We stopped by here last night. We had driven past many times and decided to give it a try. I am glad we did because this place is right up our alley. So the ambiance is awesome! They had a fire going in the«tap room» which is actually a small barn the built. The tables are all wood and the seats are hey-bales. The hop farm is right behind the tap room. The 2 women who work there/run the tap room and farm(I am not sure if they may be co-owners) and really friendly and help you feel right at home there. The beer was spot on here as well. I ordered a flight of there 3 beers and 1 Barley wine on draft. I am not a big barley wine person but it wasn’t bad. The beers were great. I had a hard time deciding between the Black ipa and Kolsch and the Frank j. I ultimately went with the black ipa. There is no food but they said they either have a food truck or a local restaurant will deliver. I would strongly recommend this place a stop for a pint or two.

Brought dinner out here for a beer– looks like they’ve upgraded this place a bit! 1) it’s covered now. 2) because it’s covered, they have lighting from the ceiling 3) sitting next to an open fire is lovely Prices are $ 5/glass and $ 10/flight of four. The darkness of the surrounding areas at night may be a little difficult to navigate at first, but it’s really not too much. The freeway is right there, but its noise is blocked when imbibing your beverage.

This place is adorable, just what you need to watch the sunset, get out of town, play some good olé fashioned board games, spend time with friends, or all of the above! We had a big crew come out from Davis(EASY6MIBIKERIDEFROMCAMPUS!) Bring your own games if you’re serious about playing, otherwise they have a bunch of grab bag games. PROS: very simple business, pretty views, good beer, cheap prices($ 5 a pint?), kind staff, quiet area CONS: not a ton of variety in beers, games are missing pieces

I was really hoping for a decent beer in a casual atmosphere. It was as casual as it gets but the beer was mediocre and overpriced. I live about 5 miles from there but won’t be wasting my time going back. I can get better service and better beer and sit at the parking lot of the 7 – 11 and get the same experience with less carbon monoxide.

Nice spot to stop to get out of traffic for a minute. The staff is awesome and will answer any questions about their beer. Since they grow hops they focus on IPA beers. I’m not much of an IPA fan but I like the Capn and the 1881. I have been here about a dozen times now and never disappointed. The outdoor atmosphere is inviting not like most breweries, it is easy to get into conversations with people. They usually only have 4 to 5 beers on tap but you can buy most anything they make from a bottle there as well. I would have given more stars but the beer is a little pricey for my taste and I haven’t seen any specials or deals for regulars and they are only open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Rode our bikes here through Davis-Dixon countryside and was pleasantly welcomed to this chill drinking hole. It’s literally next to a freeway interchange that doesn’t have much else around, so it can easily be missed. Funny how well a bunch of hay bales and portable shipping containers do. It was such a joy and so relaxing to be out in a field sipping fine, cold beer. I enjoyed the Test IPA, which they are now on their 7th revision. The barlywine was actually very tame. I liked The Sauce the most, which was a coffee porter. I also had the kolsch, which was just okay. You’re free to bring your own picnic lunch, pets, and board games. They also have darts, cornhole toss, and horseshoe toss too. Restroom is just a porta potty, but was not smelly at all. Most impressive.

Our favorite spot in the Vacaville/Davis area! Such a cool spot. It’s all outdoors but a really awesome set up with amazing beer. The company & music is always on point– we make it a goal to get here every other Sunday! CHEERS!

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. This is such a relaxing and chill place to spend a couple hours drinking some great local beers. we brought a picnic and had a awesome time. This place is VERY family friendly, but its easy to find a tucked away spot from the terrorizing munchkins. Lots of fun yard games like darts, horseshoes, and cornhole. There was also a ADORABLE dog running around the property named Negro, he was a great ambassador. :)

We hosted our daughters wedding here in June and everything was perfect. The environment was casual and exactly what we were looking for — like having a wedding in your own back yard, only way better. Better because my backyard doesn’t come with a staff or an amazing sunset view of the foothills. Or a brewery. Melissa was by my side through the entire planning process and never allowed me to forget single detail(seriously… the morning of, she sent me a text to remind me to bring sunscreen). Everything was comfortable and clean, the beer was… well, it’s Ruhstaller, so you already know it was good, and the bar staff worked like mad to make everything perfect! Everything was so easy and seamless, it was like not even being at a wedding, but at a big party with all the people you love. I wouldn’t get married again if my life depended on it — but if I did, I’d want to do it here and with Melissa as my wedding coordinator!

