I ordered the French dip, and was pleasantly surprised. The beef seemed to be actual sliced roast beef, not the processed meats you typically see used in a French dip. As for the beer, the Third Eye P.A. was not anywhere near a traditional IPA, and had an unusual flavor. The Prescribed Burn had a little tingle, but I think we were all hoping for something closer to the Sriracha beer produced by Rogue.

We are staying at the Strater and our bellhop who has grown up here told us that this is his favorite place. There are so many restaurants in town and this place is huge yet there was a long line out the door. There’s a reason. The food is very reasonable and the menu is huge. My husband had a beer who is brewed on the premises that he really enjoyed. He also had a delicious hamburger while I had the French dip which was just amazing. The beer battered fries were also a winner. Prices are very reasonable, service was great. This place is a great place to come to. It was so hard to decide what to order as I looked around me and saw so many delicious looking items go by

One of our frequent haunts. Last night we discovered they actually have a kitchen that stays open past 10:00! When driving in from our place in Longmont this is great news! Nothing better than a great meal and a ever greater old f brewsky !!

Amazing food and drinks! Had the southwest burger and mashed potatoes, both were delicious! Service was great and you even get free peanuts to eat while you wait. The atmosphere is nice and the town surrounding it is worth a walk around to see. Great place to go if you are looking for food late(after 8).

Great place to go to meet up with friends. I have only had appetizers here so far, but they have all been great. The beer cheese dip with pretzel bites is amazing! The beers that I have tried have been very good. Going on Friday and getting the $ 1 draws is fun because you keep trying different types of beer. Great service and friendly wait staff. I would recommend anyone wanting to have a casual time out to try this place.

Solid beer — I tried the red ale and the Third Eye IPA. Neither has great body but both have good hop character. The IPA is better. Blue cheese kettle chips are interesting. French dip came out with spilled jus, making the bread instantly soggy. Servers need to be careful about that. OK otherwise. Sautéed brocollini also good. Bar stools just a bit too low for the bar. They use the same stools as for the high top tables, but the tables are lower. Chair/table height based on the proportions of the human body is something we perfected a long time ago — why not here? Good service. They update and leave your ticket as you order stuff, so you don’t have ask for the check. Recommended, in a town with many good choices.

We were seated pretty fast. The hostess was very friendly and walked us to our table upon entering the place. The waitress(Madison) also showed up fast, but right away she seemed annoyed. She did bring us our drinks pretty fast, but sat and talked to her friends across from our booth for a while. The food was okay. My husband’s meatloaf was actually very good. I tried a couple of bites and it tasted delicious… that was the highlight of our dinner. The beer was okay, but not memorable(we have visited countless breweries -…yes we’re beer snobs). My «Chimichanga» was memorable for the wrong reasons: it was cold and even though the beef tasted good, it seem like if it was just reheated. Being a chimi, I expected the outer part of the tortilla to be crunchy… it seem like it was barely dipped in the oil… the guac was nothing special, or even the toppings of the chimi. My husband pointed out that the beans and corn, that were the«side» for the chimi, looked like mixed from frozen. It tasted good, but I wouldn’t doubt it. Madison came back to the table with the bill and went to the booth across from us again to talk to her friends I get it… they’re young and want to be social, but not while they are at work and people are waiting. I wanted to go to the ice cream parlor around he corner, but thanks to Madison we didn’t make it(we are driving back tomorrow morning and the place opens again until noon tomorrow… by then we will be long gone. Anyway, I usually don’t rant as much, but I was sorely disappointed, except for the meatloaf. I would really not want to try it again on our next trip.

Atmosphere good, beer pretty good The Prescribed Burn beer really good, really hot! The Third Eye P. A. was also tasty. We ordered Nachos and got a plate of chips, beans and cheese(not melted)…that is not Nachos! I’ll give 3 stars for beer 2 for food, not sure we will be back.

