This place was once a great little bar with good food and great service! Not no more! Was there for two hours and only 6 people in the bar and the waitress was on her cell phone pretty much the entire time. The food was mediocre at best. The well done burger arrived medium rare. Not sure who owns/manages this place but someone should pay closer attention and hire waitresses and cooks who care!

Great place! Live hockey without the cold! Awesome burgers and wings! Cold beer, full bar, fast and friendly service! Try the Poutine. Since they cater to a number of Canadians(hockey), you can get it there.

A hidden sports bar tucked away in the second floor of an ice hockey rink. It literally feels like a hole in the wall. To get to the bar, you need to walk through the lobby of the ice rink, around the back, and up the stairs. It’s dark and not very big. The menu selection is typical sports bar food — sandwiches, burgers, and wings. All of the food is very cheap. You can get a burger for about $ 6 – 8 with a large patty, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. There are classic variations of your standard burger, such as mushroom and Swiss and Texas BBQ. If you want fries or another side, you have to pay a little bit extra. From a taste standpoint, I would rate this as an average burger. Great size, okay taste. Also, I’ll have to admit that I’m not the biggest hockey fan. Add a star if you like watching hockey — it is a chill place to go watch a hockey game. If you’re hungry after you’ve gone ice skating, it’s also a decent place to grab a snack.

Best grilled cheese ever, couldn’t imagine this place without the grilled cheese with bacon and tomato! Excellent all around sports bar and best service anywhere.

Wings are the best in the south. Staff is very friendly and beer is cold. This is the best kept secret in town.

This is a great place to hang out, relax, have a drink, eat a tasty snack, watch live hockey, and enjoy a low-key atmosphere with great service. Saturday and Sunday are my favorite days because the bartenders are a lot of fun. Great times at Breakaway Grill!

What could be better than having a bite to eat while watching hockey? Mom and dad can have a quick warmup, drink, and snack while the kids are skating. Great date night possibilities !!

Like the previous review mentioned, this is little known outside the skating community. But it is a family friendly sports bar and grill that is worth checking out. The food is decent, fair selection of beers, this is not a five star establishment –but they don’t pretend to be. The wait staff is very friendly and extremely patient with kids. There are several T.V.‘s that always have a game on. And frequently the corner booth has on something for young children to watch. The restaurant overlooks what was formerly known as the Thrasher’s Ice(maybe Gladiator’s Ice now?) and you can watch local amateur adults, high school or college hockey games while you eat. After games the bar booth and a few of the tables will be filled with players and family but it’s a very upbeat friendly atmosphere.

This is a great little secret known typically only to hockey players since it’s tucked away upstairs at The Ice Forum rink in Duluth. It’s a great place to come sit and relax and watch the games or practices below while enjoying some great food and beer. People used to come here to watch the Thrashers practice, but these days it’s just fun to hang out and watch the amateurs and socialize. The food here is basic fare for the most part, but they do have some nice pasta entrees and the burgers are awesome. A friendly wait staff helps a lot and they(somehow) always manage to remember what your like and keep your orders straight. If you like wings, try the Mediyaki wings or chicken fingers — they’re quite tasty! It’s not a large place, but it’s comfortable and they do a pretty good lunch business as well as feeding hungry players after each of the hockey games during the evening. They have a good selection of beers and liquor and if you’re looking for some good basic eats at affordable prices, check them out.
