Terrible. Brought a pair of custom Italian boots to be resoled and he ruined the boot. Cut the leather sole in half and left nails sticking out and right through the ball of the foot.

I brought in a pair of sandals to be re-soled. The sign in front of the desk states«100% cash deposit upon leaving your shoes». We gave the man $ 40, which he said was the full cost for the work, he gave us our ticket, and we left. Well, foolish us, as we did not look at the ticket which said that we deposited $ 20, not $ 40. When I returned to pick up my shoes, the man asked me for $ 20. I told him that I was sure we paid the full amount, but feeling somewhat intimated, I gave him the 20 and left. I spoke to my husband, who was 110% positive we gave him the full amount. So I went back, and I told him that we absolutely paid him the full amount a week ago, and he began screaming and raging at me, saying that I was lying and why would he have written $ 20 on the ticket if we had given him $ 40. I stayed calm, suggesting that perhaps he made a mistake, as the store was busy at the time. He again raged at me. I told him that we had just moved to Dobbs Ferry, wanted to patronize a local store, but I would report him to the BBB if he did not return my 20. He then went to the cash register and took out a 10, which he threw at me. I refused to take it, at which point he threw me a 20, still raging. Needless to say I will not patronize this shop again.

Convenience brought me to Valentino as I needed to drop off shoes before the train ride into the city. I brought in a pair of boots that I wear almost daily. The heels(they’re flats, about an inch if even) had started to crack so I wanted them replaced. The heels cost about as much as the shoes themselves but it if works, it’d be worth it. Too bad a week later the heels started coming apart and the shoes were leaking suddenly. I brought them back and he redid the heels for free. Two weeks after that I was wearing the boots on a trip to Chicago. One slight turn on the heel and the whole thing fell out. I spent my Saturday night hammering a heel back in and cautiously walking back to my apartment. Valentino has no idea what he’s doing. The quality is crap, they’re rude and overpriced. STAYFARAWAY.

I had a terrible experience at this shoe repair place(next to the ice cream/pizza parlor in Dobbs). I took several pairs of shoes/boots here based on 3 recommendations. One pair was BRANDNEW J. Crew boots that needed only waterproofing. The boots came distressed and were intended to look old. When I took the boots in and asked for waterproofing, the repair shop owner asked if the boots were new and I said, «Yes. Brand new.» But when I went to pick the boots up, the owner had polished them to make them look deep black instead of distressed, as they were intended. I was so upset I started crying. He told me he usually writes on the ticket if he should not polish/only waterproof, but didn’t this time. He angrily said he would reimburse me, but would not give me my boots back and made me sign a ticket saying I «will not complain again.» Am I in kindergarten? Then he threw the new boots in the GARBAGE! In this economy with so many people struggling to eat and clothe their families, I find that behavior unthinkable. I said I would take the boots to donate them, and he would not give them to me. Please do not patronize this shop!