Loved the burgers, and especially the beer! The only negative(costing a star) is the shitheads that bring their fuckin’ kids and let them run amuck in the bar. I come to the bar specifically so I don’t have to step over your bastard children coloring on the floor! Anybody that brings kids to a bar/brewpub should be publicly kicked in the face!!!

I went here in 2014 on a road trip through Colorado. We stopped here on the way to Mesa Verde. I ordered the Southwestern Burger and from that point on… I was in love LOL. To this day, I still rank their Southwestern Burger as the best burger I have ever had. Now for the other review stuff. Service: Friendly and attentive. 5 stars Food: Amazing: 5 stars Ambiance: Fun and casual: 5 stars A must visit in Southern Colorado.

Ugh. I don’t know what it is about traveling, but there are times when all I get are bad meals. It seems like it’s a domino effect: one bad meal and the rest seem to all follow suit. After spending some time exploring downtown Durango, I knew it was time for some serious food(instead of Happy Hour food). I toyed with a little bistro nearby for some pasta or a plain & simple cheeseburger and a beer from Steamworks. Steamworks was hopping, so I figured it was a safe bet. First, I really appreciated the bartender getting my beer order in just minutes before Happy Hour pricing ended. Literally, 2 minutes until the pricing was over. That’s service. It all fell short from there, though. I ordered a basic cheeseburger with fries. No American cheese? Okay, stuffy Durango, swiss will do as a replacement. Medium-well, please. What arrived was a hockey puck — burger hard as a rock because it was well over well-done; no flavor; fries were barely hot; I was SO disappointed. And hungry. But I couldn’t eat it. It seems kinda funny that a beer joint can’t deliver on a simple burger — that seems to me that it would be your«bread & butter.» I file it under(once again) the«I ordered wrong» file — but really I don’t think it was me. I think it was poor quality meat and a kitchen that wasn’t paying attention.

The best beer flight I’ve had anywhere. Most notably, a light IPA with a subtle finish of hops, a very spicy chili powered ale, and a sour ale. Although this place is always outrageously busy(over an hour wait at 4:15 in the afternoon), it is well worth putting your name in and they will text you when you’re table is ready. A must visit for anyone visiting Durango.

Went in on a busy Tuesday night at dinner time and ordered dinner at the bar. Food was delivered in about 10 minutes, the order was correct, and the service was very good throughout my 30 minutes there. Reasonable price for a simple wrap & fries with a soda in Durango — about $ 12.00. I’ll go back again.

We didn’t try the food, but our bartender knew his stuff! We sat down at the bar, told him we liked fruity beer, and he listed off 6 just from the top of his head that he thought we would like. Not just that but we seriously liked 4 out of 6– all were drinkable but 4 were downright fantastic. The one wit wonder, prudence, the seasonal sour, and the ale Diablo were our favorites!

We have eaten at Steamworks probably half a dozen times over the past five years. We are not beer people(I know, what is wrong with us?!?) so this review is for atmosphere and food. The service is hit or miss. We’ve had experiences where the waiter/waitress is awesome, and we’ve had experiences where we waited 20 minutes to see anyone. The place is huge and noisy, which is good some days, not so good others. Food is also hit or miss. Queso is this weirdly runny soup-thing. But the kale Caesar salad is TDF. Yum to the yumth power. Burgers and sandwiches are consistent and they have a decent kids menu. It’s a heck of a lot better than a Chili’s or other chain place, and for that it gets a solid four stars. Not earth shattering, but it’s funky and definitely one of a kind.

I haven’t been coming here for years until recently because the wife insisted. She really likes their menu and that I can agree with. Their food is pretty good. I am not a fan of their beers. I have never had a beer of theirs that I am fond of. I love IPA’s, but their Third_Eye_PA is lame: all malt and no bite. Is the answer to make a double IPA in its stead with an octane rating non-conducive to multiple beers? Not in my book. For some weird reason, their beer makes my stomach upset. What gives? Food is good, beer is lacking.

