1 star for having cold beer. Everything els was horrible. The service, the food, me and my family were very disappointed. I ordered chile verde for my wife… they brought chile reyenos. My 7 year old daughter ordered a chicken quesedilla which was on the childs menu and she received a adult quesedilla that was gross. The chicken tasted old. I ordered steak n shrimp and got small cuts of steak that had no flavor and stale shrimp. And we didnt get our tortillas till we were half way done with our food. The server was really confused. She came to our table about 3 times to ask about our order and still made mistakes! And the food was not authentic! Never again. BEWARE

The tacos are out of this world, real authentic Mexican tacos(I haven’t had any this good since I visited Mexico City) and the woman who served us was very sweet and homely. My boyfriend and I just stopped next to the freeway and this was the first Mexican restaurant we saw; I wish I lived near here so I could get their tacos more often!

You know, for the middle of bum no where they got my seal of approval. I ordered Mrs Salad, I liked the fresh herbs and the fact that there was no dressing. Hubby had the special, said it was good but not great. We ordered the kid’s bean and cheese burrito which was way too big. I asked for a spicier salsa and was not disappointed with the heat.

Living in the Sacramento region and having friends, family and occasionally work in the Bay Area I drive Hwy 80 at least once a month. Every time I pass Mr. Taco I debate stopping and today was the day for a visit. This is a small 15 table establishment with a small amount of décor and a TV tuned to a Spanish speaking station. It screams mom and pop. They have all the Mexican standards that you would expect but with a name like Mr. Taco I had to go taco. Lots of meat choices to chose from(carne asada, al pastor, carnitas, chicken, Molina, machaca, etc.). Tried the carne asada, al pastor and carnitas. They are served street taco style with warm flour tortillas, cilantro, onion and a salsa verde. The al pastor finished third as it was pretty low on the flavor spectrum. The asada was cooked nice and tender and really worked with the salsa verde. The carnitas were quite good. The carnitas were nice and smoky and were cooked with grilled onions that kicked it up a notch. The servings for all three tacos were generous. The tacos are $ 2.50 each. Overall, a solid joint that is pretty easy on the wallet.

If you’re Mexican and know great Mexican food you will know Mr. Taco has horrible food! The tacos de lengua were the worst I’ve seen! The meat was mostly fat and was super greasy! Lengua should not be greasy at all. My grilled chicken torta was so bland. Had no flavor even after I put tons of salsa on it. My mom said her birria didn’t even taste like birria, no flavor at all, couldn’t even taste any of the spices it’s supposed to be made with. My sister said the only good thing was her beer because it wasn’t from there.lol. Will definitely NEVER be coming back again!!!

Tacos– MUCHBETTER. Probably a better choice to get TACOS at MR. TACO’s. Specials can be worth it with rice, beans and a drink along with your meal. Complimentary chips and salsa are good, but they gave me wussy salsa. Had to ask for spicier stuff. With tax, my 3 tacos, rice, beans and a Coca-Cola were $ 10.75.

Ok service, decent prices, but horrible food. How does a Mexican resturant mess up mexican food? Sopes are supposed to be fried. My masa was barley cooked, my soda that doesn’t get a refill wqs full of ice all the way to the top, and the food is so bland. Will not be coming back. Oh and to top it off, I asked for no pico, and guess what? It came out with pico. When I sent it back, they brought them right back out within 1 minute. All they did was pick it off. I’ll be telling everyone I know not to come here, taco bell puts this place to shame lol

Great food nice atmosphere nice people The sodas are expensive for not having refills and you only get one basket of chips or have to pay an extra 250. Other than that everything was great

over priced — over hyped. The chicken was disgusting and I am not even sure it was chicken !?! I I ordered a corona mechelada en vaso and I am sure they gave me a watered down bud light mechelada. Never again !!!

