I’ve done take out here a few times. Friendly owner and the sushi is great. The only downside is the price. It is definitely on the higher end for local sushi places in chester county. Right now they are the only ones right around their location so the extra charge is worth not driving very far to get it but we don’t frequent the restaurant as often as we would like because of the prices.

So thrilled to have a decent Japanese restaurant locally! Our first time there was last Sunday once the Blizzard of 2016 had stopped. I was delighted with the ambiance and friendly service. We were the only ones there but not for long. The special rolls we got were delicious! The softshell crab appetizer was plentiful but really would have shined if the batter had been not so thick. Mind you, that didn’t stop me from eating it! Looking forward to going there more often! Great BYOB alert!

We were so excited to try Okinii, and then bummed out when it wasn’t very good. We ordered 5 different rolls and dumpling soup. The spicy salmon tasted funny so we didn’t finish it. The fish on another roll was actually hot to the touch, we didn’t eat that either. The dumplings in the soup tastes like over cooked pasta and were very soggy. It was very nice to be able to order the food online. Thinking tonight may have been an off night with all the other good food reviews… Wishing it wasn’t $ 75 worth of food we didn’t like

Honestly I consider myself to be a newbie when it comes to sushi, but the sashimi and rolls I got here were some of the best food I’ve ever had. I came back for more within the next 3 days. The presentation on the meals was the cherry on top to make this a truly unforgettable experience. Highly recommend.

I noticed this restaurant in the storefront next to Patty’s Place(across from Giant) and thought I’d check it out. We ordered hot green tea, a strawberry Ramune soda, the Lobster Rock n’ Roll, edamame, and the steak and shrimp hibachi. My daughter is very into Japanese pop culture and we found it a bit odd that the server didn’t know the brand name of the Japanese soda. When she ordered by name, he had no idea what she was talking about. But he was very sweet. The fried lobster roll had a LOT of breading. It had a really good flavor, but would have been even better with more meat and less batter. Finally, the hibachi was good. However it’s much different coming from the kitchen vs. Being cooked in front of you. I can’t think of the last time I had a more positive customer service experience, which definitely pushed my overall score up! Ari, the manager, and all of the servers were super attentive, polite and efficient. Ultimately, we would suggest coming here for the big beautiful, fresh sushi that is their main focus. We can’t wait to come back and continue to discover new favorites from their menu!

I talked to the guy at the door and asked them where they’re from, and he said New York… And it now makes sense why the food taste so familiar and good. We relocated from NYC2 years ago and been depressed at the terrible Chinese food in this area. This place is the best AND the Sushi is Manhattan caliber. God knows I am so thankful. Our #1 takeout place!

We had a great takeout experience! The food was ready as promised, and was delivered in ‘tight’ packaging. Meaning, the rolls were intact and not falling apart. Between the over priced Hibachi and the corporate sushi from Wegman’s, this is a happy medium. Their food is fresh and tasty! We’ll be back soon!

Boyfriend made reservations for he and I to eat here New Years Eve. When the reservations were made last week on 12⁄26 the person taking the reservation misunderstood and thought he was making the reservation for that night at 7:00pm. So at 7:30 on Saturday, December 26th he got a phone call asking if he was still coming in for his reservation. My boyfriend verified that his reservation was meant for 12/31, New Years Eve and not for Saturday, 12⁄26. We arrived at 7:00 last night, they where packed and we said we had a reservation under my boyfriends name. Surprise, surprise, they did not have him listed. There was a bit of a wait but we where sat within 20 minutes. It’s obvious they need to hire more help. It seems the owner is wearing too many hats as he takes on being the host and running all card payments and answering the phones. The food was great, grilled squid appetizer was amazing. My boyfriend still says the General Tsao’s chicken is the best he’s ever had. We will be back, maybe next time on a non-holiday when they won’t be so busy.

I’ve gotten food here 5 times since it’s opened. Food is always good, presentation is A+ and the service is very friendly — especially the owner/manager and John the sushi chef.

Finally good sushi in Downingtown! It’s great quality and good portions. Really nice staff! The avocado sensation was delicious, the fish was fresh. We came two days in a row! I only have it 4 stars instead of 5 because I didn’t like the pad thai BUT it is a Japanese restaurant not Thai … So that’s kind of expected. Will be coming lots! Love that they have Gluten Free soy sauce too!!! And order the snowballs… Amazing dessert!

This is a beautiful new restaurant that just opened up on the border of Downingtown & Thorndale. Excellent atmosphere, very friendly staff! The only Sushi restaurant that has truly wowed me with flavor and options. The food is amazing!

We’ve been waiting for this place to open for a long time now. We are so happy to have a sushi type restaurant at our location — so we want them to succeed. Here is my honest review. My wife is Japanese and I visit Japan, so we are familiar with real Japanese food. Visually this place is very nice. I like the décor and general atmosphere; seats/chairs were comfortable; temperature was great; appears clean. A+. The servers are friendly and do a good job. A-. The food was average; it came out FAST. Sashimi and sushi were fine. Unagi sushi, the eel, was small, looked old, was COLD, dry(no sauce) and tasted off… almost pungent(I did not feel well afterwards and I blame the unagi); unagi is my favorite and I order it wherever I go, so I know how it should taste. Pad Thai and Lo Mein were ok. Large Grilled Squid did not taste like it was grilled or salty like in Japan, it was ok. Food was a B-. We will revisit this place very soon and hope to update this review to more stars. We really want them to succeed. :-)

Great place, lovely environment and the service was excellent. More importantly, it is BYOB! One ‘bad’ thing about the restaurant was the entrée portion was too large! We ordered the unagi don and chirashi don as our entrees, they were both amazing! The chef didn’t substitute with lower quality of fishes for the portions of the entrees. Love this place. Can’t wait to go back again.

We stopped in on a Friday night for dinner. We started off with the sushi pizza. It was very tasty and filling. Not realizing the nice size of the appetizer we both ordered entrees. I ordered the Udon tempura bowl. It was huge. The tempura was crispy and light and the soup was lightly flavored full of fresh veggies, chicken, udon noodles and an egg. I had never had this dish before and I enjoyed it. My wife ordered the chicken hibachi for dinner. It came with a salad that had a fantastic ginger citrus dressing. It is common at sushi restaurants but this one was really good. The meal also came with a broth soup that my wife substituted for miso soup. Soup was average and a little on the not hot side. Then star of the meal was the chicken and rice on the main course. They were super flavorful and the chicken was very tender. The sauces served on the side were a little different than normal sauces served at hibachi restaurants but they were both excellent. I have to mention again that the portions of both the udon soup and chicken hibachi were out of this world. We will be eating leftovers for the rest of the weekend. Overall this was a great experience and we will not only be going back again but we will be recommending this place to our friends.

I went to a new Japanese restaurant in thorndale yesterday. The outside looks like an old small WAWA but wow!!! Looks are very deceiving when it comes to this place. You don’t expect the inside would look like it does. I love the ambiance and feel. It is very clean and the service was excellent! I did go at lunch time so I have not gone at a very busy time so I don’t know how the service is when it is busy. The food was amazingly great! It wasn’t heavy or greasy or overly flavored. The presentation of the dishes were gorgeous. I definitely would recommend going to Okinii. It’s so great to have a sushi place close to home. My husband and I go to sushi in Downingtown every Friday and even though Downingtown isn’t far, this is closer.
