Korean friend Chicken wings! 5.99 for a 10 peice. Domestic beer on tap pretty good place to go for lunch. Its not busy and they have lunch deals. Good beer menu too.

In my attempt to try all of the Korean Fried Chicken restaurants available in the area, we arrived from Kentucky to start off our Round Two trip back through Atlanta at BBQ Chicken. Waffle fries? I did not even see them on the menu. Are you Unilocalers tempting me with waffle fries that I will never get? Now, that’s just cruel! We did get the regular fries with our combo, they were meh. There are some new and hidden items on the specials board written in Hangul, like Ttokbokki. But, there was not much else. We ordered a half chicken meal. Fried. With Sweet and Spicy sauce. The chicken was succulent, light, and crisp. It made my hear flutter a little when I bit into it. The sauce was sweet and spicy, like a molten gochujang-mulyot frosting. For the full effect, order the whole/half chicken fried. Not the wings, not the nuggets, not the popcorn chicken; order a whole/half chicken chopped on the bone. Embrace it people. The beer is priced by the size and not by the brand. So my husband was able to score a large pint(if not larger) of decent beer for five bucks. Since our waitress was younger, I did not even bother trying to speak Korean with her, because that usually just gets me burned. Last time, the waitress was like, «sorry I don’t speak Korean!» and got all mad at me. So, after a day of driving, I did not feel like having a confrontation. However, I feel that maybe I should have just pissed her off anyways— because we did not get the full service because of this. Thankfully, after a while, we were at least able to score some radish side dish. There were many single diners sitting at the bar and ordering food, so you don’t need a huge group to have fun at BBQ Chicken. It was early on a Friday night, like around five o’clock. Yet, they were already sold out of dinner rolls and some cuts of chicken. Just a warning; they do cut the breast in half and try to sell it to you as another piece of chicken. But, it is probably done just to make sure that the large breast is cooked all the way through. There was a family of six New Yorkers passing through town, that showed up and plopped down at the table next to us. I think that they were looking for KFC and got lost, but they pointed at our food and ordered the same thing, so they must have been happy.

Super quick review, but I have ordered chicken twice from here to go. Really enjoyed the garlic chicken, as it is drowned in garlic. Your breath may be kickin’ after downing a few of these puppies, but you can console yourself with knowing that you probably got in 2 weeks’ worth of garlic(which has all kinds of good medical properties). Cannot comment about dine-in service, as I’ve yet to do that. But when I’m lazy, this place hits the spot(albeit at a not-super-cheap price).

There is a new waitress here for the lunch hour and she is amazing! She does things like: greet you look you in the eye smile bring refills and say thank you… The previous Zombie waitress in the lunch spot did none of those things which made BBQ Chicken lose more than a few stars… Viva La New Waitron!!!

I had heard about and driven past BBQ Chicken — Chicken & Beer numerous times, but I hadn’t actually checked it out for myself until recently. After telling my siblings about their famous«Olive Original Chicken» that is deep fried in 100% olive oil, they were excited to go and try it with me. Three of us arrived early on a Wednesday evening, and we were offered the choice of where to sit. There were two tiny tables put together for the three of us to sit at, but it still felt too small. FYI, you may need more room if you’re with a large group. After our server handed us the menus, she told us that we could just call/signal to her when we were ready to order. We glanced at the menu and quickly decided that we were going to get an Olive Original Chicken Family Meal, which includes 2 sides and 4 biscuits. However, the«Olive Sweet Spiced Chicken»(«Yang Nyum Tong Dak») also sounded good, so we asked if we could get the Family Meal with half Olive Original and half Olive Sweet Spiced Chicken($ 24.95). This was perfectly fine with the server. For the two sides, my siblings and I agreed to get the Macaroni Salad and Waffle Fries. About 10 minutes or so after ordering, a server brought out our Waffle Fries. Just the Waffle Fries with ketchup. I wish they had told us in advance that they bring each item out as soon as it’s ready because my siblings and I wanted to eat the Waffle Fries WITH our chicken. Boo. So we munched on a few Waffle Fries since they were hot and fresh, but we saved the rest for when the chicken was served. Next time, we’ll ask them to bring the fries out with the chicken. Taste-wise, the Waffle Fries were alright. Apparently it’s their most popular side item, but I didn’t think it was anything really special. We had been forewarned that they really take their time to cook everything, so we were anticipating another 20 minutes or so for our food. However, to our surprise, it only took an additional 10 minutes for our biscuits, Macaroni Salad, and chicken to be served! * Olive Original Chicken — The chicken was served nice, hot, and perfectly cooked. It was super delicious! It wasn’t as greasy as «normal» fried chicken, but I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything with it being deep fried in olive oil. I would have appreciated some ranch sauce(which I had requested twice, but I guess the server forgot) to dip the chicken in, but it was actually really tasty on it’s own. I would definitely order this again! * Olive Sweet Spiced Chicken — My siblings and I thought this would be spicy. Unfortunately, it was literally«spiced,» not«spicy.» The sauce is a deep red color, which makes it look spicy, but it’s not spicy at all. As soon as the chicken was placed on our table, we could smell a cinnamony fragrance coming from it. The flavor was«OK,» but I would have preferred a spicy«yang nyum» over the sweet spice. Do yourself a favor and don’t order this if you’re expecting SPICY chicken!!! * Sides — Along with the chicken and sides, we were served cubes of pickled radish(different from pickled daikon), which I always love to eat with Korean fried chicken. The biscuits were warm and delicious, but the Macaroni Salad was a complete waste of money, table space, and stomach space. It was absolutely the worst Mac Salad my siblings and I had ever tasted. It had the taste of the pickled radish juice mixed with watery mayo. We immediately regretted ordering this side, vowed to never order it again, and hope that others will heed our warning not to order it. Overall, BBQ Chicken — Chicken & Beer gets 3.5 stars for their delicious Olive Original Chicken. I had to subtract 1 star for the terrible Macaroni Salad and mediocre Sweet Spiced Chicken, and ½ a star because the server kept forgetting to bring requested items. I will definitely return for more of their perfectly cooked olive oil deep fried chicken and would recommend BBQ Chicken to anyone searching for great fried chicken! [Review 191 of 366]

