Maison Gourmet Miami

I tried this place due to a Unilocal deal. Everything we tried was sweet. The French onion soup, the curry coconut crêpe, and the salad dressing. The fried onions on the French onion soup seemed to have been pre fried and the were not crunchy at all. The service was pretty good but we were the only ones there at about 7:25pm. I guess they must be busy at lunch time since they are closed on the weekend unless you make reservations for a group. I think they are too expensive for weekday for what you get. I was not impressed and will not be back.

Awesome French Onion Soup!

Yep. It is in a strip mall same as other places I’ve been but the prices are good. I had the onion soup because of the raves of fellow Unilocalers.
I also had the goat cheese bricks, a thin pastry filled with basil pesto, goat cheese and honey. My waitress brought nice warm bread with a basil garlic pesto/​oil. The soup was heaven– the broth flavorful and a little sweet. I’m full and my tapas isn’t here yet! The service is grand and I do enjoy being catered to.
They are changing their menu up a bit to be more Meditaranian because strictly french did not go over well in this area.

This place is hidden in a strip mall in the corner. The sign is missing some letters at night lol broken lights. Too me its ok. The French onion soup was a delish but the pasta i had was bland and just heavy… Hench y i cant remember the name. Overall eh. its just ok.

We had been at the strip mall for another reason and were starving so we decided to stop by and have a bite. I had read the reviews recently and thought it was going to be the perfect place to enjoy a great meal. My fingers were crossed hoping that the owners of the great French place in Miami Springs had relocated here since the Maison in Springs closed. They were a wonderful French couple and we were sad to see the restaurant close down. Alas, they aren’t. As a matter of fact, the restaurant is not French run or owned from what we could see.
It was later in the afternoon, post lunch and pre dinner. There was only one more table with two gentlemen who were having a conversation and a bottle of whiskey.
There was an attempt to make it look like a French Café, it was a good attempt, its quaint but not very elegant which is good because we were underdressed for a nice restaurant. We were greeted incredibly warmly, by the attendant at the cashier. Our service for the rest of the meal was warm and she was very sweet.
As for the food, looking over the menu it seemed that there was an identity crisis as things such as Tequenos, Croquetas and Italian style pastas were on the menu. More than on the menu on the website which has less items then the menu in the restaurant.
Huge plus, today was buy a Crêpe, get one free. We had been hoping for Quiche, but since it was not on the menu we chose the Crêpe option.
I had the Smoked salmon with Dill sauce and my daughter ordered the Goat Cheese with Tomatoes. Honestly? Neither of us were as impressed as everyone else seems to have been with the food. The Crepes were more like pancakes in taste, texture and they were too thick. Mine had too much sauce, too little Salmon. Hers had some Goat Cheese spread on it and a very thin layer of tomatoes. Both of us had bites that had nothing but pancake. The salad was ok, however it was very small, done in two bites.
We were still a bit hungry when we were done so we ordered a Pear Tarte. It was completely off the mark, the pear tasted almost candied, it was SO sweet the tarte was wet almost saucy and not compact. It came with vanilla ice cream which is not what one expects in a French Restaurant.
In all fairness we didn’t have the Soup everyone is raving about, maybe we would have a different opinion, and will definitely try it next time we come.
(Before anyone wants to tell me I don’t know what I am talking about, we have been many times to France — check out my list — I cook one of the most authentic Crepes you can find on this side of the ocean, since I am OCD about recreating recipes that I love)

Service is perfect.
A little pricy but with a wine on special the price is right.
Place is classy inside.
Food is all delicious (also recommend the spinach croquetas).
I will return to say more… I was mostly happy having dinner with my mother and did not pay attention to every detail of the place.

Went there once, overrated. Just an ok meal. Dont see it being more than 3 stars. Service could improve… Expect South Beach pricing in a strip mall.

I read about this place through Unilocal,and I am very thankful I went. Despite my lack of appreciation for most things french, I like food… french people make food… therefore, I ate french food.
I had to eat something a little french so I ordered the escargot (snails) covered in homemade garlic parsley sauce. (Bad joke alert) I know snails are typically slow, but they went fast at this brunch!
The onion soup was definitely awesome if you like regular onion soup. I for some reason was under the impression that the world revolves around me and the soup would be creamy… I was incorrect. Nevertheless, very tasty soup.
I enjoyed the SAUMON CREPE with a delicious smoked salmon and an AMAZING dill cream cheese sauce (this isn’t cream cheese and it isn’t dressing. It’s a hybrid of both!)
For dessert I enjoyed the ridiculously delicious if you like banana, Banane Tatin.
This is a must do for brunch kind of place.

