According to Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, this is a greek restaurant. There are a few greek dishes on the menu, but not many. Take note that the menu offers a Mediterranean section that is all italian food. Saturday evening around 7 or so, after the dinner rush but before the«going out to drink» crowd. The hostess showed us to an unset table, though there were several tables in the same section already with silverware and place mats. The waitress was very young and very energetic. I ordered the New England Cod meal. The menu said it came with a soup or salad, entrée, potato, vegetable and a dessert(chocolate pudding was one of the three options.) While ordering, I asked for the salad, cod, mashed potatoes, a vegetable and the chocolate pudding. The waitress told me that I would have to wait to order the dessert. The salad arrived and it was an overflowing small plate of iceberg lettuce, a few black olives, 3 very thick slices of cucumber, 4 unripe cherry tomatoes and a shaved slice of red onion. It also arrived before the silverware, so I had to wait for the waitress as she went for the place settings. When the food arrived, it was a very bland, waterlogged piece of cod. It had no flavor even after salt and lemon were added. The mashed potatoes were congealed and cold. I don’t even remember what the vegetable was… My dinner companion ordered the chicken fingers and the Philly Steak Fries. The chicken tenders were room temperature. The fries were a large plate of golden brown fries, covered in minced steak that was dry on top and over cooked. The cheese was thin and sparse. When we finally gave up on the food, the waitress rushed over with the check. I asked about the dessert menu and mentioned that I still wanted the chocolate pudding that was supposed to come with my meal. She informed me that they were out of chocolate pudding but could get banana pudding or jello in it’s place. I said«the menu clearly says chocolate pudding» and her response was simply«we’re out», she layed down the check and walked away. We never did get a dessert menu so we got up and left. Going in, as we walked up the ramp, I remember thinking that I couldn’t remember why we hadn’t been to the Boulevard Diner in several years… as we were leaving, walking down the ramp, I said«Now I remember why we don’t eat here.»

Decent food. Way overpriced though. Went there for lunch with me and 4 kids and the bill was $ 73. Kids ordered pancakes with bacon and they charge $ 4 for a side of bacon. Not again.

A sea of endless booths greets you upon arrival. The menu is huge; literally. The servers are Balmer through and through. I’ve had to be in the Dundalk, MD area several times this year; been eating here because it’s easy to find and the locals talk it up. The claim-to-fame dish featured on the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives TV show – sour beef and dumplings – is unlike anything I’ve ever encountered before. I’ve consumed a fair amount of sour beef and dumplings in my lifetime prepared by numerous cooks. Not really sure what has happened here, but find theirs to be nearly unpalatable, and a let-down. Salad offerings are numerous and safe. Desserts are homemade; pies are a solid choice. Fries are good and can be served 5 different ways. Coffee is okay; customers get 1 refill only. Pricing is reasonable.

The boulevard diner never fails! Be at breakfast lunch or dinner we’ve never been disappointed. The Greek fair here is unbelievable and the crabcakes are amazing with practically no filler. This is always my go to spot!

This place is hit or miss. It depends on what you order as to how good it is. However, I have always had good service. The prices are a little high. But it’s an ok place if you want diner food.

It was my first time here.(And last time…). Just came in here today around 1 pm, I sat at the bar section and it was during the lunch time so everybody was running around busy-busy. 5 min later I Got my coffe. Next 15 min I was waiting for somebody to take my order, I looked at lady who was serving at the bar, but I guess it was her time to clock out and she ignored me altogether(she pass me, clocked out and left). When I asked for help, bar tender ask the other bar tender«why didn’t you get her?» Answer was«I thought you got her». And I didn’t have time to sit and listen why nobody got me and why I should go to work hungry and order some delivery at work. I guess they don’t care about satisfaction of their customers as much as they should. I know One thing, even tho this restaurant in the area I live at, I would not come back here. When I said that I don’t want anything and I gotta go to work, to the waiter — «nobody took my order, everybody just ignored me» I said, waiter said«alright» and left, no «sorry», no «but let me help you», no «let me take your order now». Nothing! And you know what? If they don’t want my business I’ll be more than happy to give my money to someone who care about customers.(Sorry for bad grammar guys)

We go a lot to this diner(my husband and I). It is in a good location on our way home from work. They have a lot of variety. The only thing I don’t like is that the last couple of times I was there, I wanted to order dessert and the waitress said I had to go up to the counter and choose my dessert. I don’t want to have to walk over and be seen by everyone so I skipped ordering it. I guess it is a good diet guideline for me, keeps me from eating desserts. Otherwise everything is good except their cold salad plate. The salads are sour. Overall though, good place to go and I recommend it. Evelyn

I stayed in the area and came across this diner. Eaten three times in one week. Figured I would right a review. It’s your typical diner. Open early closes late. The menu is pretty intensive. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner I guess will cause you to have a large menu. First meal was chicken fried steak. Delicious! Later that week I came in and tried the hot open turkey platter. It was decent. Needed more pepper and more salt. Lastly came in today for breakfast. Wonderful skillet. Great homemade desserts! Service is very friendly, food comes out pretty quick. The people watching is the best. Just a bunch of locals talking gossip. I highly recommend this place and I will be back when I’m in this part of town.

I stop by the place on the way from DC to NYC. This spot has good food and great portion sizes. My wife got pancakes and I got the meatloaf. Now don’t come here expecting something gourmet this is a diner and a very good one at that. They are famous for their sour beef and dumplings so I suggest you try that when you come. It’s different, and very tasty.

