Every fall, The Big Apple Circus makes its way to Dulles Town Center, before it then pitches its tent at Lincoln Center in New York City. It’s no ordinary circus. It’s a non-profit charitable organization that not only entertains but reaches out to children’s hospitals and to children with challenges. This is the best you can get in family fun, appealing to all ages-our 7 and 11 year old grandchildren loved it, but even jaded teens can’t stay jaded for long. Start a one-ring show with no bad seats. Add the most amazing acts: acrobats, high wire artists, magicians, jugglers, one hilarious featured clown who doesn’t scare children, trained animals and more. This year, the animals are camels, llamas, ponies, dogs, and goats-and they are all trained and treated humanely. In addition, many of the dogs come from rescue centers. And top it off with an engaging ringmaster and a full orchestra. We’ve been going every year for many years. The show and the acts are never the same. This year the theme has to do with magic. And magical it is, including an act where you won’t believe your eyes. And if you’re looking for great deals, check out the Wednesday and Thursday deals on the website, as well as group rates. And for the first time this year, go to Groupon for great prices, and type in «Big Apple Circus, Dulles VA.» But don’t wait, the last show is October 5… otherwise you’ll have to wait until next year, when the greatest circus in the world comes to town again.