I would totally give this place 5 stars if the service was good. The chicken is the best I’ve ever had. It was juicy, crunchy as hell and flavorful and they fry their chicken in olive oil. They also give pickled radish out to their«Korean Customers». We had a Korean friend at the table so they asked for it. Also ask for hot sauce for the chicken. It was delicious without it, and even better with! The service is slow and rude. I feel like Koreans have an attitude problem against anyone who doesn’t speak Korean. We had to repeatedly ask for refills, drinks, sides, and other nick nacks. And the reaction we get when we ask is plain rude.

came here with the BIL for lunch on Saturday. We were the only table in the restaurant, so service was very quick and prompt. We decided to order the family platter with half sweet and spicy chicken and the other half garlic. The sides were the waffle fries and macaroni salad. The fries came out first and were quite tasty! I had to keep reminding myself to take it easy as i didn’t want to fill up on an appetizer. The chicken came out and looked awesome. There was even a metal cyclindrical bucket they gave you for the bones. Although the chicken pieces looked huge and were very well fried, the flavor wasn’t really evident after you get past the skin. The sweet and spicy were drenched in the sauce, which was bad since it congealed into a sticky mess if you didn’t risk third degree burns to your mouth by gobbling everything down as quickly as possible. Total with a beer and 2 waters was close to $ 40, a bit expensive considering it was for lunch. The atmosphere definitely lends itself to a younger, late night crowd, which is where most of your money goes to. It’s ok, but i guess I much rather prefer the quality at Toreore Chicken and Joy inside of the Super H Mart in Suwannee; even though you’re eating inside of a grocery store.

Yeah! Awesome! I’m a big fan of chicken and beer always. This place has a cool bar setting and of course awesome Korean style wings for low low price. I love their teri-gold wings and bbq wings. It just feels right when you put these two combos together(hot and mild… like ying and yang. like fire and water…) I visited this place about a month ago and was impressed with the interior design and the ambience as well. But it was too bad that the place was pretty dead on a Thursday night. Then again, this is Duluth… who really hangs out in Duluth?

I hate to say it, but it’s time to break up with you BBQ Chicken and I don’t really want too!!! It seems that I fell in love with you far to quickly. I couldn’t get enough and stopped by to visit you most every day after we first met. Unfortunately that only allowed me to see some of your flaws and inconsistencies more clearly. I want you to know it’s not me, it’s you!!! I was blinded by your deliciousness, but now I’m seeing a little more clearly. So I’m going to take a little time away from you to see if absence will make my heart grow fonder. I hope we can get it together, because you were the single most satisfying CHICKen in my life during these wonderful few weeks together. I was heartbroken after our last date when you left me with far less than I ordered and nothing seemed to taste the same. You told me I could substitute the 2 legs and thighs in the Olive Chicken family meal for 2 wings and 2 additional breasts, but it seems you only cut the two breasts in half that would have been mine anyway… which made them look more like four large chicken nuggets than whole breasts. Did you think I was stupid and wouldn’t notice? Your wings were literally bigger than your breasts, which made for an odd deformity. I’m not trying to embarrass you, but can you explain? I’ve been noticing these change in you during our last few dates, but thought maybe I was just getting used to having you around. Now I see you don’t really care how I feel about you anymore. I need things to be right if we are going to continue. Next time we meet, I’d like to feel like you WANT us to be together. Show me you are still the same Chicken I first fell in love with, otherwise I’ll need to move on!!! Love, Richard