We just had a lovely meal at this secret gem. Honestly, you wouldn’t believe it is located in a tiny corner of a strip shopping center between a Brazilian restaurant and an all you can eat establishment. It’s an authentic slice of France in the most surprising place. The corvina was superb, my companion had the filet mignon well done (and didn’t have to ask for the meat to be returned to the kitchen until it was no longer pink or red!) The hot rolls with pesto were great starters, the salad dressing was perfect and the cappuccinos brought back memories of our Italian vacation. The décor and music were French and you can buy cheeses, wines, and other French products. We took home two croissants for tomorrow’s breakfast. Lovely! We were told that on Friday nights they have live saxophone music.

Our meal was alright, nothing to marvel over. The salad was way too salty to enjoy or even finish for that matter, and the soup felt like it was missing something. The service, on the other hand, couldn’t have been better. The lady was very pleasant.

Maison Gourmet features classic French cuisine in a stunning little venue in the heart of Doral. Real imported french cheese, fresh baguettes, fine french wines, crepes, and a wide selection of french dishes. Maison Gourmet is a good choice for all gourmets without breaking our wallets, plus is the perfect venue for corporate events. Worth a try!

Really great hidden gem. This little bistro oozes charm and for the level of cuisine you’re getting, you really can’t beat the prices. The bottles of wine are even almost at cost.
The charm is what really sells it to my girlfriend and I.

Came upon this great little bistro thanks to Groupon, and so glad that I did! The restaurant is very unassuming. It is located in a large strip mall in Doral, but once you’re inside the atmosphere is fantastic. It’s small, but warm and inviting. Plus, the service was great which is very important in my book!
Now for the food, everything we had was delicious! We started with lattes and a chocolate croissant which was warm and flaky perfection. Next we had the chicken crêpe and croque madame. Both were wonderful! The crêpe was served with a small salad garnished with candied walnuts and a really good vinaigrette. For dessert we had the crêpe suzette which was awesome! We washed everything down with pink lemonade and pomegranate Lorinas, which were the perfect accompaniment to this fantastic French meal.
Needless to say, we will be back for more!

Great little place, hidden in a corner. Had it not been for Groupon, I wouldn’t have ever found this place… and I didn’t even buy the Groupon!
Has a large selection of sandwiches, salads and full meals. I had a prosciutto sandwich and my husband had the roast beef… we went in and took the order to go, but there is plenty of space to sit down and take your time. It is a little pricey, but well worth it.

If there was ever a place to fit into the old «don’t judge a book by its cover» saying, it’s this place. It’s very quaint, located in a strip mall, and not very impressive from the outside. In fact, it is a hole in the wall and looks like a small cafeteria/​market tucked in between some bigger establishments, one of which seemed to be the life of the party judging by its loud music.
I saw the LivingSocial deal pop up in my email and although Miami’s over-​saturated with Italian, Chinese, and Latin cuisine, the French cuisine definitely caught my eye as being unusual, so I decided to purchase it. I knew it was a bit out of the way for me since I live in the Edgewater district, but figured it was exotic enough to warrant the drive — it’s not every day that Groupon, LivingSocial or Amazon deals has discounts for a French restaurant, after all. Unfortunately, getting there was a nightmare, thanks to a certain someone who provided me with the craziest driving directions ever (thanks, Google Navigation!), so that I ended up in the middle of nowhere, literally.
Yes, I ended up by the Everglades. It was so dark, and empty, I thought some freak would jump out in front of my car at any minute, or at least, a big animal (alligator, anyone?). I ended up on a dirt, rocky road that extended endlessly with forest on either side. There were ATVs, and then they were gone and the place was deserted once again in total darkness. At one point, I saw a pickup truck, but no one in a coupe like me. The ATVs slowed down, probably wondering what the hell I was doing to my suspension, but I was assured by Google Nav that this dirt road was going to disappear in 0.5 miles and I’d be back out of the rural wilderness. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. I kept driving, and driving, and driving. After hearing a «what was that fireball rising from the ground?» from 2 passengers, I started losing it and turned around immediately even though it seemed like I would never reach the point where I had started. Finally, I got us back into civilization and decided to pull out my old Garmin, which led us back to safety, thank goodness. Crazy Friday night, I tell ya!
We finally made it, although with only half an hour before closing time. We ordered 4 different items: the salmon carpaccio, the onion soup, the tuna (Thon grillé sauce au poivre), and the corvina (Corvina Meunière), which I review below (pictures are also included).
To drink, I got a Pomegranate Blueberry lemonade, which was a sparkling drink, and very unusual, called Lorina. It’s a premium drink and unlike anything I had ever tasted. Delicious! The onion soup was tasty, with some crispy fried onions and a thick layer of cheese. I liked it, but I do think that the small portion did not justify the $ 9 price tag. The salmon carpaccio was good, I was told. The tuna was light and fresh, with a sauce that had fresh peppercorns, asparagus, and potatoes. The potatoes were a bit bland, because they were just boiled and that’s it. Maybe if they had poured some of the same sauce on them before serving, it would have been better. The corvina was also fresh, and I think I preferred the corvina over the tuna. It came in a butter sauce with asparagus and potatoes as well. For desert, we settled on chocolate mousse, which was delicious, and I found myself fighting over it with others.
The staff was friendly, although I think that their menu is more on the casual side, considering the amount of sandwiches and salads. It strikes me more of a lunch place than a dinner place. The ambiance wasn’t the best, because we were the only ones and we felt like everyone in the kitchen was just staring at us, and our view was just of a parking lot. I don’t think they even had music, and like other reviewers before me have said, the restaurant was stocked with just shelves and fridges full of cheeses and prepared meals. We got a card from them that allows us to get a free lunch after 7 punches on the card (they gave us 2 for our meal), but it’s only good Monday-​Friday, for lunch. I don’t live or work near the Doral area so to me, the card is useless, but for others who live near here, this may be enticing and enough of a reason to become a frequent customer.

