They have the best molcajete ever! And the salsa and chips they give you in the beginning are amazing too. The burritos are great too. You can’t wrong with tis place and the service is great too! Me and my parents come here allll the time.

Very«hole in the wall» type place that is easily missed and looks a bit sketchy. Pleasantly surprised with the tasty food. I had the carne asada wet burrito and enjoyed it.

this little gem is tucked away next to anarchy library. although the staff here are pretty friendly, the service is a little bit slow — so you might not want to order food if you’re in a rush. karaōke en español on weekend nights. open late and the food is fucking amazing. I was barely able to finish my huge burrito and was already looking forward to coming back again to order the same thing. side note, you can order chile verde sauce on the side, but it’ll cost you a few bucks.(not on the menu) pretty authentic Mexican food and delicious. recommended!

Love this place. The BEST micheladas, friendly staff, and over all cute hole in the wall. My favorite thing to eat here are the chicken sopes.

Poor service and lousy food. Don’t waste your time and money. It took over 15 minutes for the waitress to come get our order. There were about 7 – 8 people in the restaurant at the time. We were going to walk out but she finally came to our table. It took about 45 minutes to get our food which consisted of fajitas, a bean burrito, and a relleno. When I complained about the time, she said it was all made fresh.

This place is horrible. Some friends and I headed into there last night around 10, ordered a couple of pitchers, were basically ready to have a good time and drop some mad cash there until the waitress made it clear that we were not wanted there. I guess we had to be wearing soccer jerseys and wanna be narco clothes to be accepted. First we order our pitchers and some chips and salsa(first red flag, this place charges for chips and salsa), she brings them out. Then after the first round she starts rudely cleaning our table when it was not dirty. She started vigorously wiping down the table and knocked my friends cellphone off of the table onto his groin area… without even an apology! She left abruptly before we even got a chance to order, so we then had to get her attention. So we order our food, and before our food even comes the waitress brings us our bill! I have never ever been treated like that at a restaurant. We asked why she was bringing our bill so early and could not give us a decent answer except thats just to make sure we’re paying… I mean really? what did we look like? We were the nicest looking guys in there. So in conclusion, this place does not seem to be open to new customers. SOSPENDYOURMONEYELSEWHERE! SOMEWHEREWHERETHEYWILLMAKEYOURBUSINESSFEELAPPRECIATED! Regardless of how the food tastes here(which was mediocre at best, and took forever to come out), the service is NOT worth the hassle. Never coming here again. Which I guess is what they wanted.

I’ve been here on three occasions and staff is always friendly. I haven’t had the opportunity to taste that many items from their menu so I can’t say too much about that. With that said… Their chips are standard but their salsa is consistently bomb. First visit, I only had a michelada. On my second visit, I tried their carnitas burrito & got an unpleasant piece of fat, but aside from that it was ok. The burrito came with no sides. On my most recent visit I tried their chicken fajitas and those were ok as well. Fajitas came on a hot plate served with two small quesadillas, a side of pinto beans, and a side of rice. They also give you the choice of corn or flour tortillas for your entrée. The food is mediocre at best; I’ve certainly had better elsewhere. However, their micheladas(made with Negra Modelo) are on point! If you ever find yourself in the area, I’d strongly recommend stopping in for a michelada. Perfect for those hot days in Downey(or when recuperating from a wicked hangover, ha).

Krystal B. is obviously not familiar with authentic Mexican food. This place has the best Chili Verde I have ever had since a Mexican restaurant in Long Beach, called Casa Linares, closed down in 1989. I order it extra spicy to make it as close to the Linares recipe as possible. Just be careful ordering it that way because it’s really spicy!

Ben D. Is an idiot. I wasn’t aware that authentic Mexican food was watery and tasteless. Lol any who It was my first and my last time trying this place. I ordered the Chile Verde plate, the rice and pork were tasteless and had a weird after taste. It made my stomach turn so bad that I didn’t finish and i left my entire plate there. The restaurant was small and lacked air conditioning on 87 degree day. I’m amazed at all the good reviews for this restaurant. Their food is horrible.

My parents first started coming here when they got married in 1983. By the time I was old enough to eat here they had moved away. Every blue moon they would talk about it and wonder if it was still around. About 15 years ago they finally stopped by to see and it was! This has been a family go to spot ever since. Sidenote: We live in Irvine. We’ve made trips just for the chicken tacos. And it’s not uncommon to decide to stop on the way home form LA. The food is great, the people are great(I always end up talking to another customer), service is impeccable and the prices are just right.

Generally, when you walk into an establishment and it says«Happy Hour — 3−6pm» wouldn’t you think that’s when happy hour is? Apparently not at Marias. Apparently it’s just«we set our own rules and when we say it’s happy hour then it’s happy hour.» Not what is actually posted on their own walls. False Avertisement is what should be underneath the Happy Hour sign. You lost a regular customer because of that. Someone who has been going there for years.

Normally don’t leave review for place. Yet that is such a cliché from a lot of people now a days. But I hate complaining and or praising online about a place if I can avoid it but this place is awesome great good. The service is good as long as they not packed. But the food is worth it. :)

I would rate the food 5 stars, the service 2 stars. The food was delicious and authentic. If I am back in the area would absolutely eat here because the meal was so great. Beer on tap was flat. Service really slow. I got the vibe if I was a frequent guest or spoke Spanish I would receive better service. if u r patient and food is your focus u will not be disappointed.

I ordered an enchilada combo for dinner from here. The person on the phone(who I think may have also delivered my food) was really nice and took my order easily. My food arrived faster than expected, without any issues of getting lost in the maze of the apartment complex. Immediately, the delivery guy told me that he hit a bump and that my food spilled out of it’s container, into the bag. He handled it by giving me a discount and was really kind. I don’t know of too many delivery guys that admit a mistake on their own accord, and then handle it on their own. I was impressed. I didn’t take a photo of my meal for mess reasons. It was salvageable, and my stomach was still happy. My enchiladas were missing some sauce, but they tasted sooo good. They tasted like they were made with love — is this a family restaurant?! The beans served with my combo were pretty tasty. I tried the chips and salsa that came with my order, but the salsa was off. I tasted heat, but no lime or salt. Long review short — I will be ordering from this place again!
