very generous as it also included corn, fries and baked beans. They also served homemade tortilla chips, fried to order, and salsa.

Had the shrimp burrito today about 10 hours ago, and now I have been throwing up for about an hour. The burrito was filled with rice, mayo, and a few shrimps. It was so-so. If I dont get better, I will go to the hospital, never again.

Stopped here on a motorcycle ride recently. The place is very quaint, what you would expect for Descanso. The menu wasn’t huge, but what they made was very tasty. I’ve seen some of the reviews knock the carne asada here, but they cook it outside on a real grill. Not many places I know do that. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, explaining some of the dishes I was unfamiliar with. They brought out complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were almost too hot to touch at first, but you can’t complain about something being made fresh for you! The salsa was wonderful and clearly made there on site. Our burritos came out quickly and tasted delicious. They also have fountain drinks, with one free refill, so if you are out in the heat, know that you can get more than a little can of soda without having to pay for multiple drinks. I will be back next time I am out this way.

After hiking Eagle Peak near 3 sisters I decided to stop and grab a drink at the connivence store next door but just as I was about to walk in I saw this place next door. I had a great Carna Asada burrito, a Negro Modelo served with great chips and salsa. The family that is running this place is really nice.

Yes this is a hole in the wall. However it’s pretty good considering it’s in the middle of nowhere. After my hike, I was starving and needed food ASAP. This was the only option, but we’re glad we stopped here. I ordered a pollo asado burrito it was okay it wasn’t excellent but it was decent. For the price I expected more. The best The best part was the salsa, guacamole, both very fresh. The chile relleno was amazing my mom ordered this and it was as good or better then her food. My moms food is amazing. Her plate was huge. The kids chicken fingers were okay not bad but again my son was starving too so they tasted amazing the only thing they could’ve done better was probably the french fries they were little just generic and defectively meh. Sad that others rated this place low. At least try the Chile Relleno.

I live in the area and while the staff is friendly and helpful the food is ok. I think the place needs a bit of a makeover or deep clean. Also a fresh salsa bar would be nice. It’s good for kids because they are so helpful and don’t make you feel bad for leaving a mess, and even have given chocolates to the kids and free juice. that does mean alot to me and its a local place so it’s important to spend money here. But like other small towns they know there isn’t a lot of competition. However it is FARbetter than the junction. I have eaten there twice and that place is dirty, annoying staff and food like fake eggs are just unacceptable.

An East County winner and overall 4.5. Service: 5; friendly staff: 5; great hours: 5; nice menu and daily specials: 5; service: 4.5. There are some misses on the menu and good days & bad days on the food. Overall, food is 3.5 to 4. But, heck, even though it is only 45min from San Diego, there is nothing else out here. I keep coming back, because, the service is good, staff is nice, food is just fine, relaxing patio, and, big picture, the place is pretty cool. Veronica’s really does a fine job. Open air smoking patio is nice. When driving west into SDGO on I-8 it is one of the last nice, quiet, and simple places to stop before the SDGO metropolis starts.

Was not really interested in «eating here» based on the look of the place. The«pay(1) quarter per restroom visit» didn’t help much either. Anyway, it’s a small place to grab a quick bite or beer. We stopped in because it’s the closest restaurant/place near 3 Sisters Falls to go to restroom. I’d stick to the attached convenience store for food & drink. Actually, this may all explain the«quarter machine» on restroom door lol. I give this tiny kitchen 5 «Well played Veronica’s Kitchen, well played» out of 10.

We were really disappointed today with Veronica’s. My family lives up in the Descanso area and they said I really needed to try the food. They said that, but then they gave me one suggestion which was to not order carne asada. I was like, WHAT? That is pretty much my staple Mexican food item… a carne asada burrito. So, stupid me, I ordered what I wanted… a carne asada burrito. It was gross. Obviously the meat was from Friday or Saturday… absolutely it wasn’t from today(Sunday). The meat was cut up really small, and was burnt to a crisp. I was totally annoyed. I have never seen a Mexican place screw up carne asada. And, for the cooks to allow that kind of meat to leave the place is either because they don’t give a crap, OR, the owners don’t allow the meat to be tossed when it has been burned, and they allow it to be served. I am really perplexed how a place like this opens, and they get away with serving this kind of stuff. How do they expect to stay in business. I won’t go back, and they are the ONLY place to eat other than the Descanso Junction down the street. Embarrassing. I didn’t meet the owners. I don’t care if they are nice people. I hope they are and I hope they somehow ultimately succeed. But rather than me driving to their restaurant a second time to explain the problem and argue for a refund, I would rather just put it here on Unilocal.Good businesses deserve excellent results. Bad ones need to fix their issues, or go away. Sorry Veronica’s. Fix it. READYOURREVIEWSHERE! THEYAREWRITTENBYPEOPLETHATBUYFOOD. MAKEYOURFOODWORTHBUYING.

I would have thought they would have made authentic Mexican food, being that it wasn’t too far from Mexico. But apparently, even Mexican people can fuck up a carne asada burrito. How hard is it to make a simple carne asada burrito. SEASONEDMEAT, SALSAFRESCAANDGUACAMOLE. THATISIT! DONE. THEEND. Where did you get the idea to put parmesean cheese in the burritos? Put that shit away. My burrito tasted like shit. However, ONE star for good salsa and fresh chips.

We stopped in this newly opened place for a bite to eat. We ordered a Ham and Cheese Torta and it was good along with some nice hot onion rings. Fresh ham and a good Torta roll. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The place was clean and the menu had a nice variety. We will stop in here again. Veronica was a delight to talk with.