Usually the service here is great. I sat at the bar ordered some food. Josh the bartender put 5 ice cubes in my drink(lets think about the reason for that.). PURELAZINESS. So I have to drink warm soda with my dinner because my bartender is too lazy to come over and refill my glass!!! Seriously!?? The I ask for a raw food item and he brings in over and drops in into my hands from his dirty, filthy bartender hands. I was thinking, is the guy for real? The bartender at any place is the front man for the rest of the show. It became pretty obvious that this place has lost some credibility. The last thing that bothered me was that they don’t have Heinz ketchup. What restaurant on god’s green earth doesn’t have Heinz ketchup!!! This is the last time I’m coming here.

Wait: was 30 minutes for a table of 2 on a Wednesday night. So we sat at the bar and had a beer brewed in house while we waited for our table. The beer was good and the food was good. Staff: was very nice throughout the night. A couple of things: Atmosphere: it is very bar style so if you are looking for a romantic evening try another place. The place seems to be purposely left«unkept» as part of the atmosphere, you can find peanut shells and other assorted items on the floor. Beer: brewed in house and is pretty good. Wife had a sour that she really loved that wasn’t too sour. The best part of the beer is that you can buy a 6 pack of certain beers to go! Just ask your server, we took a 6 of kolsch home which saved us a trip to the grocery store.

Amazing service from Madison. The drink suggestion is how it started. The place has tons of microbrews. The best suggestions for the menu: she has the recommendations based on your tastes and questions. I had Cajun penn pasta with chix. Hubs had meatloaf which I don’t even like that much normally but I was the best we have ever had, ever. She was very knowledge of menu, including desserts. We had the raspberry shortbread with Ice cream. Would recommend! Liked the space too. Laid back and quasi hipster college feel.

Love Steamworks in Durango. It’s one my two fav places to eat and drink beers. It’s a huge place downtown and is alway busy. Even at 9pm on Thursday there was a 30min wait. But it’s totally worth it. They have a great selection of their own brews, though I only stick with stouts and ales, so unsure about others. They food menu is fairly big and almost everything we’ve ordered is great. The Cajun boil is very good and very messy. This place is a must for everyone visiting Durango.

The best dining experience of our vacation! Our server was above and beyond, friendly and helpful with the menu. The kiddos had the spaghetti meals with ice cream and were very happy. They also got to write on the floor with chalk and thought the kids menus were cool. I had the fish and chips and added asparagus, delish. The husband loved that they had cask beer and also enjoyed the Third Eye Pale Ale and his gyro. Great service, food, and atmosphere, all in a timely manner. Check it out.

Looking to nosh on something after 10pm? Get it here! There used to be limited options for later dining in Durango, so I was very happy to learn that the kitchen was still open after a long day. Steamworks crafts their own brews. They also make a decent fish taco. I highly recommend it with a basket of fries. The staff was friendly even at the odd hour, and the many patrons still hanging out all seemed very happy with their selections. Thanks again for being open late Steamworks crew, it was much appreciated!

Steamworks is definitely the largest restaurant in Durango but yet there is still always a 45+ minute wait because they do not take reservations. The atmosphere is pretty cool and wait staff are extremely personable and attentive. I would recommend coming here mainly for the beer! The food was average. We had the the clams with lemon sauce for an app, Chicken and Waffles which was ok and the Chorizo Burger with fries. To me this is a one and done for food but will definitely go back for the beer.

Loved the IPA they had on tap. Everyone in our group got a different beer and we all liked them! I looked at reviews of a few other breweries and this one seemed the best. We were happy we came here. The burger I had was good, but not exceptional. My friend loved his pizza that he ordered. Our waiter was enthusiastic. The food came out quickly. What was really nice is that it was one of the only restaurants open late in Durango, the kitchen is open till almost midnight! The atmosphere was fine, nothing special but seems like a well liked place. We will be back.