Chicken and Beer in Korea was one of my favorite combos of all time. That being said, this restaurant which is named Chicken and Beer, while not the most impressive to me, was good for a once in a while treat. Very clean interior, nice ambiance, and tasty food make this Unilocalee a recommender. On my most recent visit I came here new years eve with my wife and son. My wife especially complimented the interior space for being spacious and clean. I have tried this chain in Korea a few times, but to be honest, I prefer a few other chains more than this one. I wish the pieces of chicken were a bit easier to eat, but I think their recipe and style make it a bit more challenging to eat than other chicken restaurants. Use caution as the chicken is usually quite hot when it arrives at the table. On previous visits I had their wings which were good as well, but again, nothing that screamed for me to come back. I am happy to announce they work with Foursquare, and their check in deal when I came in was a $ 10 discount off the check. I had a bit hard time getting that redeemed, but in the end it was honored. I would recommend this place for a crack at Korean style Fried Chicken. B+ and a «I hope you guys stay!» in my book.

I still like KFC’s original recipe best but the«Olive Original Chicken» is very good, too. I’ve made two visits, and both times got the Original b/c the reviews raved about Original being the best flavor and the other flavors didn’t appeal to me. The olive oil does give off a peculiar fume that’s hard to describe, esp. apparent if you happen to microwave the chicken. The chicken though does have a lot of flavor, and a slight kick too. I wish they’d let you order the chicken a la carte, but they only have ½ and whole chicken portions. Combo meals are only available during lunch. OLIVEORIGINALCHICKEN(½ ORDER) — $ 9.45 Includes 5 pieces which is a good size for 2 people. Chicken is marinated, battered, and breaded in over 30 ingredients and deep-fried in 100% olive oil. Chicken comes with pickled radish — the freshness, flavor, and crunch of the radish is a nice complement to the fried chicken. CRISPYFRIEDGREENBEANS — $ 4.95 Green beans were just ok — disappointed since the reviews were raving about them. Portion was enough to share among 3 – 4 people. OLIVECRISPYCALAMARI — $ 7.95 Also ordered the calamari special which was all tentacles. The garlic butter dipping sauce was very yummy. Overall very good. I like that the chicken is fried-to-order — however that means you do have to wait … but not as long as you would for Bonchon chicken. Can’t remember the wait for my first visit, but I waited 30 minutes the second time. They do say they are BBQ = «best of the best quality» :) FYI — they sell gift certificates which will save you a few bucks. $ 25 certificates for $ 20, and $ 50 certificates for $ 40.

I’m not totally sure why people are so enamored with this place. Yeah, they have fried chicken that’s pretty good, but it’s not much beyond KFC in terms of taste. I actually prefer KFC’s regular fried chicken to this place. Gasp! What? Don’t hate on KFC. If they sold it for $ 24 at Bacchanalia everyone would rave about it. But, alas it’s KFC. Anyways, we had 2 whole chicken meals on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm. One was the olive chicken which to me just tasted like regular fried chicken you’d get anywhere. We also had the Sweet Spice chicken which was yummy. I’ve never had fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce on it. The sides we had varied significantly in terms of quality. Macaroni salad was gross, potatoes were subpar, the fries were awesome, and the biscuits rocked. Our server was a young asian lady who was very nice and attentive. No problems with the service at all. The price as also great as well. About $ 70 for everything for 6 people. It’s decent chicken but not worth the drive from Atlanta. Maybe if you happened to be in the area and had a giant craving for chicken.