Awesome little tap room. Great beer, funky atmosphere and the perfect place to stop off of 80 when weekend traffic has got you down!

Ruhstaller is a classic case of the cart leading the horse. They are so invested in the«Ruhstaller» image that they forget about what really matters, which is good beer. The predominant flavor of their beer is skunk. Everything is thin, flavorless, and overpriced. The girl working the bar didn’t have singles or the common sense to break my bill from their tip jar. I should not have tipped after her description of their lager being«very sweet, so just like a Pilsner.» You’re killing me doll. They claim to be a local brewery despite contract brewing in San Jose. They claim to grow their own hops despite there only being enough there to brew a single batch. Enough is enough, we get it, your brand is rad and the most Sacramento thing ever.

I have grown to love this awesome tap room located off I80 in Dixon. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing. The beertender is affectionately named XO. Kisses and hugs? You spend any time talking with her and watching how she interacts with all of us you will understand what I mean. She is so easy to talk to. So very nice and welcoming. She also knows her beer !! I have met so many nice people each and every time I stop. Bring the dogs ! Bring your hyper kids and let them run around the hop fields. Throw some darts, eat some awesome peanuts, listen to some good tunes, throw some horseshoes, or corn hole, or just take in the sky and sunset. You will learn to love this special little place in Podunk Dixon too

Had a great time stopping off here on our drive back to SF after 4th of July. The people couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating to us and the two 2 dogs we had in tow. We brought snacks and ate, drank, played cornhole and watched the amazing sunset. I’m not typically an IPA drinker but I really enjoyed theirs. Seemed to be milder than most, and delicious. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area!

Came here with gf and 2 friends(diz and Whitt) on a hot summer day. It’s a fun day trip when you’re in the mood for a beer and some sun while sitting on some hay. The bartender was nice. So were the locals we met and played Jenga with. Also cool that they have a taco truck right outside.

Nice place to stop for a cold one. Good beer, dog friendly, good tunes(I don’t know if they ever have live music here, but it would be perfect for that), friendly folks. The seating is hay bales(as it is a farm), there is a dartboard, games and tasty peanuts. We enjoyed riding there on our bikes. Cheers!

Probably a bit generous with the rating as the beer is not my favorite, but this is the only place in Dixon where you can actually drink local brew so it’s deserving. The concept is actually pretty cool, after all this is a hop farm and basics such as power and water are not readily available. This is partly why I loved Ruhstaller’s Farm & Yard… even a small simple tap room such as this requires so much more work out here. They are only open Fridays and Saturdays, weather permitting, and have about 5 taps and some bottles ready for tasting. The seating is bales of hay with couple of large tables which makes it ideal for country picnics. Ruhstaller Farm & Yard taproom is dog friendly and they even have dog treats available for purchase. If you have kids they can just roam around or play darts, corn hole or a board game. All-in-all there is something for everyone. As for what is lacking is more shade… Once summer hits, it will not be pleasant to sit on hay, exposed to scorching triple digit heat. Hopefully something can be done about it sooner than later. And for the most important thing: the beer. Not bad, but clearly not my favorite. Three out of 5 taps were varieties of red and very samey. They did not have a classic IPA, so the hoppiest beer on tap was Capt.(Black IPA). If you gravitate towards malty and balanced, more than bitter and hoppy, you would probably like Ruhstaller’s brews much better than I. The flights of 4 are $ 10 and you can add additional samplers for $ 2.50. Current seasonal is the Kolsch, pretty well done for the style which is(unfortunately) not on top of my list, but does just fine on a hot day. Maybe if the pours were slightly larger and there was more variety, I’d be a happier camper. While I don’t see myself coming here every weekend, the location and proximity to I-80 are sure factors that I will come back… and so will all the Bay Area residents looking for something a bit different on their way back from Tahoe.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here but I will definitely stop by for a beer when I pass through. This is a perfect place to enjoy a beer and catch a sunset. The beer is pretty decent.

I helped them build their hop farm and received a single 22oz bottle of their beer as payment. Yes, one bottle of mediocre, overpriced beer. They play on the«Sacramento» theme, yet they outsource their brewing processes to a company in the bay area. That is a fine business practice, but don’t be fooled: this is not a Sacramento brewery. Enjoy one of the other local breweries here in Sacramento who do not try to intentionally deceive their customers.
