Silver Palm seems less like a full-on restaurant and more like a small venue within the Doral Park Country Club with a kitchen staff. Set off to the side of the lobby of the club itself, nestled within the park, it’s easy to miss. The view out onto the course is very pretty, highlighting a fountain near the large portrait windows. The impression of a ‘part time restaurant’ is reinforced by the setup of the food stations, which looks a bit like a(nice) hotel meeting room set-up with a breakfast buffet as part of a conference. The all-you can eat brunch is, unfortunately, pretty mediocre. It’s about on-par with what you’d get at a diner like Denny’s. On the plus side. they had a mix of breakfast and lunch items so you could create some odd combos. For example, bacon and breakfast sausage links sat in steam tables alongside parmesan chicken cutlets and sausage and peppers. There were a variety of breads available(all of which were«ok» if basically grocery-bought and reminiscent of a hotel continental breakfast). Also on offer is fruit and salad. They will also make waffles for you, or omelettes. The omelette was ok, although the waffle definitely lacked the rich, crispy quality my wife and I love about well-made waffles(independent of toppings). They also serve roast pork loin at a carving station, although this too was middling, and a bit dry. One problem might be the slow turnover of the food. When a group of us arrived, a birthday party filled with dolled-up celebrants filled about half the space. My wife noted that, if not for that single event, our group would have been the only people in the dining room. Toward the end, a few people did trickle in, but still very few. On the plus side, it’s one of the more economical brunch buffets available at $ 20 per person. And a free mimosa or champagne is included. I will also note that the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and made us feel at home(hence I sort of wish I had a more positive review to offer). As it is, the attractiveness of the space, combined with this service, bumped up the star rating by one. They also do offer a weekday lunch buffet. I think Silver Palm is a better event venue than ‘restaurant’, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Doral Country Club’s facilities for that purpose. For the brunch, I wouldn’t make any particular effort to return.