We have been going to the boulevard diner since they have opened and I have to say that some things have just lost their luster. You can always count on a decent meal and big portions but the quality and care may not always be there. It’s been about a year since we have been to the diner but we were in the area so we decided to have an early dinner. I had ordered the grape leaves for an app(these are always spot on !) And a crab fluff(that never came and the waitress said I didn’t order it even though I did and she had even asked my sides …) my husband loves their sour beef and dumplings and my dad got their Turkey club which is always very good and my daughter got the turkey kids meal which was absolutely swimming in gravy and the stuffing was an icky paste like mass. My husband and I also had a cup of the Maryland crab soup which is always great. After our meals we got some desserts to go, I normally LOVE their cheesecake however the Oreo cheesecake wasn’t the dense creamy dream that I remember, this was just some no bake cheesecake type nonsense. The lemon cake looked decent and the strawberry cheesecake was that same fluffy no bake cheesecake type stuff. I just don’t know what happened here. It’s a major let down when you get so excited about a meal and dessert that you have always loved at a place that was so reliable before. I’m in no rush to come back again, maybe in another year?

i’m another one of those people that came here because this place was on Food Network’s «Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.» I was not disappointed. Now, this is a very typical diner. You have a wide selection of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options that range from all over the place. It’s also a typical diner setting. The service was very prompt and the waiter was friendly. Boyfriend ordered a sandwich that her liked, and I ordered a burger that was very typical diner burger, but it was good. We also had some of the ice cream and a milkshake, which were also really good. The boyfriend and I had to order the grade leaves, I mean that’s what was highlighted on the show! Definitely not disappointed. The grape leaves were a bit hot, so we had to let them cool, but they were delicious! I loved that the filling included meat instead of just a rice mash thing, and they were just so flavorful. I really enjoyed the sauce that was drizzled over the grape leaves as well. I also ordered a Spinackopita to-go, since my mother loves it, and she really liked it when she had it for lunch the next day. I had a bite of it and while I’m a bit picky about eating cooked spinach, this was really good! Overall, I really liked this place and if I’m ever in the area again I’ll come back to it.

Upon my first review I was messaged by the owner MJ. I really love it when I hear directly from an owner. He made some valid points and concerns so I’m updating my review accordingly and bumping up their rating to three stars for caring enough about what their customers think and addressed the issues. Thanks MJ! I love diners and diner food. However, I was there last Saturday night with a group of my friends. We have been going to diners in the Baltimore area looking for great food. Unfortunately we did not find any here. First off, the server was great. She did her best to keep our drinks full and our food got to us in a timely fashion. The problem was with the food. I ordered Challah French toast, two poached eggs and bacon. The toast was stale and dry, my eggs were hard and the bacon was off the giant pile of dried, brittle strips. And of course, the soda was in a small glass… Giving up on my meal, which, even drenched in syrup and hard butter(The bread was barely warm enough to soften the cold butter) was at best palatable, I ordered dessert. A red velvet cupcake. Dry, and covered with something that looked like it should taste sweet it in fact did not. I have never had whatever was covering this thing before. It is supposed to be a cream cheese icing, and if you don’t have cream cheese frosting most places use butter cream. This was neither. Fondant pipped into a fancy big blob… ugh Maybe it was a bad night here at the Boulevard Diner. This is my third visit here and I’m hoping next time it will be better.

Rubbery chicken, $ 15 salad with wilted lettuce. There are less expensive places in the area where you can get better quality food. $ 18 for a lunch salad and fountain soda is completely ridiculous.

I went again to give them a second chance, and tried the sour beef, I don’t know what it’s supposed to taste like but it was full of sugar; I couldn’t eat it. I also ordered a breakfast platter and the bacon was dried worse than jerky inedible, and the pancakes were flavorless. On the upside the staff is incredibly nice but I won’t be back.

I’ve been going to this diner for years. I have to say that recently it has changed and not for the better. The food has always been good here. My favorite has always been the open face turkey sandwich. Last two times I ordered it, it was cold. I have noticed that the crab soup seems to have changed too. It seems watery and has huge chunks of potatoes in it that are sometimes quite hard. The last time I ordered the meatloaf tower it was cold too. The crab fluffs are delicious. They have a huge selection of dishes. Many are very good but lately I keep getting cold dishes.

This place serves mediocre, tasteless food… Don’t expect anything other than bland lifeless cafeteria food. The best part was the condiments. The waitress was really nice though. Food sucked. Go to Denny’s down the street.

After my husband saw this diner on TV, he just had to eat here. On our way back from Washington to Philly, we stopped by this place on Easter Sunday night. It was very quiet. We ordered the grape leaves as a starter, I ordered the southern style crab cakes and my husband the meat loaf tower. The stuffed grape leaves were OK, but I prefer them without meat — this is just a personal preference. My crab cakes were OK too, but I think I should’ve ordered the ‘traditional’ ones. These had scallions and corn in them. My husband’s meat loaf tower was not what I thought it would be. The thing that makes it a tower is the slices of white bread it comes with. I think it came with 2 big slices of bread, then some mash, and then 2 slices of meat loaf with gravy. It was tasty though, according to my husband. Overall, our dinner here was just OK. I wouldn’t say I would come back here and I feel you wouldn’t miss out on much if you skip your visit.

After our families last experience at the Diner I really wasn’t sure if we would venture somewhere else. My grandmother want to return the next day since it was centralized to everyone in the family’s residences. The manager the situation has been addressed and we had the same waitress again. The situation was not repeated and everything was kosher. Overall the place is a good spot for some home cooking and delicious desserts.

If you are going for scrambled eggs or something deep fried you should be fine but anything original or complex(or seasoned) would be a stretch. The menu is a simple diner menu with no frills. The food is the same. Quite a bland and institutional taste. 2 ½ stars
