The Children’s Place

I hate The Children’s Place!!! What store wont exchange items unless you get the same thing in a different size??? Oh, and by the way if they dont have the item in a different size, you are just out of luck!!! WTF!!! I refuse to support a store with such a horrible policy. Save your receipts and make sure you give a gift receipt if you still choose to waste your money here!

I have been shopping at Children’s Place for many years and have generally been quite satisfied, but my latest interaction has me questioning if I’ll shop there again. After being consistently bombarded by promotional emails every day, I decided I needed jeans for the kids. The email stated $ 5.99 for all basic denim with no exceptions in stores only with a code provided in the email. So I dragged myself there only to be told by the associate that «we don’t have that at this store». This happened at the same store with the same associate a month ago as well. I read the whole email and told her this was false illegal advertising. After threatening to call corporate, she finally honored the email offer. She already knew the code to enter and didn’t even need me to tell her. Is this a corporate strategy to lure folks into the store? A bait and switch? Blatant lying? Or is this associate incompetent? Either way, totally frustrating and unacceptable. Very disappointed. When I read the very fine print at the bottom of the email, it states that prices vary by store location but there’s no mention of where or how to find participating stores. Very misleading. Very deceptive. Not good business practice at all. Busy parents don’t have time for nonsense and fine print and driving around to maybe find a participating store. They should either be an honest, transparent company, or risk losing customers who don’t want to deal with shady practices.

The ladies who work here are great– friendly without hovering, and they are super helpful. They also take special care to ask what size your child wears and point out great deals in that size. I love shopping here!

I have never been a huge fan of Children’s Place. I have always loved the quality and looks of Gymboree, Crazy 8, Gap and Kelly’s Kids much more. I did recently go in and purchase pajamas for my son… and it was okay. I don’t love the designs. Service was mediocre at best and them leaving out lots of empty racks made the store messy.