Rude guy, loud TV in spanish… boo! Went in for lunch for the first time. I glanced over the menu and ordered a carne asada torta… $ 6.99 plus a coke. Was served chips and salsa and a soda filled to the top with ice. My buddy ordered the same and we were served chips and salsa. Torta was bland so was the salsa. I got a refill on my soda and chips and salsa. When I went to pay my total was $ 14. I said wait… torta and soda shouldn’t be more then $ 9 – 10. He said they charge for soda refills and chip refills. WOW! Why didn’t you tell me that??? He said it’s on the menu… LOL…never again

My daughter and I stopped here on our way to Reno. It was a convenient pit stop. The service was good, the restaurant was clean enough. Food was okay. I got the carnitas burrito and it was very plain; rice, beans, and meat. It was large, but pretty dry. The«super» has sour cream I believe. My daughter had the vegetarian burrito which had lettuce instead of meat. Again, plain and dry. She had ordered it specifically with guacamole, but we didn’t see any in the burrito… Better than Taco Bell and not crowded.

I have visited Mr. Taco twice in the last month, and have come to the conclusion that it is the worst Mexican food I have ever had. On the fist trip I ordered the grilled chicken super burrito to go, the chicken had no flavor and felt like it had been boiled. The second time I was passing through Dixon and decided to give them a second chance, maybe they just dont know how to grill chicken. So this time I ordered up the carne asada plate. The guy asked me if I wanted Jalapenos with it, and I said no thanks. I then asked what it came with and he said avocado and onion. Five minutes later I received a plate with rice, beans, and some dry steak that looked like it had been heated up in the microwave 5 days in a row. WTF? The meat looked like it had been cut up by a first grader, and had veins running through most pieces. It had absolutely no flavor, I could have ripped my leather belt off and chewed on that! I am not much of a complainer, and I was hungry so I ate the food and went to pay, I was greeted with a $ 17 bill. What a joke, $ 17 for a soda and a some dry tasteless carne asada. I should have known better then to eat here again, second time I walked in and was the only person in this place!!!

Had a so-so beef taco, and a cheese enchilada with a really sweet sauce that made me gag. Why would they make it so sweet? While the refried beans were good, they were likely from a can. And the rice was ok, but on the dry side. Even the chips that were provided were flavorless.

We stop here for dinner almost every time we pass by. This is a quiet family-run restaurant. Nothing fancy. Good food, happy people. Definitely worth a visit. Try the ca marines a la diabla!

So many Mexican restaurants to choose from. There are four in Dixon that I know of: This next one next to the highway. Lupitas a little further in. One next to home town market. The one on main street. My ranking: Lupitas Mr. Taco Main street Home town market But the overall winner is definitely El Tejaban in Vacaville. Not just for the salsa bar, but for the excellent burritos and consistency. Mr. Taco is a little unique in that they offer ground beef as a meat option

Mr. Taco, you’ve come a long way since the orange colored stand right off the West A Street exit on the 80 in Dixon. I like the new location in the strip mall near the gas stations. The interior is clean and decorated well and the service is great. The food would merit 4 stars if they were at their old orange location. The food for a taqueria-like diner in a strip mall is very average. The service is pretty good, though. We started with a basket of chips and three salsas — a red, green, and pico. Those were pretty good and the server was attentive and refilled our chip basket promptly. Bf ordered a taco/enchilada plate and I had the special of the day, which was a pork tamale. Bf’s taco had some juicy carne asada and a good amount of spice. I didn’t taste the enchilada but, he was OK with it. My pork tamale had a good zing to the sauce and it wasn’t overly spicy. The pork was a little dry but, it was edible. The rice and beans that came with our plates were standard — not really worth commenting on expect that it comes with the lunch plate. I like this place — it’s a nice pit stop during a road trip on the 80. It beats the local fast food places any day.

I stopped by here because a friend of mine LOVES this place. It was good, but I think that I ordered the wrong thing. I think that I should have gone with a meal rather than a burrito. My burrito was good, not great – and the main issue for me was that the default beans in a burrito here is refried. I prefer whole or black beans and forgot to specify. My friend ordered a tamale and a chili relleno and they were both excellent. The relleno was one of the best I have tasted in a long time and when I come back that is what I will order. It was a perfect balance of cheese, to pepper, to coating. All in all, I think this is probably more of a 4 star place for main dishes, and a 3 star place for burritos… and I had to give 3 stars because of my order. I will update next time I stop because I will be coming back.
