Combined Concepts

While looking for an upholstery company on Unilocal,I found Combined Concepts and we have been working with them for 2 years now! This family business is run primarily by a husband and wife along with their kids. The husband and wife are the nicest people and so great to work with. They have done so much work for our house and have always managed to exceed our expectations. Here are a projects they have done for us within the past couple of years:
Outdoor Furniture: Using Sunbrella fabric, they replaced all the fabric on all of out outdoor furniture items. This includes 6 lounge chairs, 1 large sofa set (with multiple cushions), 1 dining set, and they created custom cushions for 8 chairs.
Moroccan Furniture Coverings: We have expensive Moroccan furniture in the pool house, and wanted to somehow put a cover with Subrella fabric (since it’s waterproof) to protect the original fabric of the Moroccan pieces. The wife (I think her name is Nora) and her husband thought of a very clever way to make covers by using velcro! The pieces look amazing and we always get compliments from people about the covers because they are unique looking pieces. I will post pictures when I get the chance.
Custom Outdoor Fire Place Cover: We needed a custom outdoor fire place cover to protect the fire place from water during the rain. I had no idea how they would be able to create a sug fitting cover, but Nora and her husband are so innovative that they were able to make a great cover using velcro and zippers! Our fire place has been dry every since!
Bedroom Curtains: We had custom curtains made for the bedroom to replace our old curtains after we did construction on the doors/​windows. We gave the old curtains to Nora, and asked her to replicate them, and she did a fantastic job!
I HIGHLY recommend Combined Concepts because they do AMAZING QUALITY work and have VERY REASONABLE PRICES.

I’ve used these folks a couple of times. The work is of a great quality — I think they can do anything! They are so accommodating and helpful that I almost feel guilty asking for anything. It’s a work ethic we don’t see much of any more… Craftspeople who actually care and will bend over backwards to get it right for you. The prices are great too.

What a fantastic family run operation. I was skeptical that the prices would be astronomical but they worked with me so that the 5 pieces of furniture they reupholstered were not only affordable but done beautifully. Great workmanship-I’d go as far to say artistic. And, what a great family! Businesses like this are another reason that Los Angeles is awesome and this is a great application of Unilocal!I will be going back to Combined Concepts for sure.

I am still in shock at the price. MUCH cheaper then any place I checked. I had a very difficult doctor’s chair that needed to be done. They did a beautiful job. Don’t waste your time getting quotes anywhere else. Take it from me, the price is the best and the service is even better.

Combined Concepts did a fantastic job repairing our antique dining chairs several months ago. I’ve been meaning to write this review for quite a while but am just now getting around to it. They are fantastic and I would use them again any time.

My experience with Combined Concepts was overall pretty awesome. When I first emailed to inquire about pricing they got back to me in less than a day. I had them reupholster a couch and create new cushions for kitchen chair seats and backs. All the workmanship looks great and they are very detail-​oriented.
The couch came first. They added some cushion to the couches (not requested but a nice touch) which made one piece not fit right. I would’ve been fine with it but they insisted on taking it back to get the size exactly right. I’m glad they did because it would have looked ridiculous if left over-​sized. They arrived around an hour late to drop off the couch and weren’t too nice. I think they were frustrated from getting lost or something. They also added a $ 25 delivery charge which was not so cool. I moved between the time they picked up and delivered the couch and they said my new place was outside of their normal area.
They more than made up for this with the chairs, which they picked up the same day. They noted that they’d be pretty busy and may not get to the chairs immediately, which was fine since I wasn’t in a rush to receive them. I contacted them the next week to request the invoice for the chairs and to my surprise they were already done! They delivered them and the final price was even $ 10 less per chair than their original estimate! They were also very nice on this visit.
My only complaint would be that they had me buy way too much fabric for the chairs– like almost twice as much as I should have bought. That was kind of a waste but even including that their prices were so reasonable and work so great that they’re worth it. The pickup and delivery also makes them really convenient to use.

We couldn’t say enough nice things about this family. They upholstered two couches, a side chair, six dining room chairs, and bar stools. Everything fit perfectly and was beautifully made. Can’t find a single flaw.
It was all done quickly and on time. In addition, everybody was a pleasure to deal with and very accommodating. For all the quality work they did, the price was quite reasonable. Highly recommeneded!

This is a small family-​owned upholstery business. The whole family participates but it’s Rapha who does the most amazing, most beautiful, detail-​orientated upholstery and sewing work. He can take any old chair, or couch and make it look better than brand-​new. For years he worked as the lead crafts person for a high-​end Beverly Hills designer. When the designer closed his shop due to health reasons, Rapha continued on his own. His daughter has a degree in interior design and together; along with the support of the entire family they do slip covers, drapery, upholstery and complete furniture design. You can bring them your own fabric or they will shop for fabrics on your behalf for a small fee. They are able to do repairs on older furniture frames and Rapha’s actual upholstery work is truly amazing. The quality is SOOOOO much better than most of the guys out there who advertise that they make slip covers. His slip covers fit like a glove and are easy to remove, replace. This guy is DETAIL orientated. They do free in-​house estimates and will pick and up and deliver to your home. They will also advise you on the best type of fabric or make suggestions if you need them. Once you do one piece of furniture– you will want to do more. I found myself wanting to find something else for them to do just because the transformation was so fun! Every friend that I have turned them onto has been more than pleased. So far they have made couches, daybeds, slip covers, upholstery and vintage repairs, draperies and custom table cloths for friends of mine and NO one has come away less than thrilled.