My experience with Korean eateries has almost always been positive, and this is no different — a nice«BBQ», not be confused with real barbecue, serving alot of fried chicken! You won’t expect that, but this place has quite delicious tasting food from it’s original fried chicken to sweet & sour chicken to the waffle fries(thanks James B) to the fried beans(thanks Kristin) to the onion strings, which are really just onion rings but thinner sliced and tasty with dip. It’s advertised everywhere as 100% olive-oil fried chicken, which sounds really healthy, but I don’t know and I don’t care as long as food tastes good. The service was good, not fast — probably due to our large group of people(from a UYE meeting). I think it was a 30 minute wait for the main meal at least… the small starters came in this cool looking cone stand wrapped in paper with a little side holder for the sauce. Starters were $.495 regular but I think ½ off because of some sports event — so worth it then! The original chicken was very tender inside and crispy on the outside. The flavor is slightly sweet, not sure how they did the taste — but it was good, but after abit of eating it, the aftertaste was weird to me. Handling finger foods is always tricky, this was not at all oily though. I had ordered a Coke, and was brought a water, but that’s okay — with a huge group of people, the waiter probably got confused on who ordered what anyways. Overall, a nicely decorated place with a small bar that was quite full of people and ambience is fun/light. Not too noisy though there was a TV with the game on, but very open spacing. I will recommend to come and try it out, and I’m going to have to go back to relive the taste…

FYI: I’m giving this place 2 stars because I thought the food I ordered was just«meh». Why? The smell and after-taste of the wings we ordered threw me WAY off. I can’t quite describe the smell: we ordered the sweet spicy wings and the bbq wings. Granted, I did not order the Olive Chicken, which is what they’re known for. The ambiance is fantastic — I can definitely see this place as a place to chill out at late at night. They were very helpful, so no problems with service. My favorite dish was the Waffle Fry appetizers! The fries are seasoned fries(like Checkers, Rally’s, Back Yard Burger) … but they are Waffle Fries(like Chick-fil-A). The best of both worlds. My husband enjoyed the wings because they provided you with a lot more meat(than BWW = Buffalo Wild Wings) and sauce than other places. I agree with him on that. Again, just wasn’t a fan of the smell and the after-taste — maybe its because they were cooked in olive oil. BAH! Maybe — just maybe — I will give it another try. We shall see, but not a fan for now.

I know it’s called Chicken & Beer, but to me, the standout was the fried green beans. They came with a creamy, spicy dipping sauce that was the perfect accompaniment. This is a must get, especially if all starters are half off like the night we were there. And the«we» is perhaps the key part of this review, as I was there as part of a UYE with a big group. They handled our group very well, separating checks by name and remembering orders very well. The manager also knew we were there as part of a Unilocal group, and actually stopped by our table as we were paying and asked for feedback on the job they were doing and the food they were serving. It’s great to see a business being so proactive about customer satisfaction. The chicken itself is tasty. I went with the original, and it has a light coating/batter unlike any I’ve ever tasted. I’m not sure if it was the olive oil, but it had an almost sweet flavor. Next time, I’m stepping up from the platter and getting a half chicken. With the platter, you get a side and a salad, and my coleslaw and side salad were fine, but nothing special. Stick with the stuff they can throw in the fryer here –they know what they’re doing with that thing. The food was good, and the company made the drive to Duluth from downtown Atlanta completely worth it.

BBQ Chicken — Chicken & Beer opened two months ago in McDaniel Square, the same shopping center as Honey Pig. BBQ Chicken is a popular Korean fried chicken chain and this is the franchise’s first location in Georgia. The BBQ doesn’t stand for«barbeque,» but instead, «Best of the Best Quality.» I came here last night for Tom C’s UYE( ) with 10 other Unilocalers. These guys fry their chicken in 100% olive oil. I think they mention this on almost every page of the menu. They tout the health benefits of olive oil on the back of the menu and on large signs inside the store. I don’t know how much healthier their fried chicken really is. Fried chicken is fried chicken. It’s not supposed to be healthy! It tasted great, though. And if anything, it wasn’t greasy. BBQ Chicken has several different flavors and varieties of chicken to choose from. You can get it fried or grilled. You can get wings, chicken tenders, popcorn chicken, or your chicken in a sandwich. Or you can do it the traditional way and order a 2 or 3-piece platter or half a chicken or whole chicken. They pretty much meet all your chicken needs. Along with that, they offer a variety of starters and sides, including waffle fries with nacho cheese, fried string beans, and corn salad. Mmm. I tried the following: Olive original chicken Olive sweet spice chicken Crispy fried green beans Waffle fries with nacho cheese Corn salad I ordered the olive original on a platter, which comes with a salad, side, and a drink. These run anywhere from $ 6.95 to $ 9.95. Some of the flavors aren’t available on a platter, so you’re forced to buy half a chicken or a whole chicken to try it. This was the case with the sweet spice chicken, which I also wanted to try. Yes, I’m an animal. Half a chicken is about $ 10 and a whole is just under $ 20. The olive original chicken was delicious. I love Korean fried chicken. The batter was light and crispy. The meat was juicy. I could taste the subtle difference of the olive oil in the batter. Yum. I’m craving more now as I write this. The pieces of chicken are bigger than the ones they sell at Toreore(H Mart food court). The sweet spice chicken was also good. It was loaded with a red sauce that gave the chicken somewhat of a kick, but was more sweet than anything. It was pretty rich. I prefer the olive original as it’s not quite as heavy and has better herb-type flavors. I thought the starters and sides were OK. Like the chicken, the green beans are fried in olive oil too, and the batter is light and tasty. It reminded me of tempura. The waffle fries are the same way. The corn salad was sour, which is typical because this is a Korean restaurant. As for beer, I didn’t have any, but Roy L. got a 24 oz. draft beer for only $ 4. The beer was served in a clear giant mug that was lined with ice. The restaurant itself is new and clean. The inside is dimly lit. It’s got a cool, somewhat trendy ambiance to it. Cushioned booth seating along the walls, huge artwork, a bar that glows, a couple flatscreen TVs(I was able to watch LeBron cry after the Heat eliminated the Celtics), and giant pictures of Korean girls advertising BBQ Chicken. Our server was Ki and he did a fantastic job taking our orders and separating checks for our large group. The service was timely as well. Be sure to check out their specials board outside. They’re running half-off all starters for the remainder of the NBA playoffs which ends sometime in June.

