Honestly, I am completely dumbfounded but the negative review of this place… When I first entered the service(2000), another establishment was in operation. They specialized primarily steaks and other«meat intensive» foods. Although the meals were great, the atmosphere was subpar. River Rock Grill successfully steps it up a notch with a refined atmosphere and revised menu. Honestly, I would be hard pressed to think of a restaurant in the area that offers a better view… On top of that, since it is a few miles off of post, it is absent of the typical basic training/AIT crowd that dominates most establishments in the FLW area… On a recent visit, my friends and I ended up going with some burgers, italian chips, and side salads and couldn’t have been happier.(I would strongly advise adding their grilled peppers if going with a pepperjack burger.) Not only is their food great but so are their drinks! I loved the«Buffalo Sweat» on tap! After a couple of those, I opted for a mixed drink… Thankfully their bar tender poured a ridiculously generous Bombay and Tonic that helped assuage the worries of my day. A word of caution: If going for mixed drinks, I would limit it to «one» or have access to a designated driver :) Two thumbs up. Well done River Rock…

Horrible food and even worse service! I regret taking my wife there for Valentine’s day, our appetizer was watered down mushrooms with cheese(the sliced veggies served with it were tasty enough). My black and bleu(substituted feta cheese for the bleu) steak was so overpowered by the SALTY rub that I couldn’t even eat it. My wife’s lobster and seafood Alfredo had a bland(almost like skim milk) sauce and the lobster was overcooked and chewy. They did have some good beer on tap and the bartender made my wife a nice(house made) raspberry Shock Top. Will we ever be back… not even if it was free! The manager was being«generous» by taking $ 10 off my $ 21 steak that I literally ate two bites of. Stay away! There are plenty of other good restaurants in the Fort Leonard Wood area.