Small Bistro. Always very good. The Classic French Onion Soup is the best. Great service.

Found this little quaint french restaurant in Doral bc of a groupon. So i deided to go the first i got it, What a treat, the atmosphere is great, the service was superb and the food is amazing. If you are big on food and come hungry you may need to order two plates.
I had the chicken crêpe thats comes with a tiny side salad with great vinagrette which was delicious and my hubby had a baguette sandwich with the sunny side eggs and french fries it was even better. Then we had the dessert crepes, i had the dulce de leche with banana which needed a lil more flavor and he had the nutella with banana and he loved it, maybe a scoop of ice cream would complete it.
I went on a saturday night, but i heard friday night has live music which i will defintely go too. Down side closed mondays.
Cant wait to visit this great Doral gem again.

super duper cute little hole in the corner place. I am never in Doral but love the french foods so I travel sometimes.
food: I had wanted a hardy but not-​too-​filling meal b/​c wanted to save my space for dessert as usual so I had the Papillote Flet et Crevetes (baked flounder and fish served with veggies) and it was good, not great, lacked flavor, served in foil where it’s baked so not an impressive dish. I ate it all tho (duh). hubby had Risotto de Manzo (mushrooms, roasted peppers, and filet mignon) and he really liked. i tasted and it was def flavorful compared to my bland fish. the menu is extensive and I want to eat everything on it. hubby ordered a coke and got one of the joker 8.5oz bottles –that junk pisses me off! had crème brûlée for dessert but they have many options that sound yummy, so I plan to go back and try others. the brulee was very good.
service: friendly, a little slow. I never got a refill of water and my husband was never offered another coke or water. we ordered an espresso and the server forgot so that was sad for hubby.
ambiance: restaurant/​market type, small and cozy. i would recommended for dinner b/​c they seem to have a nice selection of wines on the wall, but not for large groups b/​c small space.
prices: good although I think that the fish and meats are over priced for the location and feel of the restaurant. my meal was $ 22.95.
bathrooms: I never mention this but had to go so here it is… big for nothing and yes, they should have used more space in dining area.
I will return to try some more good eats.

I don’t usually say «I’ll have what they’re having,» but this time, it seemed like a bad decision not to. The moment I saw an overflowing cheesy french onion soup in a beautiful personal-​sized copper pot i knew it was meant to be.
This cute little hole [in a corner] in a wall is surprisingly authentic.
Their eggs Benedict are pretty good, although the menu said they were served on croissants and instead they were served on english muffins, needless to say, I was a bit disappointed, but the flavor of my dish made up for it. Weekend brunch is also served with a complimentary mimosa. This place is incredibly affordable, 90% of the menu is under 10 bucks!
Some downsides I found were the bathrooms, yeah, they are huge, but you have to go though a storage corner and they are wasting lots of space with them; they could have used a better architect.
Also, those visually polluting fridges that hold the cheese and cold cuts. Its pretty sad how ugly they are and they are open, so they pretty much waste tons of energy, but the selection in them is fantastic.
They have organic teas and worldly products, even berry sparkling lemonade, which was sooo good!
Even though it looks like it belongs in the Gables, I’m glad they finally opened a place like this in Doral. Can’t wait to come back here.

This is a new French bistro located in Doral… is quite small, the décor is so cute, very french. It’s a restaurant/​market, they sell cheese, olive oil, fruit preserves, chocolates, wines and all kids of delicatessen. They have an awesome special for $ 24.99 you get a bottle of wine and a tray of assortements of cheese with three different kinds of fruit preserves; I couldn’t believe how good this was, the combination of the fruit and the cheese, UHHHHH! it was like a party in my mouth, you can tell that they use premium quality products. We also tried the salmon crêpe and its was very good. The menu has something for everyone, salads, soups, sandwiches, tradional French Entrées like Coq au vin, and the prices are very reasonable. I love it and recomend you try it if you are in the area, they offer live music on fridays and satudays.