Ice cold beer, frosted with iced Mugs, Olive Oil fried chicken, a nice bar with a blue light, and prompt service. What is not to like? We came early on a Friday night. The crowd was a mix of younger and surprisingly older Koreans. I noted that most everyone else got the pure fried chicken. I am not a huge fried chicken guy in general(half the time i don’t eat the skin), but I love Korean Yum Yum Chicken. Yum Yum Chicken is the chicken with the sauce on it. The place up by HMart Suwanne(I don’t speak Korean) has the best sauce in my opinion. This place BBQ Chicken is more known ofr their fried chicken itself then the sauce. Being cooked in Olive oil it tasted fresher and cleaner then a typical fried chicken. A $ 24.99 Yum Yum full chicken and two sides was more then enough. The biscuits, corn and fries were great. As Donnie S mentioned, beer prices were cheap, imported Korean Hite beer was like $ 3.50, large 28 oz drafts also very affordable. The place almost looks like it could be a cool little bar hang out late at night. Two flat screen TVs and a fairly long bar. Not bad! I suspect I will come here bi-monthly. A welcome addition to Duluth.

Chicken & Beer is a fried chicken franchise that was immensely popular in Korea. And they opened one up in the same plaza as Honey Pig. Their huge selling point is that they fry their chicken in olive oil and market it to the masses by the benefits of consuming olive oil. What a lot of people don’t know is that olive oil has a very low heating point and once you take it over that point… it is actually worse then the the usual cooking oils. You can only get those health benefits of Olive Oil if you consume it straight up… not fried. Anyways now that I got that point out of the way. Overall, even with the misinformation marketing their olive oil fried chicken is delicious. With friends, we ordered a whole chicken which consists of drumsticks, wings, breasts and other pieces. We got both flavors which is the regular fried chicken and the sweet and spicy flavor. The chicken was crispy, juicy, flavorful with hints of olive oil taste. It was really good and better than expected. We also got sides of biscuits, coleslaw, and waffle fries. Biscuits and waffle fries were pretty good. The coleslaw is more«pickled» tasting like kimchi. It does not taste like regular southern coleslaw. I definitely recommend this place and I would come back. One thing to watch out for is that you might have to wait awhile to get your food. Maybe it takes a long time to prepare. You might wait around 20 minutes or longer for it depending how busy it is but it is worth the wait. If you are picking up… call 20 minutes ahead to pick it up right on time. The table service we got was really good. They kept up with my water and that is pretty hard to do. They also have grilled chicken too for those of us who are health conscious. The prices were decent. The price of a whole chicken for Olive Original Chicken is $ 18.95. Check the place out!

From the moment you walk in and are greeted by a faint very pleasing aroma you know this is going to be good and it doesnt disappoint. I only had a chance to try the olive oil chicken. It was incredibly fresh and the olive oil gave it a flavor I’ve never had in fried chicken before — almost as if the chicken had run through the hills of Tuscany before winding up on my plate. I look forward to returning soon for more pleasures.

They just opened last week and they really did a great job satisfying their customer. The sweet and spicy chicken is my favorite because they have a distinct cinnamon flavor, plus they cook their chicken in olive oil, as a result they provide healthier food. I also really like their waffle fries… it’s not the ordinary waffle fries that you can get at Chick-fil-a. Overall i will come back for sure!
