It’s really unfortunate that this 9-hole layout has fallen into disrepair and obvious neglect. It’s location between Concord and Manchester is very convenient. It is a reasonable course to walk. Holes 8 and 9 begin the final uphill trek to the small clubhouse on the hill that overlooks the 9th and could have a sensational deck, party spot. There’s no water to drink on the course so they do offer you bottled water at the clubhouse. Nice touch. The wooded sides along the holes have overgrown and are impossible now to find an errant ball. Holes 1 – 3 are the old wide-open links style and really get you off to a great start. The greens have this sort of old soft grass like«Vesper Velvet,» my husband says it’s sort of unique in modern golf. It’s a good place for a beginner because of the low traffic. The layout is nice and actually memorable with some nice views as others have stated. Just there are so many options in the area. We’d prefer others.

I truly loved this course. Most greens were outstanding others a work in progress. The course is challenging and fun. Reasonable green fees. Friendly welcoming atmosphere, Carl and Colleen are gracious hosts. This is an enjoyable 9 hole course. Whether a novice hacker or scratch golfer you should enjoy this course. I played this while on vacation. I played it 3 times with my wife and our friend couple. We all agreed it’s a diamond in the rough. Sure it’s not a TPC course but it’s still a fun day… go and enjoy!!! Phil & Marge Owens. Mark and Aline DiPietro

I don’t know what Craig L. expects but the new ownership of Countryside is PHENOMENAL! Slowly but surely, the course is looking better than many in the area(Stonebridge lost half of its greens this winter) and is much more affordable. Countryside is my go-to! There is never any pressure from behind and I can always spend some extra time fishing my golf balls out of the woods. Support for your local public course.

Countryside Golf Club is a nine hole, no frills course in Dunbarton, NH. If you’re looking for a quick round and are in the vicinity, it is a pretty good value, and you can generally walk on without too much difficulty. The first two holes start wide open, so you can really grip and rip it. From the 2nd tee, you get a really amazing view of the Uncanoonuc Mountains(these are the ones you can see looking west from Manchester with the many radio towers). After this, you descend into the forest, and from that point on, the course tightens up considerably. It can play very challenging due to the lower-tier maintenance. If you don’t keep it on the fairway(and in some cases, if you do), you’re looking at very tough lies which result in some bad shots. You generally sacrifice something for the lower greens fees, and at Countryside, it is a lack of grass in many areas. Of course, you don’t come out to Dunbarton for a world class golf experience… you’re looking for a low cost round where you can have a few pops while you play a relaxing nine. The people are very nice, and the beer girl is always very timely in coming around, so if you’re looking for low key golf, give this place a try.

Great value of a course. Staff is friendly. The first two holes can make it seem like you are in for an easy course, but you soon find some narrow, tree-lined fairways, a tough par 5 that requires a 2nd shot over a pond and some greens that punish approach shots that go long. Don’t get me wrong, golfers of all skill levels can enjoy this course. In fact I learned to play on this course and I think it helped me become a better golfer due to some of the narrow fairways. They usually run a special where before noon Monday through Friday you can play nine holes, with a cart for $ 20. That is hard to beat!

To Whom It May Concern: I was at your course today for the first time. It came highly recommended from two people that I work with. The weather was not so great but when we got there we had a great time playing nine holes. After nine, we decided to play again. All told we paid $ 31 each to play 18 holes with a cart which is a decent deal. We also spent more than $ 20 for beers and hot dogs. Then things went bad. We were at the 4th green when a young male approached us on a cart. We had no idea who he was because he also had two bags on the back of his cart. He started yelling at us because we violated the course rules. We had no idea what he was talking about. He told us that he had been watching us play the whole time. He watched us go from the 8th tee back to the fourth tee in order to play more holes for free. He also said that he watched mee pee on the course. I had to go the the bathroom for two reasons. We bought beers from your pro-shop and I also suffer from a medical condition. I was upset that there was not a bathroom somewhere on the nine holes, much like other courses, so I had to relieve myself in the woods. I made sure that no one else was around. I did not want to offend anyone. I also did not expect that we were being watched from an unknown location. He then said that he works for the course and that you have had problems with people doing what we were accused of. He said we were not being truthful as he watched us go from eight back to four. I offered to show him our score card as we had no other option to prove that we did not do what he accused of us doing. He stated that it was not okay, for some unkown reason. He then left on the cart. Since this was the fourth green we finished putting and moved on. During this time we kept trying to figure out if we made a mistake somewhere. This continued until we got to the 6th tee and an older male then pulled up on a cart and began to watch us. I had to walk over to him and ask if he were the greenskeeper. He rudely replied«someting like that». I explained what had happened. He simply said that they had problems with the other employee and apologized. He said he hoped we would be back and then left. It has been a long time sice I was accused of being untruthful. The last place I expeced this to happen was on a golf course where we paid money to play two rounds. We did nothing wrong however our second round was ruined by your employee. It got even worse on the 9th tee when we were waiting for our turn to tee off. The pair behind us approached us and asked what we had done wrong to get spoken to. We explained to them what happened, even though we had been in front of them for the last eight holes. The laughed and said that it was crazy that there was drama at the Countryside. We went to the course to have a good time. The good time was ruined by being disrespected by your staff. We were told that this employee is a problem, however it must be important enough to keep him employed than to keep golfers happy. I really dont care who he his. All I know is that he ruined our time and we will go out of our way to tell people to stay away from your golf course. We never did what we were accused of, but I guess that doesn’t matter to your staff. –Patrick Webster
